Chapter 15: Pencil Confess Attempt
(Saiki sits quietly in his classroom, watching out the window. As usual, he's trying to stay under the radar and avoid any unnecessary drama.)
Saiki (thinking): Another peaceful day. Just have to get through this class without any distractions...
(But behind him, Teruhashi is deep in thought. She's finally decided that today is the day she'll confess her feelings to Saiki. Yet, there's a problem, she can't just come out and say it.I mean who would do that? That would be too forward. No, she needs to get his attention first, then let her charm do the rest.)
Teruhashi (thinking): I can't just say it out. I'll drop a hint, something simple, and then confess. He'll be so amazed that he'll realize we're meant to be. He should feel honored!
(She grips her pen, deciding on a simple plan: tap Saiki with the pen to get his attention. He'll turn around, she'll give him a sweet smile, and then she'll confess. Confident, she moves the pen toward his shoulder. Just as she's about to make contact, Saiki, who already knows exactly what she's planning, moves in his seat.)
Saiki (thinking): Good grief. She's actually going through with this?
(The pen misses him by a hair's size. Teruhashi gets shocked. But she quickly regains her composure.)
Teruhashi (thinking): Huh? Did he move? That's fine, I'll just try again. I can't give up now, this is too important!
(Determined, she brings the pen back and tries again, moving it slowly, carefully, toward Saiki's shoulder. But once again, Saiki, without even turning around, leans forward to "adjust" his notebook, dodging the pen , like easy peasy.)
Saiki (thinking): This is starting to get annoying. Why is she always so persistent?
(Teruhashi starts to get frustrated. She grabs the pen tighter, deciding to give it one last attempt. This time, she pushes the pen forward with a little more strength, aiming directly for his back. But Saiki, already knowing her next move, moves slightly to the side, and the pen misses once again.)
Teruhashi (thinking, shocked): How is he doing this? It's like he knows exactly what I'm about to do! He's avoiding me on purpose, isn't he?
(She sighs in defeat, leaning back in her chair, her hopes of a perfect confession were destroyed. She looks down at the pen in her hand, annoyed that her plan didn't work.)
Teruhashi (thinking): I had it all planned out! I was going to confess, and it would've been perfect. But he... he dodged me every time. There's no way anyone could avoid me like that by accident. He must be doing it on purpose.
(She crosses her arms, still upset)
Teruhashi (thinking, defeated): Fine. I'll admit it. He's not at my level... yet. But one day, Saiki-kun, you'll notice me, and I'll have my perfect moment. You can't avoid me forever. (my thoughts: hohoho not as long as author-san is in saiki side)
(Saiki remains calm and focused on his notebook, pretending nothing happened.)
Saiki (thinking): Good grief. That could've been a disaster. At least she's giving up... for now.
(The class continues, none of the other students aware of the silent duel between Saiki and Teruhashi.)
