Chapter 6 - The Spare Tire of the CEO’s Woman (6)
Jiang Wanyan slept soundly the entire night. She had been so exhausted the day before that when she woke up in the morning, it was already 12 o’clock.
The house was empty, and the overall style of the house was as simple as its owner, yet it had a cold, minimalist tone.
She touched her stomach and called out, “Brother Zixiang~”
But no one replied.
Feeling a bit confused, Jiang Wanyan walked into the kitchen. The kitchen looked clean and tidy, and it seemed like it had been used earlier in the morning.
A smile appeared on her lips as she opened the refrigerator. But the moment the door opened, Jiang Wanyan’s expression froze.
The refrigerator was empty, there was nothing inside. Reluctantly, she checked the second and third shelves…
The entire fridge was empty. She couldn’t tell if it had been intentionally cleared out or if it had never had much in it.
However, Jiang Wanyan preferred to believe it was the latter. After all, in a man’s home, without a woman around, there wouldn’t be much to fill the fridge.
Luckily, there was still some rice in the rice jar.
Completely ignoring Hai Ku’s words from the day before, Jiang Wanyan rubbed her stomach, which was growling, and decided to go downstairs to find something to eat before heading out to buy some food.
But the biggest issue now was that she didn’t have a key to the house. Brother Zixiang wasn’t home, and if she left now, she wouldn’t be able to get back in.
Maybe I can wait for him downstairs in the neighborhood…
The weather was nice today, and after the rain yesterday, the air had become fresh. It would be good for the baby inside her to get some movement.
Jiang Wanyan smiled gently, as if she had already started to think of this place as home.

Meanwhile, Hai Ku had been out early in the morning. He had a feeling that Jiang Wanyan wouldn’t be easy to get rid of, and this morning, he had called his parents to learn that Lin Ziying had the day off.
Driving his little car, Hai Ku called Lin Ziying on his way out, saying he would come to pick her up.
He had been mentally prepared for Lin Ziying to reject him, but to his surprise, she agreed immediately and even told him what time she would be ready.
Lin Ziying’s university normally didn’t allow outside vehicles, but since it was the peak holiday period, as long as the car was registered, it could enter.
He drove directly to the dormitory building, and while walking towards Lin Ziying, he answered a call from his father.
“Dad, I know. I’ll pick up sister first, then in a couple of days, I’ll come to get you and Mom. Mm,” Hai Ku looked at the university gate, feeling a bit envious. “I think I see Ziying. I’ll talk to you later.”
After hanging up, Hai Ku put his phone away and walked over to Lin Ziying, casually taking her luggage. “Is this all you have?”
He was surprised, as he expected a girl to have lots of bags, usually stuffed full.
“Please, I’m just on summer break, I’m not moving out of the entire dorm,” Lin Ziying said, feeling shy yet also a bit emotional. After all, she had intentionally distanced herself from her older brother when they first started.
Hai Ku didn’t say anything, silently placing her luggage down, but secretly enjoyed the feeling of being an older brother.
“Ziying, why don’t you stay at my place?”
“Why?” Lin Ziying kept her eyes forward, thinking he was just being polite. “I want to go back and spend time with Dad and Mom.”
“We’ll bring them over in a couple of days. The younger generation in the village has all gone to work, and everyone has moved their parents out. I want to bring ours out too,” Hai Ku spoke from the heart. Actually, he had a bigger plan.
“I think it’s a good idea. Besides, our parents haven’t really come to the city much. They should enjoy life here.”
“Little sister~ Actually, I need a small favor from you. I’m facing a little trouble right now,” Hai Ku went straight to the point without hesitation.
Lin Ziying: “Hm?”
Hai Ku then pretended to be slightly embarrassed as he explained yesterday’s situation, even emphasizing his desire for Jiang Wanyan to move out.
It was only because Lin Zixiang’s behavior had always been so infatuated that when he said something like this now, Lin Ziying was completely stunned. “Bro, what’s going on? Did you suddenly change your mind?”
“No, it’s just that I’ve figured it out,” Lin Zixiang said, “There’s no need to chase after a result with no future, and even less so for something that doesn’t even have a process.” His indecisiveness had already been abandoned the day before. He had been directly rejected, and it was made crystal clear. If he persisted and attached himself even more, that would just be wrong.

Just as he was about to discuss it further with Lin Ziying, his phone rang. It happened to be a red light, lasting about 90 seconds, and without thinking much, Hai Ku picked up the phone.
“Hello, who’s this?”
“Brother Zixiang…” A delicate voice came from the other end of the line. Jiang Wanyan regretted going downstairs. She had thought that Lin Zixiang would return quickly, so she had felt comfortable going down to eat. After finishing her meal, she had stayed downstairs, waiting. But now it was already after 3 P.M., and there was still no sign of him.
“What’s going on now?” Hai Ku sighed. He really found Jiang Wanyan difficult to deal with. He hadn’t removed her from his blacklist, so she was using someone else’s phone now.
“When are you coming back, Brother Zixiang? I’ve been waiting downstairs for hours…” Jiang Wanyan’s voice sounded weak, partly because she was bored and partly because the sun was too strong. She wanted to hurry back upstairs to rest.
Rubbing his temples, Hai Ku resisted the urge to curse, feeling exhausted. “Didn’t I tell you yesterday that you should leave this morning?”
“Brother Zixiang… I…” She had wanted to complain for a bit, but the person whose phone she was using had already become impatient. Jiang Wanyan, feeling wronged, could only speak softly. “My luggage… it’s still upstairs…”
“Just wait there. I’m driving right now.” Unable to tolerate it anymore, Hai Ku hung up the phone.
Lin Ziying could tell that her brother wasn’t happy, and she probably overheard part of the conversation. However, she felt a sense of relief. She thought that this was how her brother should treat that woman. If he didn’t like her, then it was fine, but why keep stringing her along?
Feeling that her brother looked particularly strong today, Lin Ziying was a little excited. “Brother~”
Hai Ku pressed the gas pedal. “We’ll eat dinner first, then head back.”
“Okay!”
