The Courier (MHA)

Chapter 6: Questions and Answers

I sighed, looking at the tablet that I still had. It appeared that the public didn't see or hear what happened as the live feed was cut before the attack, if you can call it that, happened. My subsequent murdering of the Super Mutant and knocking out Endeavor never got to see the light of day. But that was the least of my worries as I sat in the conference room waiting for the rest of UAs heroes to gather and hear why I did what I did.

I waited and waited as the heroes were taking their time to gather. Finally, after an hour of waiting, Aizawa walked in with the Chimera on his shoulder. After them, it was All might followed by Midnight and Present Mic. Soon, the rest of the teachers came in.

.

Nezu: "Thank you for coming as soon as you could." Nezu opened with some pleasantries before he got down to business. "Now then, were there any other breaches?" He demanded, his tone speaking for how serious he was.

Cementoss: "A total of three breaches have been confirmed." Cementoss, a living brick of a person, answered the chimera. "Of them, one was countered by Courier Six. The second one was stopped by Eraserhead and Present Mic when they tried to take the announcer's booth during the panic to get the civilians out. The third was countered by Snipe and me in the stadium's corridors."

Snipe: "Damn bastard took several shots to the knees and still kept going." The Cowboy hero, Snipe, pointed out. "It was only thanks to Cementoss that we were able to capture the suspect."

Nezu: "I see." Nezu said. "Eraserhead, Present Mic, how did you two far against your opponent?"

Present Mic: "That man was freaky with a capital F." The cockatiel stated with weird hand movements. "I pushed him back with my quirk and Eraserhead managed to bind him before he bit a capsule and started foaming at the mouth."

Eraserhead: "He's dead, and without knowing what he swallowed we couldn't administer first aid." Aizawa stated in a nuetral tone.

"I need to see the intruders," I spoke, not asking in the slightest. "If they're like the Super Mutant, then the only way to deal with them is violently."

Nezu: "Before I let you see the villains in question, I must know why you acted the way you did." Nezu demanded.

.

I sighed, knowing that this was going to happen. So I started to explain what a Super Mutant was. How they were created and for what purpose. All while revealing that I didn't come from this world, something that Aizawa and Nezu already knew.

.

Midnight: "So let me get this straight, hon." Midnight spoke as she held her head. "Putting aside that you aren't from this world, these, 'Super Mutants', as you call them were once human? Add on to that, they can survive with half their brain missing?"

"Yes, they are both of those things," I answered. "But that's not even the worst part. Those that they kidnap are often either turned into food, playthings or outright turned into a super mutant."

All might: "Tell us," All might grimaced, "Tell us how they are made."

I sighed and began, "A Super mutant is a general term referring to humanoid mutants created by exposing a regular and relatively unmutated human to a variant of the Forced Evolutionary Virus or the [FEV] for short." I explained. "The resulting hulking mutants typically possess exceptional strength, endurance, resistance, or immunity to disease and radiation, as well as modified intelligence. Uniquely, super mutants never seem to stop growing, and ancient, gigantic mutants called behemoths can be found. They can range from 13ft (4m) tall or taller depending on how old it is."

Nezu: "And how common was this [FEV] used to make them?" Nezu asked, his curiosity peaked. "And what was the original reason to create something like these Super Mutants?"

"Rare." I lied, I didn't want more of them coming out of the woodwork. "And the original reason for them? Simple, war. Wars need soldiers to fight in them. They were meant to be frontline combat soldiers. But their aggression and intelligence made them unstable."

Nezu: "And who is this master it was shouting about?"

"First off, their original master died years before I was born," I explained. " As for the master it was talking about, I could only guess."

Nezu: "Then please guess."

I sighed again, "From the way it was outfitted and its lack of scars, I can most likely say it was a grunt. From who, I don't know." I told them but Aziawa caught me hiding something.

Eraserhead: "You're hiding something." He stated and I sighed.

"I did notice a brand it had on its chest," I told them. "Right at the base of the neck where it meets the torso. It was crude and messy, but I could make it out."

Eraserhead: "Is it one you know?" Aizawa asked.

"Primus." I sighed, "The super mutant belonged to a raider-turned- Super Mutant who calls himself Primus. Unlike other Super Mutants whose intelligence is moderate at best and their reasoning the worst, he retained his mind. A mind of a monster that raped, pillaged, and murdered his way through the Wastes. Not much is known about his past except that he was a raider. But what I do know is that he's a tactician and smarter than your average person. This grunt must have been a scout or one that pissed him off in some way."

Nezu: "In what way was that mutant a scout?"

"Simple, it gets rid of the stupidest ones, and if they return alive..." I stopped and thought about the way to put it for a second. "Well, if they survive and return, then it'll be rewarded by being able to keep its head.

Cementoss: "Such barbarism..." Cementoss seemed scared.

.

I just let that sink in for a moment. If that made them think of barbarism, then the Wastes would be in total anarchy. Yet there was order in that anarchy. One I helped achieved.

.

"Now then," I spoke up, getting their attention back on track. "The other intruders, can I see them?"

Nezu: "Yes, you may." As he tapped away on the computer next to him. "Tell us, what do you see?"

.

The tablet I had set on the table as soon as the conference began then vibrated. What popped up were two feeds of camera footage. Looking at the first video showed Mic and Aizawa fighting which I saw immediately as a Legon scout due to the headdress and outfit battled them with a machete. After getting captured, the scout bit into what I knew was a Cazador Poison in pill form.

.

"The one that fought Mic and Eraser was a Legon Scout," I said as I rewound the footage and made sure I didn't miss anything. "Think of the Legon as a bunch of slavering Roman knockoffs. I killed their strongest and leader with a [9-iron Golf Club] after they... well, let's just say they pissed me off okay?"

Midnight: "From the look on your face, I rather not want to know." Midnight shuttered as the rest of the conference continued.

.

I played the second feed on my tablet once the first was done. In this one, Snipe and Cementoss fought a shimmer before it revealed itself to be a Nightkin. Snipe unloaded his gun completely into the Nightkin's knees and shoulders. Once Snipe was out of ammo, Cementoss bound it in cement constraints. I was impressed at how well they handled it.

.

"The second one was a Nightkin, a Super Mutant variant," I told them as they looked at me with fear. "And yes, these ones can turn invisible." A visible shudder went through their bodies.

All Might: "Even though they are variant, I'm guessing that they have the same resistances as normal ones?" All Might asked to which I nodded my head.

"That was most likely the grunt's partner." I thought out loud. "Primus makes sure that his scouts are always in teams of two or more."

Nezu: "And this Legon?" Nezu asked, "How many do you think they have sent as scouts?"

"Depends on which Legon they were from," I answered and looked to Aizawa. "Did he shout anything at you during your fight? Noticed anything that gave him away"

Eraserhead: "He did shout something before he bit into that suicide pill." Aizawa stated, "Verum est Kaiser. and he had a bull with a 51st on it."

"Then we're dealing with a scout from the main army of the Legon, the 51st," I answered truthfully. "But judging from how he was the only one to attack you I assume that not one more was seen, am I right?" I asked and Nezu answered with a yes. "Then it's just a lone scout. But keep an eye out for more or anyone that seems odd."

Nezu: "I'll make sure to alert the Hero Commison and the National Defence Agency," Nezu spoke up, getting everyone's attention. "If these threats are as real as they were in your world, I rather want us to prepare for the worst."

.

After that, the conference went on as to how they could fix the issues that arose from the security breach. 13, the space-themed hero, who kept quiet during the discussion, brought up good points about where they could reinforce the school and add sensors to help protect the school. I zoned out about the nuances and the finer details while only registering the important bits and bobs.

Finally, about two hours later, we were dismissed by Nezu. I was the first to get up and walk out the door with Midnight right on my six. We were both walking to the dorms that were set up for teachers. Normally, I would hate it for someone not to speak their mind, especially when they keep going um and ah quietly behind me. I sighed and turned on my heel and faced her before she could become aware of what she was doing.

.

"What is it?" I asked as I removed the [Elite Roit Helmet] that I always wore and looked directly into her eyes.

"I uh..." She stuttered and stammered before finally sighing and speaking. "I was asked to get as much information about you, as an individual, as possible."

"By Nezu I guess?" I asked her to which she shook her head.

"By Aizawa." Midnight admitted. "He's the type of person to be overly cautious when it comes to people he doesn't trust. I mean, it took me over two years for him to trust me with his back should the need arise."

"Basically, he needs to know who he has at his back when shit hits the fan." I summed up for her. "I don't blame him. I'm the same way."

"You are?" she asked incredulously. "How?"

"In the Wastes, you can never know who will turn on you for the slightest thing. I nearly died to a lady who was crazy over some Blue-stared bottle caps." I laughed at the memory. "She thought they lead to a treasure trove of supplies."

"Sorry, I didn't think about it like that."

"It's fine." I told her, "I did find some companions that always had my back as I had theirs." A sad smile adorned my lips for a split second. "But as close as we were, we were bound to drift away at some point." I sighed.

"What happened?" She asked concern emanating from her voice.

"War happened." I stated, "War changes people. For the better and the worse. I lost my family and the friends I had made along the way. And war... War never changes." I sighed before putting on my helmet and walking away from the stunned Midnight.

.

I needed time alone. Talking about that brought up some bad memories and I needed a distraction. Drinking would always help, but damned mutations made it hard to get drunk anymore. If I remember correctly, Snipe had a shooting range to keep his skills sharp somewhere in one of the testing grounds. I wonder if the chimera would let me use one of the testing grounds to put up an obstacle course and shooting range?
