The child gifted with powerful magic

In a room with luxurious furniture a cradle sat, inside the cradle was a baby. It slept peacefully, until 2 maids entered and crept through as quietly as possible, but one accidentally dropped a glass and the baby woke.

Minutes later, the room was in complete chaos as everyone and everything was flown away or crushed by debris as the baby's cries echoed.

Kian walked to class, he was pretty excited for class after all it was magic and spells history.

He then heard someone, he turned and saw May.

"Hey, boy come here"

He went to her and she pulled him outside.

"Look, it's Arthur, another one of the strongest students, he's the best in combat arts. Some call him the Dragon Slayer."

"Why?"

"Because he slayed 4 dragons in when he was 7 inside of the Draconian cave. It is rumored to house beasts never seen."

"Is he stronger than Selene?"

"Stronger, yes, More powerful, Absolutely not."

"Why say it like that?"

"Because-"

Selene walked towards them, cutting her off.

"And what are you two doing outside of class?"

"Oh, Selene…"

"Uh…" Kian looked at her, she was crossing her arms with a disgusted look, but he sensed something, like she was hiding something from prying eyes.

Selene looked at Kian and looked him up and down.

"What is your name?"

"K-Kian…" he didn't know why he stuttered, he wasn't afraid of her… or was he?

"Kian what?"

"I don't… have a surname…"

She looked him up and down again and walked up to him.

"You can't hide your mana well, I can see it, you're more powerful than you're letting on aren't you?"

"I… you can see mana"

"Not only do I see it, I can feel it too. You're probably close to Fariaus, interesting…"

Kian was confused, who was Fariaus and why was he so interesting.

Selene sighed and walked off. May looked at Selene then Kian touching her bottom lip with a sly smile.

"Almost got caught there"

"What do you mean?"

She got up close to him, her tail brushing against his leg.

"I mean, I almost got caught playing with my prey." Her voice wasn't at all comforting.

May licked her lips and walked off.

After class, Kian didn't walk to find Kazuya, he did feel sorry as Kazuya might have been looking for him, but he needed to find Selene, he needed to find out more.

To his luck he saw her, she was walking into the woods outside the gate of the school. He followed and saw her stop and look around and he hid behind a tree.

Once she was sure no one was around she took a deep breath and out came a ton of energy destroying a lot of the forest and blowing Kian away. The trees floated around aggressively smashing into anything as the ground was ripped apart and any animals or anything was destroyed or crushed. Kian tried to ran away, but Selene saw him.

"K-Kian!" She tried to stop her ability, but it was too much, her worry and fear only made it worse. "RUN!"

He tried to get up, but her power kept knocking him down, but then he realized that the only way to survive was to stop the source, that was Selene.

He stood up despite the chaos and pain.

"SELENE!" she looked up at him.

He walked towards her even with the attacks and held out his hand. She looked at him, then his hand and grabbed it. Then it was almost as if the world stopped and even the debris and trees fell to the ground.

Kian fell to his knees breathing heavily as Selene just stood there with fear.

"Why?, Why?" Selene kept asking over and over in disbelief and sadness. Kian didn't know what to do, so instead he talked.

"It's not your fault, I shouldn't have followed you."

"... You don't understand… I can't… I'm not…" her eyes started to tear up. "Just… don't tell anyone you saw me!" Then she ran off.

Kian wanted to say something, but she was too far gone.

When Kian walked back, he saw Kazuya sitting at the gate with a very angry face.

"So you would rather talk to girls rather than your buddy?"

"Ah come on, don't be like that. I was just trying-"

"I don't wanna hear it! Kian the betrayer"

"Oh, so we're making names, okay! Kazuya the Elf girl!"

"Oh, so that's how you wanna play, Kian the wannabe?!"

The two started to fight, and ended it with a few laughs.

"Okay, I'll forgive you, but next time I won't be so easy on ya!"

Kian nodded "Like you could beat me Girl looking elf boy!"

The next day, Kian decided to talk to Arthur, but he couldn't find him. All he did find was another boy with dark messy hair and wearing black clothes.

The boy turned to Kian "You must be that new student…"

"Uh yeah, my name is-"

"Kian right?"

"Yea-"

"Where did you come from?"

"I came from-"

"A Village?, or are you from here, the capital?, or another nation?"

This guy isn't even letting me speak! Kian thought

"Oh… I see… your name is Kian, you have no Surname, and you're from a lower village, you have immense magic power, yet you're extremely naive and selfless. You also have a weak minded dream, becoming a Hero. In my eyes, you're the definition of a useless being."

"What?!" Kian clenched his fists, but held back.

The boy started to smile wickedly

"Oh… did I hit a nerve? No? Not yet? Well I guess that promise to that stupid sorceress and your little elf girl friend is keeping you from fighting, you're like a little puppy"

"YOU!"

Kian dashed forward to try and hit him, but the boy used a spell. "Gaiado!" and the ground came up into spikes, which Kian barely dodged.

"Now, do you see? You have no choice! Come on, show me your MAGIC!"

Kian was conflicted, his promise to Estra and protecting himself. What should he do? What could he do? Should he break his promise? Would Estra be mad?

Then out of nowhere, a person flew in and landed between the 2. It was another boy with styled brown hair and royal looking clothes and a sword. It was Arthur.

"Arthur Blackthorn has entered the battlefield…" His voice was cold like the winter and his eyes showed no emotion

Kazuya decided to explore before class started and so he walked around the school until he saw Mimi. He decided to ignore her though, but of course she noticed him.

"And where are you going?"

"Anywhere but wherever you are"

"Aww are you still mad at me?"

"You clawed me!"

"Yeah I guess you're not wrong…"

She sat down on a bench patting the seat next to her.

"Not a chance!"

"Aww please?" She used her kitty face to persuade him.

"Fine!"

He sat down being very cautious of her and sitting a bit away.

"You're friends with that Kian boy, right?" Her voice sounded mysterious

Kazuya nodded "Why?" He asked with high suspicion.

"Well, sorry to tell you, but… he's dead…" She said it very simply, almost as if she didn't care one bit.

Kazuya looked at her with wide eyes. He didn't know what to say or do, it was so sudden and felt like a Warhammer to the heart.

"What?" it was all that could come out of his lips.

Selene walked out of the forest with a breath of relief and started to walk back to the school, until she saw Arthur on the ground cut up with his sword in hand. She ran up to him in a panic and kneeled down next to him. She looked at him and he was just looking up at the sky.

"A-Arthur?" tears started forming in her eyes

"I… Is he… okay?" he struggled to say

"Who? Who are you talking about?!"

"That boy… Kian… is he alright?"

She looked up and saw him, Kian. He was motionless on the ground not to far.

"How? Who?"

"You already know the answer… it was him… I told you not to talk to anyone with great mana.. you're lucky I used my trump card"

"Wait… but you said you'd die if you… oh gods"

"Selene… I'll be okay… I promise. Little sister" With that he fell limp as Selene cried over his body.

Kazuya ran to the teachers and guards anyone. "MY FRIEND IS DEAD!" He kept running until he tripped. He looked and saw that he scraped his knee. He tried to get up, but his head was dazed. He saw Mimi.

"Calm down. Everything will be okay…" She laid his head on her lap, running her hands through his hair.

"He's alive…"

Kazuya looked and got ready to see for himself, but Mimi held him back.

"Don't move, you can't see him not yet"

"Why? Why?!" He repeated weakly with tears

"Shh, just go to sleep." She kept running her hands through his hair until he fell to sleep. She looked at his soft features and touched his adorable face. Until she caught herself. Was I just…? Why do I feel sorry for this boy? She wondered.

She ended up picking him up although not without a struggle, and she took him to a healer.

Kian slowly opened his eyes, he looked around and was in a Healer room. His eyes caught onto someone and he saw her. Selene and Kazuya.

"You alright buddy?"

"Y… yeah…"

Selene didn't say a word, she just sat there with her head down. Kian of course felt sorry and tried to stand.

Kazuya ran over to help him and they walked to Selene.

"Is… Arthur okay?"

She nodded "He survived…"

"Then why are you sad?"

"Because… I caused this! If I wouldn't have talked to you… no… if I would have kept myself from the entire world, no one would get hurt! I'm a burden, I'm weak. I have no control over my own ability yet… I'm the most powerful? No, I'm the most dangerous and uncontrollable student here. I'm nothing compared to everyone else."

Kian grinded his teeth and headbutted her.

"Get to your senses Selene! Do you hear yourself?! You're saying you are weak, that you're nothing, but you are! You're incredibly powerful and gifted, you may not have full control, but you still are extremely powerful! You are one of the strongest people I know, second only to my mentor, Estra!"

She looked at him with teary eyes.

"You didn't have to hit me like that, idiot…" she rubbed her head where he hit it. When she looked at him, she saw a shining star, in the darkness of her life. She reached out and felt his hand grab hers. "If you really think so… I guess I am powerful… thank you, Kian"

The trio ended up going to find Arthur and he was just sitting up on his bed reading. Selene looked and her eyes widened.

"Oh, good morning… the school is already on a search for the attacker" His voice showed no hints of pain or exhaustion or anything, it was almost as if he wasn't even hurt.

"How are you still alive?" Selene asked with teary eyes.

"You're so emotional, little one" He grabbed her hand. "I told you, I'd be fine. I'm strong after all."

After a bit of recovery the 4 sat outside on the benches.

"So… who was that boy" Kian asked

"Boy? Na that was a man. He can change his appearance though"

"WHAT?" Kazuya's eyes widened.

"Yep, He could even be running as a dog right now. So I bet the search won't be successful"

"So you're okay with this?"

"I'm injured" He said with a smug grin

"Like hell you are!" Kazuya yelled

Arthur chuckled

"So how do we find him?" Selene approached him with a determined look.

"Well, it's fairly easy. At least to find him, getting him hard. Selene you just find his mana, it's a very unusual color you'll find it easily. Then comes the hard part, fighting and capturing him. Not only is it hard because we are going to be around people, but also because he's pretty powerful."

"I can beat him," Kazuya smirked with a tone of pride.

"You really think so?"

"I can win too! Don't forget Kazuya, I'm gonna be a Hero"

"I.. I can too" Selene stepped forward looking at her brother.

Arthur chuckled, "Alright, if that's the case" He stood up grabbing his sword's hilt with a prideful smirk "Then let's go beat this shape shifting bastard"

The first battle is starting, but will they be able to emerge victorious?
