The Doppelgänger Mikaelson

Chapter 64: Bonnie

The door burst open, and in walked Stefan, Caroline, Alaric, and Jenna. Their arrival was swift, deliberate, and they wasted no time circling Rebekah, their expressions a mix of determination and unease.

Rebekah glanced around at the new arrivals, her lips curling into a bemused smile. "Well, well, isn't this charming?" she said, her tone dripping with mockery. "The cavalry has arrived. How brave of you."

Her eyes locked on Stefan, and the amusement in her expression darkened. "And you," she said, her voice colder now. "This is how you repay your best friend? Turning against me—all for that little doppelgänger pet of yours?"

Stefan's jaw tightened as he stood his ground, his fists clenched at his sides. "For the last time," he said firmly, his voice steady, "I don't know what you're talking about. You and I were never friends."

Rebekah let out a dramatic sigh, shaking her head. "Of course you'd say that," she muttered, almost to herself. "You've been compelled. Klaus couldn't resist, could he? He always did see you as the weaker version of our brother. Ivar would never bend to him, but you? Oh, Stefan, you're his perfect little puppet."

Stefan frowned, confusion flickering in his eyes. "I don't—" he started, but Rebekah cut him off with a sharp laugh.

"Oh, don't bother denying it," she said, waving a hand dismissively. "It's pathetic, really. Klaus sees you as a stand-in for the brother he wishes he could control. Everything he wanted to do to Ivar, he's doing to you instead. And the worst part? You don't even realize it."

Caroline stepped forward, her face a mask of barely controlled anger. "Leave him alone, Rebekah," she snapped. "Whatever twisted game you and Klaus are playing, we're not letting you drag him into it."

Rebekah raised an eyebrow, her smirk widening. "Oh, Caroline, always so fiery. But let's not pretend you're in a position to make demands."

Jenna, who had been standing quietly by Alaric's side, finally spoke up. "We don't care what Klaus wants," she said, her voice firm. "We're not letting you hurt anyone else."

Rebekah turned to Jenna, her expression softening slightly, almost as if she found her amusing. "How sweet," she said. "The newbie vampire speaks. I admire your courage, Jenna, but courage won't keep you alive."

Before Jenna could respond, Alaric stepped in front of her, his stance protective. "Touch her, and you'll regret it," he warned, his tone low and threatening.

Rebekah tilted her head, genuinely intrigued by his defiance. "Regret it?" she repeated, her voice filled with mock surprise. "That's bold, even for you, Hunter. But I'm curious—what exactly do you think you can do to me?"

Stefan stepped forward then, his voice cutting through the tension. "Enough,"

Rebekah's smirk grew wider as Stefan's voice cut through the tension. "Yes, enough," she said, her tone dripping with amusement. She turned her head slightly, raising her voice. "Kol, don't just stand there watching the show. Get Klaus. Tell him his precious supposed-dead doppelgänger is alive and kicking—and don't forget to mention you conveniently forgot to tell him."

Alyssa, who had been standing close to Rebekah, frowned and turned to her. "Wait, where is Kol?"

Rebekah gave her a knowing look, her smirk shifting into something more smug. "That bastard has eyes everywhere. His bloodline ability—Scrying. You'd think he'd get tired of spying on people by now." She stretched her arms casually, rolling her shoulders as if preparing for a fight. Then she turned her sharp gaze to Alyssa.

"Don't interfere," she said flatly. "You've got one job—make sure Elena doesn't leave your sight. That's it. I'll handle the rest of them, especially an old friend." Her voice dropped as her true face appeared, the veins around her eyes darkening and her fangs glinting under the dim light. She fixed her piercing glare on Stefan.

"Let's see how much you've changed, friend."

Jenna was the first to move. She charged at Rebekah without hesitation, her hands curled into fists. But Rebekah barely reacted. She sidestepped Jenna with ease and backhanded her across the room. Jenna crashed into a desk, groaning in pain as she tried to get up.

Bonnie, having finally recovered, raised her hands and began chanting. Her magic surged through the air, striking Rebekah with bursts of energy. Rebekah flinched, her head tilting slightly as if she felt a mild headache, but that was all.

Caroline took the opportunity, thinking Bonnie's spells had weakened Rebekah. She lunged, but Rebekah spun around, catching Caroline mid-strike. With a sharp shove, she sent Caroline flying into a wall.

Damon moved next. He darted around the room, a blur of speed, striking at Rebekah from different angles. She swatted at him like an annoying fly, her eyes narrowing as she tried to keep track of his movements.

While the chaos unfolded, Stefan stood to the side, his focus razor-sharp. He was mixing his blood with shadow energy, forming a bullet in his hand. He knew it wouldn't kill Rebekah, but it could weaken her enough to give them an opening to escape with Elena.

Rebekah, however, wasn't a fool. She'd been trained by someone who understood the art of manipulation and strategy. She saw Stefan's movements out of the corner of her eye and smirked.

"Nice try," she muttered under her breath.

Just as Stefan raised his hand to fire, Rebekah turned her attention to Bonnie. With a quick burst of speed, she grabbed Bonnie's arm and yanked her into Stefan's line of fire.

"Bonnie, no!" Caroline screamed.

The shadow-blood bullet hit Bonnie square in the chest. Her eyes widened in shock as she stumbled back, her hands clutching at her chest. She collapsed to the floor, lifeless, her blood pooling beneath her.

The room went silent.

Stefan froze, his hand still outstretched, horror etched across his face. Damon stopped in his tracks, his mouth slightly open in disbelief.

Rebekah stood over Bonnie's body, her smirk returning. "You really should've known better," she said, her tone light, almost teasing.

Elena let out a choked sob, tears streaming down her face as she stared at her best friend's lifeless body.

"Bonnie…" she whispered, her voice breaking.

Rebekah glanced at the others, her expression one of pure amusement. "What's the plan now?" she asked, folding her arms. "Still think you can stop me?"

Stefan lowered his hand, his fingers trembling. "You didn't have to do that," he said quietly, his voice filled with guilt and anger.

Rebekah raised an eyebrow. "Didn't I? Maybe next time you'll think twice before trying to play hero."

Damon growled, his fangs bared as he prepared to attack again. But Rebekah simply rolled her eyes.

"Don't," she said, her tone suddenly cold. "Unless you want to see someone else die tonight."

Nobody moved. The weight of Bonnie's death hung heavy in the air, and for the first time, the group truly understood just how dangerous Rebekah could be.

"You should have also stayed dead, Elena."
