Chapter 16: The Hidden Rooms
I walked into the room slowly, observing every detail I noticed. On the wall there was writing, I couldn't make out what it said though. On the wall there hung two pictures with what seemed to be a guild, but their faces were scratched out.
"This must have been a secret room that the people who lived here before us hung out. I'm surprised it's still in good condition." I said to myself.
I heard a small clicking noise again. I turned around and saw the wall that I came through shut. I brushed it off and continued looking through the room.
I walked towards a small dresser and opened it up, inside there was a watch. I examined it for a moment until deciding to pick it up and put it in my pocket.
I let out a sigh and turned towards a table covered with cards. I walked up to the table and tried to organize the cards, but failed as the cards kept messing themselves up.
"Are these cards haunted too? They keep moving on their own when I'm trying to organize them." I said to myself.
I finally decided that I've stayed in the room long enough and decided to leave the room. As I walked towards the wall that lead to the living room I heard another clicking noise behind me.
I turned around to check what it was and saw that there was now a hallway leading towards a door. I was getting an eerie feeling from it but decided to walk towards it anyway.
The hallway also had writing on the walls, this time being a little more legible. I could only make out a couple words that didn't make any sense to me.
When I arrived at the door I felt a dark presence on the other side. I jumped back and put my guard up, keeping my focus on the door. The feeling of dread soon filled my body, causing me to feel anxious.
The doorknob slowly started to turn, making me take a step back. The door opened up, making a slow creaking noise causing me to flinch.
I could see a hand appear through the door, and to my surprise it seemed human. The door finally opened and I could see what was on the other side. It was another ghost, but this one seemed a lot more sad than the girl I saw before.
The ghost looked at me for a while, not making and noises. The ghost let out a small weeping noise until heading back the room it was once in. But before it entered, it signaled me to follow them. I obliged and followed them into the room.
It was cold, a feeling I was all too familiar with ever since it became winter. The ghost lead me towards a large painting that looked the same as the pictures I saw in the room before, but this time the faces were visible and not scratched up.
I looked at the painting for a while, looking at each person until coming across a young girl who looked a lot like the first ghost I saw.
"Who are you exactly? We're you one of these people on the paintings?" I asked the ghost.
The ghost didn't answer, instead they let out a small sob and floated to one of the rooms corner. I stood as the ghost weeped for what felt like an hour. I went the walk up to the ghost but by then it had finally stopped crying.
The ghost turned around and was looking me in the eyes. All of a sudden it went through the wall behind it and disappeared, leaving me alone in the dark room.
