The Dungeon Tree

Chapter 18: Mercy?

"Dude, what the hell's she breaking in there? With the amount of noise she's making she's gonna end up waking the neighbors." I said.

We watched from outside as everything was going down. While watching we saw Mina slam against a window with the ghost girl behind her.

"Should we help her? The neighbors have started leaving their home to check out what's happening." Said Steven with a worried look.

"Eh, I'm curious on how this will play out. Could be interesting, you never know." I said with a smile.

Steven gave me a funny look before letting out a sigh. He turned towards the people who had come to check out what the noise was and told them everything he knew.

After Steven was done talking, Mina bursted out of the house with a tired expression.

"You good?" I asked Mina. She turned to face me for a bit until collapsing on the ground face first. She slowly raised up her hand and gave me a thumbs up.

"Sorry about the crashing noises, that ghost kept slamming me against walls using her dolls. Not a fun experience if you ask me." She said, still laying on the floor.

I let out a sigh of relief believing that the whole incident was finally over, but it was short lived. I heard a door from the second floor slam open and the sound of someone stomping down the stairs.

"In what way do you guys not understand me sleeping means you should be quiet?" Alice said, gritting her teeth.

I looked at her in fear, I felt more terrified of her than I felt with the ghost girl. I looked at Steven and signaled him to start running. He nodded and we both made a break for it, trying to escape Alice.

"Oh so now you guys want to run away, is that it? Well I'm not gonna let you get away with this!" Alice screamed.

I turned to see that the crowd that was watching us earlier had backed far away from Alice. I quickly turned around and ran faster than I ever have before.

"John, maybe we should have told her the whole situation before running away don't you agree?" Asked Steven.

Before I could answer, I felt something hit me from behind. I started to fall to the ground and looked at Steven, he looked horrified.

"Is there any chance that you might show mercy on me and Steven?" I asked Alice, nervously smiling.

I slowly turned around and saw Alice giving me the death glare. 'I'll take that as a no.' I thought to my myself.
