Chapter 455: First Step
After several hours people were starting to get up from the ground, looking at their character sheets with eyes of disbelief. Feeling the new violent energy hitting the walls of their bodies like waves.
"Are you okay?" Kiro asked a sweating Ishaan, his legs, while others couldn't have really seen them, were visibly shaking from Kiro's perspective.
"I guess." He answered sounding a lot annoyed that the system didn't warn them before plunging them into this sea of pain and death.
Kiro smiled and nodded but he didn't say anything else to his friend, instead he used his air steps to gain higher ground to speak to everyone. To those who'd never seen him do it, there were audible gasps. Impressed and still wondering how he was doing that.
Using vibrations he enhanced his voice, "if I can have everyone's attention." The voice could've been heard throughout Asgard if there was anyone to hear it far out.
Everyone from below snapped their heads to the voice that sounded like nothing from this world. To most of them, he looked like a divine being, able to do what some considered impossible.
"The war against the otherworldly beings is nigh, harbingers will file in here soon enough. I don't want us to waste time on unimportant things..."
"Then how do we know we can trust these beings surrounding us right now? They're otherworldly aren't they? Whose to say they're not working for these harbingers?" A guy interrupted, his voice loud enough to be heard from the height Kiro was standing on.
Kiro groaned, "what's your name?"
"Traj."
"You're a guardian, am I correct? Traj?"
"Uhm, yes of course!"
"I thought we've already discussed this with you guys especially? To doubt these guys is to doubt me, do you doubt me, Traj?"
Isaac from afar could be seen snorting. A little glad it wasn't him on the spot like that, he'd learned, albeit the hard way, to stay in his own lane and quite liked the peace it offered.
"Uh, ehm, no, not really, I don't doubt you." Traj stuttered before settling on the fact that he trusted Kiro.
Even before this whole ordeal he was the strongest and ranked first in Asgard. Nobody in Sanctauri had ever heard that Kiro had done something shady for him to warrant distrust.
"That's good, these are the unimportant things I was talking about. I want us to form teams, we have over three hundred guardians. Each guardian will be tasked with the burden of leading their own team. Unfortunately we don't have time to fight it out so I'd like every guardian to stand to the left..."
They immediately did what was asked of them. Leaving thousands of people on the other side, waiting to be picked for certain teams.
"Ahem LJ, Loki, stand to the left please. You'll be representing Nikolai and Felix who unfortunately couldn't be here at the moment."
Kiro, at the corner of his eye noticed one kid jumping up and down with his hand up, trying desperately to catch his attention.
"What is it Lyle?"
"I'll be representing you then, can I?"
"Have you drank your potion?"
"Uh no."
"Then, Yuri come, you'll be representing me."
Lyle wasted no time and downed the potion in a single gulp and jumped forward. He really wanted to represent his 'master.' Stay updated through empire
"Great, that's great Lyle, now you can represent yourself as you're going to be a guardian in a few days or hours however this update has affected everything."
He couldn't believe how well he was manipulated, he looked like he was about to cry. Lyle was temped to pull his own hair that's how frustrating this whole situation was for him.
"That's really not fair." He mumbled, slowly walking over to the left side with the pop-up now counting down to when he can be a guardian, in only five hours.
'I should find out who this kid is in real life, when we defeat the ancient one of course.' Kiro made a mental note, he found the kid amusing that was all.
"The team will be determined by myself and my hellhound here." Hearing that Hubris growled louder than Kiro had ever heard him.
People covered their ears, it sounded like a thunder created by gods themselves. Kiro's lips cracked into a smile, his mount had really cemented fear to anyone who would disagree.
"I want us to do this quickly, you have to get used to Kaos before any fights breakout. I don't need to tell you this but your squad will be your new family, we don't know how this update is when we die here but I trust that it'll be nothing too dire, so treat the people you're grouped with well so that they can have your back in battle."
'You said you wouldn't dictate how this goes, master?'
'Get out of my head. There's no time.'
And so, without any fight back from the crowds Kiro together with his mount, Hubris worked to divide everyone else. He wanted to keep all the teams equal in strength and most importantly keeping them balanced.
It was going very well, the only downside was the fact that there were too many people. Even with the sand people who asked to not be put in the battlefield since they couldn't exactly fight, their job would be to help Hiro. Even with that, there were still a lot of people to comb through.
There were three hundred and eighty-seven squads created, each lead by a guardian. Each team had its tankers, damage dealers, healers and long ranged fighters in droves. There were like fifty each of those classes in a single team.
Hubris and Kiro tried to make it as quickly as possible but it would still take them two days to finish up the teams. During this time Hiro had taken his apprentices and started building their base anew, they needed to create three hundred and eighty-seven training grounds and houses for teams to sleep, eat and train together.
Hiro had promised Kiro that it would take them exactly two days to finish everything. With his skill, Kiro didn't doubt his friend.
