Chapter 39:
Chapter 39: She Likes Me?:
Yue Hongling moved, but then paused. She knew clearly that Feng Wuxie couldn’t possibly rely on just these few tricks.
As expected, the situation changed again.
When the divine race’s Cao Hong was about to grab Feng Wuxie’s neck, Feng Wuxie’s entire body turned into flames.
Flames were intangible. Cao Hong’s hand passed through the fire and grasped nothing.
The flames twisted into an embracing shape, wrapping around Cao Hong. A whirlwind arose, feeding the fire with wind, while the fire borrowed the wind’s strength. The golden-red flames formed a fiery tornado, furiously burning Cao Hong.
“Get off me!” Cao Hong roared.
Boom!
White light exploded outward, shattering the fiery whirlwind and scattering the flames everywhere.
The fire quickly gathered and reformed into the flaming bird.
Cao Hong’s body was charred, his face twisted with pain. He glared at Feng Wuxie in fury, raising his hand and shouting.
“Divine Restraint!”
Chains of white light suddenly emerged, wrapping Feng Wuxie entirely. Dozens of chains locked him in place, leaving him no chance to dodge. They carried a suppressive force that made his entire body tremble.
Feng Wuxie cried out in anguish, struggling with all his strength.
But the chains broke and reformed repeatedly, rendering his efforts useless.
Cao Hong approached, landing a heavy punch on Feng Wuxie’s face.
Bang!
Cao Hong slapped him back and forth.
To tame a high-intelligence creature as a mount, the first step was to instill fear. By deeply imprinting the seeds of terror and repeatedly testing submission, the mount would eventually yield.
Yue Hongling observed this scene and shook her head lightly.
Feng Wuxie clearly had more powerful attacks during the battle but hadn’t used them.
Such a waste…
No matter. As long as she was strong enough, even if Feng Wuxie was useless sometimes, it wouldn’t matter.
In her previous life, wasn’t it her senior brother who was strong while she was weak?
And yet, she had been quite happy.
Her figure descended from the sky, charging straight toward Cao Hong.
Cao Hong looked up abruptly.
Seeing Yue Hongling, a thought flashed through his mind.
A beautiful woman, unknown to him, with bad intentions… could be killed!
A holy light gathered in his hands, twisting and condensing, as he launched an attack at Yue Hongling.
“Fearless Seal!”
The Fearless Seal wasn’t just a single move but an entire set of techniques, comprising eighty-one unique seals, each with its distinct effect.
As Yue Hongling grew stronger, she could unleash more seals, increasing her combat strength exponentially.
Boom!
A deafening explosion erupted.
The holy light shattered under the pressure of the Fearless Seal, and the impact struck Cao Hong’s face with unstoppable force.
Bang!
Cao Hong’s face split open, and his body skidded dozens of meters across the ground, smashing a rock into powder.
“What a tough skull,” Yue Hongling remarked, praising him before rushing forward again with her seal.
“Why are you, a human, helping a demon?” Cao Hong roared, raising a large shield to block her relentless strikes.
Feng Wuxie stared at Yue Hongling’s back, his eyes reddening.
She came to save him.
So it was true—she liked him!
It had to be true. Why else would she, a powerful human, rescue him, a weak demon?
If it weren’t love, why had she been following him all this time?
“Because I like you,” Yue Hongling answered as she struck Cao Hong again, sending him flying.
Cao Hong coughed up blood, his eyes brimming with fear.
This woman was too strong.
What seemed like a simple seal hit him with the force of a mountain crashing down.
“You probably want to make him your mount too, don’t you? Fine! I’ll give him to you! We have no grievances—just let me go!”
Feng Wuxie’s smile froze. A mount…
She wanted to make him her mount?
Yue Hongling chuckled softly but didn’t refute him. Without wasting words, she swung her seal again.
“You’re insane!” Cao Hong bellowed, unable to comprehend what was wrong with this woman.
He spat blood, his internal organs shattered.
After three more strikes, his body was torn apart.
With Cao Hong defeated, Yue Hongling turned to Feng Wuxie.
“Are you alright?”
Feng Wuxie’s mind buzzed with the word “mount.” Was that truly her intention?
“I’m… fine,” he stammered.
“If you’re fine, then I’m leaving. Goodbye.”
Yue Hongling prepared to leave.
“Wait,” Feng Wuxie called out.
“Hmm?”
Taking a deep breath, Feng Wuxie decided he couldn’t let this go unanswered.
Yue Hongling’s earlier strength contradicted what he’d seen when they faced hardship together. It was clear she had intentionally orchestrated those encounters.
“Why did you save me? What do you really want?” Feng Wuxie asked loudly.
He couldn’t deny that he liked Yue Hongling. It was because he liked her that he kept imagining she liked him back.
Yue Hongling paused.
She looked straight into his eyes, recognizing the anticipation in them.
He wanted her to say she liked him.
Yue Hongling frowned slightly. She did like Feng Wuxie, but she felt now wasn’t the time to confirm their relationship.
The intense feelings from their past weren’t there yet. If they were, she’d abandon everything to be with him.
But now…
“Because I think you’re amusing,” Yue Hongling said, leaving those words behind as she took to the sky.
“Amusing?” Feng Wuxie froze. What kind of answer was that?
But amusing…
As he pondered, his eyes widened. Amusing was surely the precursor to affection!
She, such a remarkable woman, had truly taken an interest in him!
Feng Wuxie’s heart began racing, his face heating up as excitement filled him.
“Here, take this,” Yue Hongling suddenly returned, tossing him a conch-like artifact.
“Speak into this, and I’ll hear it through another conch.”
With that, she disappeared again.
“Wait!”
Yue Hongling stopped, confused.
“Can I follow you?” Feng Wuxie asked.
The Heavenly Prodigy Battlefield was too dangerous. If he stayed with Yue Hongling, he’d be safer, and even using her discarded resources would be enough for his cultivation.
Yue Hongling frowned.
“No. The battlefield is for honing oneself, not for leeching off others. Goodbye.”
She left decisively.
Feng Wuxie gritted his teeth.
“Leeching off her, huh? Fine, I’ll show her! The next time we meet, I’ll make sure she sees me in a whole new light!”
