Chapter 236: The Heir to the Mafia
After having no more nails to pull out, Anna felt that she had done enough that day. She warned her that she would be back the next day, and that she was just getting started.
Sarah's angry eyes made no difference to Anna, and neither did her tears. She closed the door after turning off the light, and there were already women in the kitchen. She approached one of them and told her what food was to be served to the prisoner.
They nodded with fear in their eyes, and Anna left. She had to meet her family.
When she got into the car, Adonis started driving.
"What she said about our minds being even more connected to Alpha than before is true, Anna. We can feel it. Some celebrated. Why did you do that?"
"I don't know what happened to you, Adonis, but it wasn't me." Anna said quietly.
Adonis parked the car in front of the mansion and as soon as he turned off the car, he looked at Anna.
"I wouldn't forgive you if you were lying to me, Anna."
"I didn't lie, Adonis. That woman is crazy and the only reason she said all that nonsense was to turn you against me."
Adonis stared at her coldly and shook his head. She got out of the car and realized that she still had about forty minutes to make the call to her children. Just enough time for her to shower and put on the clothes she was wearing abroad, so as not to startle her children.
Adam made the call and then left her alone to talk to his family, and she felt disappointed when she realized that Max wasn't with the rest of the family. She didn't let her feelings show, and even forgot them in the face of the joy of seeing her children again and hearing their childish voices.
Anna talked to them for a long time before Max entered her field of vision, as did her father. She felt like crying when she saw him. She felt that the love she had for him was so great that it was suffocating and pressing down on her chest. Why did all great love bring pain with it? However, shortly after he arrived, Alexandre appeared at the office door, and with gestures, pointing to his bare wrist, said that the deadline was over. She was forced to say goodbye, but before she hung up, her father smiled at her and winked.
Anna understood that he would do something, and then regretted that Ian was no longer there to see his children all safe. He talked to his brothers and left the room. She knew that Adam would never hurt him, but he had many enemies, and there would always be someone on the inside, researching his weak points. And if the mole was in the house, Adam's enemies would already be moving in to harm his Ian. Enemies who knew how to hurt werewolves.
Anna came out of the living room and saw that Adam was in his study. She could see through the open door that he was arguing with Genevieve. She remembered what Kate had said about her real feelings for Ian and stopped. She didn't know whether to wait for Genevieve to finish listening to Adam ranting, with the same elegance she always maintained, or to go on her way to see Ian. After some thought, she decided on the second option and ran up the stairs.
Ian had his eyes glued to his violent game on the television, but realized that she had come in.
"Hi, Mom."
"Hi, Ian." Anna replied and sat down next to him, and looked at the TV just as the character he commanded was ripping his opponent's head off with a long sword. She looked away. Maybe that wasn't as cruel as what she was doing to Sarah.
"You left the room quickly, my son. Didn't you enjoy seeing your brothers and sister?"
"I liked seeing them again. It seems a long time since I've seen them. It seems like another lifetime when we all lived together..." Ian said reflectively, but without losing focus on the game.
"That won't be for long, my son. Soon, you'll be together again."
"I'm crossing off each day. There are still many days to go."
"Then enjoy your vacation here, my son. Adam is... The uncle who loves you, but in a while, you won't see each other very often. Not in person."
"Will you let me have a computer?"
"We'll see about that later. Your father will decide." Anna said and ran her hand through Ian's hair, noting that he was a miniature Adam. They were very similar. She laughed when she realized that he didn't have any physical characteristics that resembled her. "Where did you and your uncle go when you left the room?"
Ian remained silent and Anna looked at him. Was he so distracted that he didn't hear her question? But he answered after a while.
"You need to understand, Mom, that I'm going to be Uncle Adam's leader and sole heir, and I need to know how to act in every situation that arises."
"I... Ian, you're smart, but you're still too young to worry about business. What did Adam teach you today?" She was furious and trying not to pull down Ian's pants and slap his ass.
"I gave a sentence, to a thief." He said simply.
Anna felt the air catch in her lungs. Had Adam gone mad?
"What was your sentence?"
Ian dropped the video game controller on the bed and stood up, glaring at his mother.
"The only appropriate sentence for this crime. Stop asking me stupid questions, woman!" Ian said and left the room, shouting goodbye as soon as he saw Caricature walk down the corridor.
Just when Anna thought she could breathe in peace, Kate entered the room and poured herself a bottle of cognac, which she had taken with her. Then she sat down in the armchair opposite her and put the glass down.
