Chapter 18: chapter 18
Eliana's POV:
After dropping Xavier off I went back to the company to pick royalty so she wouldn't throw a fit.
As we pulled into the driveway, I could see Royalty's eyes lighting up with excitement. "I'm so glad to be home," she said, stretching her arms over her head.
I smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. It had been a long day, and I was glad to be back in the safety of my own home.
As we got out of the car, Royalty turned to me with a mischievous grin. "So, spill the beans. What really happened with Xavier?"
I rolled my eyes, laughing. "Royalty, I told you. Nothing happened.".
Royalty raised an eyebrow. "Save it, Eliana. I know you too well. You can't fool me with that innocent act."
I sighed, shaking my head. "Royalty, I'm serious. There's nothing going on between Xavier and me."
Royalty nodded, but I could tell she didn't believe me. "Okay, fine. But just remember, I'm watching you. And if Xavier breaks your heart, I'll be the first one to say 'I told you so'."
I laughed, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Royalty. She might be a pain in the butt sometimes, but she was also my best friend and confidante.
Royalty's POV:
As we walked into the house, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. I had Eliana right where I wanted her - in the hot seat.
I turned to her, a mischievous grin spreading across my face. "So, come on. Spill the beans. What really happened with Xavier?"
Eliana rolled her eyes, laughing. "Royalty, I told you. Nothing happened."
I raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "Save it, Eliana. I know you too well. You can't fool me with that innocent act."
Eliana sighed, shaking her head. "Royalty, I'm serious. There's nothing going on between Xavier and me."
I nodded, but I could tell Eliana was hiding something. And I was determined to find out what it was.
As we walked into the living room, I spotted my cat, Mr. Whiskers, lounging on the couch. I scooped him up in my arms, cuddling him close. "Hey, baby. Mommy's home."
Eliana laughed, shaking her head. "You and that cat are ridiculous."
I grinned, feeling a sense of contentment wash over me. This was my happy place - surrounded by my best friend, my cat, and the comfort of my own home.
