Chapter 106
“I saw the future.”
“Yes?”
Aurellia approached someone urgently. “Please, give me something valuable.”
“What future are you talking about?”
“The Empress.”
Her gaze shifted towards the empress, Tiana, who was visibly trembling.
“…I shouldn’t interfere with anyone’s future, but…” Aurellia gazed at her intently. “You are my friend.”
She loved humans. However, to be honest, she couldn’t fully trust them. When she was young, she was falsely accused by noble ladies who lied. Because of that incident, the emperor fed poison to the Shinsu clan in a cowardly manner to protect the empire.
Since then, that event planted hatred for humans in Aurellia’s heart. And so, her hatred grew, and her divine power became uncontrollable. It was around that time that she met Ashter and Tiana.
“You and Ashter were the first humans who wanted nothing from me.”
Everyone has their desires. It’s not necessarily bad. The problem was everyone tried to use her as a means to their end. But they were different.
“Why do you think there’s nothing I wanted from you? There is.”
“What is it?”
“Friendship.”
They truly treated her as a friend, with a heart free from greed and malice, purely genuine.
“Right. And that was something I desperately longed for too.”
Had it not been for Ashter and Tiana, she might have completely given up on loving humans.
“So, I will help Tiana.”
“What do you mean…?”
“I will soon leave this place.”
“Aurellia…”
Though her voice trailed off, she couldn’t ask why. It was obvious it would be due to the emperor’s vile actions. Tiana loved him, and the emperor loved her back. But he couldn’t overcome his own desires and fears. The emperor feared the Shinsu clan.
“Your Majesty will soon have a beautiful baby.”
“Ba-Baby?”
“…Your Majesty. Please give me something valuable.”
“
Uh, uh…
yes. What should I give…?”
Blushing, Tiana rose from her seat. After pondering what to give, she finally pulled out a ring. She didn’t like flashy jewelry much, but she often wore this ring because it resembled the bouquet from her wedding.
“I’ll give you this…”
“Okay.”
Aurellia focused intently on the ring, gathering a tremendous golden divine power.
“Wow, it’s still so mesmerizing to see…”
Tiana was amazed by the enormous power she witnessed. Aurellia, when using magic, was impressive, but even more so when utilizing her divine power.
“
Haha
, it’s nothing.” She smiled lightly, concentrating the surging divine power into the ring.
“Into the ring…?”
And the process took quite a while.
“Aurellia, that’s enough…!”
Sweat beaded on Aurellia’s forehead, and her face turned pale before she finally stopped infusing the ring with divine power.
“
Gasp
,
gasp
…” At Tiana’s urging, Aurellia gasped for breath.
“Are you okay?” Asking about her well-being, Tiana quickly brought her some water. “Drink some water…”
“…This is the best I can do.”
“Yes?”
“Your Majesty will soon have to make a choice.” Aurellia stumbled over her words, recalling the future she had seen.
“A choice, you say…?”
Premonitions don’t give detailed information, so not everything was clear. But Tiana would fall into a scheme and be separated from her son. And tragically, she would have to choose between her own life and her son’s.
“I’ll leave the choice to you, Your Majesty.”
She closed her eyes in pain. This was as far as she could help.
Releasing divine power into an object requires ten times the usual effort. So, except for a little divine power and magic in a pendant given by Ashtar, she never did it again. Probably, she would never be able to seal divine power in an object again.
“What kind of choice is that…”
Aurellia grasped Tiana’s hand tightly, a look of deep sorrow on her face. Her choice involved,
“…Tiana.”
Even the life of her daughter.
“I’m sorry.”
For knowing the misfortune that will befall you and not being able to tell you.
“I’m sorry…”
Aurellia swallowed the words swirling in her mouth and merely smiled bitterly.

“Lobelia!”
At Frinel’s voice, my eyes slowly opened. I was completely embraced in his arms.
“
Ha
, Frinel.”
“Are you awake?
Huh
?” Frinel asked again, his face filled with concern.
“I’m okay. How long was I…?”
“I’ll get you some water.” He lifted my body and laid me on the bed.
I blinked slowly.
Was it a strange dream, or did I feel as if I had drunk too much to the point my mind was foggy? Yet, strangely, I felt energized.
I had felt a bit of fatigue as the divine power and magic began to weigh down on me. It made sense since it was a power based on life force. But now I felt as light as if I had never used my powers at all.
“Frinel. Was your mother’s name, by any chance…”
Yes, it was too vivid to be just a dream. So I slowly spoke out.
“Tiana?”
“…
Uh
?”
Frinel, who was about to get water, turned around swiftly. He looked at me, puzzled, tilting his head slightly.
“How did you know…?”
“
Ha…
” Covering my mouth in surprise, I sighed deeply.
Mother knew.
Shinsu clan is the messenger of the gods. And, strictly speaking, divine power is the power of god. It wouldn’t be surprising if I had the power of foresight, as I already had strong magic and divine power.
Realizing that the ominous premonitions I had were actually foresight, I slowly spoke. “I read the dream, no…. the memories contained in this ring.”
“Memories…?”
Tears slowly filled my eyes. “The power within this ring was divine power.”
“So, that power earlier was…”
“Yes. It was divine power. That divine power has been protecting Frinel all along.”
“
Ha…
No wonder…!”
He had been subjected to countless attempts of poisoning by the empress. Surely, he should have died from such deadly poisons. Yet, Frinel always survived, albeit in agony. Even the doctor was puzzled.
“Then, did my mother know what would happen to me…?”
“…My mother had foresight and handed this ring over in advance.”
“…The divine power in this ring was your mother’s…?”
“Such an unbelievable connection. Really…”
The connection between Tiana and Aurellia extended to their children. To me and Frinel.
“The lady from the Shinsu clan my mother often mentioned… wasn’t someone else but your mother…” In disbelief, Frinel slumped into a chair.
I watched him intently. There was still something crucial she had yet to convey.
“… Frinel’s mother could have used this ring for herself.”
Under the name ‘mother,’ they would do anything for their child. Even sacrifice their own life.
“But your mother… chose Frinel’s safety over her own life.”
“…Mother…”
Tears finally streamed down Frinel’s face. I couldn’t hold back my tears either and sobbed softly.
“Frinel.”
Then, he got up from the bed and approached him. I firmly grasped his hands.
“Let’s be happy.”
Knowing the future, my mother didn’t give up on me and my father. Frinel’s mother chose her son’s life over her own. That choice allowed Frinel to survive, and I inherited my mother’s power. All this was made possible by the sacrifices of our mothers.
“The life our mothers protected.”
“Lobelia…”
“Let’s live happily, no matter what…”
I cried and hugged him tightly. “We can’t be unhappy…”
“We won’t be.” With a tear-streaked faces, Frinel firmly replied.
Then, standing up, he gripped my shoulders tightly and continued. “Let’s live a happy life. For our mothers in heaven…”
Holding me close, his gaze slowly shifted to the window. “So they can smile down at us, pleased…”
The white moon hanging in the black night sky seemed to smile brightly at us. Gazing at the shining moon, Frinel smiled sorrowfully.
