Chapter 24: Boot Camp Assault (2)
{POV Aizawa}
.
"Are we done warming up now?" The man as he faced Six asked as he forcibly relocated his arm with his other hand.
"Ready whenever you are." Six spoke as he cracked his knuckles.
.
What came next sickened me. The two fought by throwing haymakers left and right, no longer caring about technique. Their only thought was to bash the other's skull in. But, I could tell that Six was holding back and doing his best to stall for time.
Taking a chance to glance at my phone, I was astonished that only a few minutes had passed since the start of this duel. Looking back at the fight, I couldn't help but feel fear as I saw Six get stumbled by a particularly nasty haymaker. But he returned the hit with one hell of an uppercut.
.
{POV Kota}
.
I watched in grim horror as the two men fought each other in a brutal fashion. Each one slugging it out in attempts to kill the other one. As horrible as it was, I couldn't look away.
I wondered, what drove them. To be this violent? To be so hateful that they wanted the other one dead?
That's when I saw him. One of those dressed in weird armor sneaking around with a scoped rifle. He didn't see me, but I knew he was up to something. When he started to climb up one of the trees nearby, I understood what he was trying to do.
He was trying to shoot that Six person in the back!
Aunty was already stretched thin with her quirk with all the students and teachers connected. Plus I had overheard her that for some reason she couldn't get into Six's head.
What could I do? I couldn't just let that guy try to kill him.
What should I do?
.
{POV ???}
.
As I trekked through these damned woods, I could just make out the signs of civilization. And soon I could make out the duel that I was to interrupt. While we had honor in duels, we'd forgo honor in favor to deal with the Courier. He's been a thorn in our side since the Mojave, but tonight, that ends. With my rifle, I shall end his wretched life once and for all.
Soon, I got into position. Up high in a tree nearby. My rifle was at the ready and awaiting the signal to take the shot.
.
{POV Six}
.
With a great heave, I threw Lanius away to catch my breath. I watched as Lanius rolled on the ground and then bounce back up to his feet. I waited for him to charge me but he didn't. From the look on his face, he was planning something.
.
"I've missed this!" He shouted. "The thrill of battle, the blood rushing through my veins, the simplicity of it all!" He breathed in deeply, "Shame it has to end so soon."
.
With that, he raised his hand and made a fist. Nothing happened at first before I heard the sound of rushing water and the snapping of branches followed by a pained groan. Looking towards the source of the sound, I saw Kota, Mandalay's nephew, using his quirk to shoot at a Legion Scout that was in a tree just out of sight of my view. Seeing the rifle that was nearby and laying on the ground, I understood what happened.
Lanius must have been stalling for this moment so that a Legion Scout would take a shot at me, either killing or incapacitating me. Sneaky, I forgot that Lanius was also a good tactician. But he forgot one crucial thing, these kids are training to be heroes. Even Kota, who acted like he hated them, was someone that would act in a time of need, a hero in his own right.
I smiled at him, but it was one filled with bloodthirst. Lanius Looked downright pissed at the outcome of what happened. Looking from the scout to me, his anger tripled.
.
"No matter," Lanius growled out, "I'll finish you wretched life with my two hands."
.
I said nothing and charged him, and when I got a foot away from him, I sped up far faster than what I'd shown. I caught him off guard when I got into his space and delivered one hell of a kidney shot followed up by an uppercut that took him off his feet. As his feet touched the ground, I met his ankles with a leg sweep that took his feet out from under him. He hit the ground hard and before he could get his bearings, I was on him. I mounted him and just laid into his face as he desperately tried to block the incoming blows the best he could.
The smile never left my face as I continued to wail on him without so much as a pause for breath. Soon, two sickening cracks reverberated throughout the clearing as I broke his forearms with two solid punches. But Lanius didn't cry out in pain, not due to his mutation, but due to his own stubbornness. With his forearms broken, I grabbed his wrists and pulled them behind me so I could headbutt him as hard as I could. Another sickening crack was heard as his nose broke. After that, I repeatedly punched his face.
Blood painted my face and knuckles, but it wasn't mine.
But, now that Lanius was beaten, it was time to break him. I stood, grabbed him by the shoulder and the skirt that he wore, and lifted him up over my head. The crowd looked on in both awe and fear. With a mighty cry, I brought Lanius down to my knee. It was this time Lanius cried out in pain as his mutation couldn't hold back the pain anymore as he felt his back break.
I stood over the beaten and now broken man. My eyes never leaving the villains or the remaining Centurions. The villains were scared while the Centurions were angry. Angry at the fact that their plan failed due to a child and the fact that their strongest warrior was beaten and broken.
.
"Who's next?" I asked a simple question. One without blood lust, hate, anger, or even eagerness. It was plain and devoid of emotion. But with a serine smile still on my face.
.
A Centurion stepped forward, but before he could say or do anything, a loud boom occurred. Followed by something impacting the ground next to me. A dust storm was kicked up as everyone bar me shielded their eyes. When the dust storm settled, I felt a massive figure stand from a kneeling position.
.
"I. AM. HERE." I heard AllMight shout.
.
Looking towards the man, I saw that he was in a plain white T-shirt and a pair of sweatpants. His usual combed-back hair was a mess. I could hazard to guess that he was asleep when he got the message and rushed here as soon as he could, forgoing any sort of costume in favor of getting here as soon as he could. I had to give the man credit, he understood the emergency and did the best thing he could. Plus, he looked pissed.
.
Looking away from AllMight and back towards the crowd, the villains started to back up while the Centurions stood tall. The combination of my smile and AllMight's presence made them understand that they were outgunned. Dabi, having the best head on his shoulders, understood what he needed to do.
.
"Nomu!" He shouted and the Nomu charged forward with no regard for its self-preservation.
.
AllMight intercepted the Nomu before it got to us and started to lay into it. I just let AllMight deal with the Nomu while I eyed the Centurions. The Villains used this time to fall back into the woods while the Centurions aimed their firearms at me. Before I could pull my [Pip-boy] up to pull out a gun, an explosion rocked the Centurions.
Bakugo, having had enough of waiting, snuck around and blindsided them with his quirk. Pixie-bob used this distraction to use her quirk to form an earth beast to attack them. While they were distracted, Tiger and Midoriya rushed two of them. Momo made a cannon and shot it toward a group of three Centurions that were clustered together. Jiro and Tsuyu double-teamed another Centurion with Jiro knocking him out. The other students swarmed onto the remaining three with well-coordinated attacks, knocking them out.
Granted, they overwhelmed them with sheer numbers, but it was a good tactic.
But, I couldn't help but notice that things were going a bit too well. The Centurions were captured and the villains were pushed back. Everything was going well.
Until it wasn't.
Vortexes opened up and more Legion soldiers came pouring out. Thankfully, the vortexes were close together when they formed. Seeing this, I was ready to end this all with a well-placed [Mini-Nuke], but I was sure that the Pussycats would be pissed about the radiation fallout. So instead, I pulled out a [Gatling Laser] and opened fired, cutting down to a good 10% of them left. The hum of the gun was sort of soothing as the lasers tore through the Legionaries. The students who saw death for the first time fell back and emptied their stomachs. Pixie-bob then used her quirk to make pitfalls under the Legionaries, dropping them a dozen feet down. Soon enough, 80% of the Legionaries fell or were incapacitated. The last 10% were standing by the vortexes, waiting for orders.
As we were about to press the advantage, gas started to flow out of the woods where the Villains retreated. My thoughts immediately went to Mustard, a C-rank villain with powers similar to that of Midnight's quirk. As I turned to vaporize the area where they retreated, a spear-No, a javelin came shooting towards me from the woods. AllMight, having dealt with the chainsaw Nomu, rushed over and grabbed the javelin before it could pierce my torso.
.
"Thanks," I told him as the familiar hum of the [Gatling Laser] warming up sounded before it started to shoot countless lasers into the tree line.
.
What came next was the A-rank Villain Muscular with a giant tower shield made out of steel in front of him. My lasers did next to nothing against that shield. AllMight went ahead and stopped Muscular's charge with a left straight that heavily damaged the shield, but just then, Moonfish used his quirk to propel himself over Muscular and AllMight. I wasted no time and lasered the cannibal to ash. But as my focus was on Moonfish, I didn't notice Magne and Spinner come after me from either side. I stowed away the [Gatling Laser] and drew two [9mm Pistols]. As they charged me, I targeted them both with [VATS]. Six shots, three from each gun, echoed throughout the night. Spinner managed to block them for the most part while Magne got riddled with holes. As Magne dropped to the floor, Spinner continued his mad rush at me.
Quickly stowing away the pistols, I pulled out a [Thermic Lance]. Spinner swung his greatsword at me and I blocked it with the lance. With a heave, I managed to push his sword aside and bat Spinner in the side with the tip of the lance as it sparked and burned a hole into his side. Spinner let out a loud grunt of pain before he disengaged.
As we were about to clash once again, Muscular was thrown in between us. AllMight appeared by my side as he cracked his knuckles. Before the four of us could face off, vortexes appeared behind him and sucked Spinner in.
I swore and looked at the battlefield. Students were injured and the Pussycats were exhausted. But, as I surveyed the students, trying to get a head count, I notice we were missing some. Dread started to fill my heart as I thought we may have lost some in the battle. But a quick glance around the battlefield and a sweep just to make sure, there were no students who died.
.
"Aizawa! AllMight!" I shouted to get their attention, "We got a problem!"
"What is it?" Aizawa asked as he got close, and AllMight kept quiet.
"We're missing students."
"What?!" The two shouted.
"Roll call now!" Aizawa shouted and rushed over t where the kids were. "Class Presidents, do a roll call now!"
.
It was a tense minute before the Class Presidents finished their roll call. We were missing three students.
Bakugo Katsuki. Tokoyami Fumikage.
And...
Momo Yaoyorozu.
