Chapter 41
Chapter 41: Blind Judgment:
Feng Wuxie rolled on the ground, his body drenched in blood, looking utterly pitiful. A group of powerful demons surrounded him, their eyes filled with hostility.
As the demon race grew weaker, their dreams of dominating the Ancient Battlefield of Prodigies began to fade. The instructions from the Myriad Spirit Demon Emperor resurfaced in their minds: Collect the Myriad Spirit Blood and offer it to the Demon Emperor in exchange for unparalleled secret techniques.
Feng Wuxie, a demon with a trace of phoenix blood, naturally caught the attention of the Little Dragon King. Capturing Feng Wuxie was effortless—sending a minor demon king or a pureblood demon would suffice.
Just as they prepared to kill him, Feng Wuxie, terrified beyond measure, shouted that he knew Yue Hongling. Not only that, but he claimed they had a very close relationship.
The demons hesitated for a moment. Yue Hongling’s name had become so notorious that even hearing it gave them headaches. She was a human woman so powerful that she made demons tremble. And yet, this half-blood phoenix, with nothing to offer but his bloodline, dared to claim he was close to Yue Hongling?
“Do you know Tianwu? Tianwu once tried to kill me, but Yue Hongling saved me. She killed Tianwu!” Feng Wuxie desperately tried to prove his connection to Yue Hongling.
“Tianwu was also killed by Yue Hongling?”
The word “also” revealed that Yue Hongling had already slain more than a few formidable demons.
“Yes, she killed him.”
With that, Feng Wuxie was brought before the Little Dragon King. When the Little Dragon King heard the story, his face turned as dark as coal.
Though Yue Hongling was his adversary because of their inherently conflicting races, he admired her strength. She was a once-in-a-millennium prodigy. Yet, to hear this wretched weakling claim Yue Hongling had feelings for him? The Little Dragon King found it laughable. Without hesitation, he brutally beat Feng Wuxie.
Feng Wuxie felt he was on the verge of death. He had to prove himself—he had no other choice.
Desperately, he pulled out the conch treasure.
The demons waited impatiently for Feng Wuxie to contact Yue Hongling. If she didn’t respond within five minutes, he would be beaten again. If she didn’t reply in a quarter of an hour, he would die.
As the time limit approached, Feng Wuxie fell into despair. He knew Yue Hongling rarely responded to him.
“Enough, time’s up,” the Little Dragon King announced with a smirk, clapping his hands.
When no response came from the conch, the Little Dragon King sighed in relief. He had suspected it was impossible for someone like Yue Hongling to favor such a coward. If it were true, it would have been a disappointment.
He approached Feng Wuxie to extract his blood.
Just as Feng Wuxie sank into hopelessness and the Little Dragon King raised his claw, the conch vibrated lightly.
“Wait!” Feng Wuxie screamed at the top of his lungs.
“She replied! She replied to me!” he roared, his voice tinged with madness from fear of death.
The Little Dragon King paused, his dragon eyes narrowing with a deep, chilling gaze. The murderous intent in his pupils was unmistakable.
“Kneel,” the Little Dragon King commanded coldly.
Feng Wuxie dropped to his knees, trembling uncontrollably.
“Play it,” the Little Dragon King ordered.
Feng Wuxie activated the conch. Yue Hongling’s calm, gentle voice echoed from within.
“Train hard. With your phoenix bloodline, as long as you’re willing to endure, we’ll one day fight side by side, conquering the world together. I believe in you.”
The moment her voice came through, the Little Dragon King froze. The surrounding demons widened their eyes in disbelief, their faces filled with shock.
Everyone present was questioning their existence. They had all heard Yue Hongling’s voice before, but it was nothing like this.
How did she speak to them?
“Kill!” (A furious roar.)
“Fools!” (With disdain.)
“This place belongs to the human race. Leave immediately, or face annihilation!” (Cold and merciless.)
“Watch as I crush you with one punch!”
But now, her tone was gentle, even laced with warmth. The words she spoke were even more shocking.
What did she mean by “fight side by side”? What did she mean by “I believe in you”?
What the hell?!
Was this really Yue Hongling?
“It’s true! It’s really Yue Hongling!” Feng Wuxie cried out, desperate to convince them.
The Little Dragon King roared in fury, sending a vicious kick to Feng Wuxie’s face.
“BANG!”
Feng Wuxie flew through the air, smashing into two trees and coughing up a mouthful of blood. His body twisted in pain, stiff and curled up.
“What exactly is your relationship with Yue Hongling?” The Little Dragon King grabbed Feng Wuxie by the hair, his eyes full of malice.
“Ju… just friends…” Feng Wuxie stammered.
“Did you do anything together?”
“N… no…”
The Little Dragon King slapped Feng Wuxie again, causing blood to spill from his mouth.
Feng Wuxie clung to one thought: survival. He would do anything to stay alive. He had phoenix blood, and one day he would rise to the top.
“I… I can help you! Yue… Yue Hongling is the demon race’s greatest enemy. If you spare me, I… I can help lure her out.”
This was Feng Wuxie’s desperate offer. His heart burned with hatred. If Yue Hongling hadn’t refused his repeated pleas to stay by her side, he wouldn’t be in this situation.
It was all Yue Hongling’s fault!
The Little Dragon King paused, looking at the powerful demons around him. They were all stunned at first but soon broke into sinister grins.
What a great idea!
The Little Dragon King chuckled. “Yue Hongling, you set your sights on someone like this?”
He laughed uncontrollably, his entire body trembling, tears streaming from his eyes.
The next moment, his expression turned icy.
“Contact the demons, ghosts, gods, and spirits. Do not inform the bald monks. Tell them it’s time to begin the hunt against the human race.”
“Yes!”
The Little Dragon King looked up at the sky. Raindrops began to fall through the clouds, pattering against the ground.
BOOM!
A bolt of lightning split the heavens.
Lu Ye abruptly opened his eyes.
It was raining.
He remembered this rain from his past life. In this downpour, his first life ended under the siege of countless enemies.
This time, it would be Yue Hongling’s turn.
