Chapter 2: At The Mansion
As Ariana's bleary eyes fluttered open, she was greeted by the unwelcome sight of the morning sunlight rays that had been streaming in through the curtains from the enormous window. The stark contrast to the darkness of her confusion from where she lay on the enormous bed. A wave of disorientation washed over her as she struggled to piece together the events of the previous night, her memory fragmented and disjointed before she felt a sharp pang of discomfort jolt through Ariana's head because she felt a cold breeze hit her bare skin as she realized her exposed state, her clothes in disarray and scattered across the floor like discarded remnants of a forgotten past. Panic surges through her veins as she frantically searches for some semblance of familiarity in her surroundings, her mind reeling with unanswered questions and unspoken fears.
With trembling hands, Ariana gathers the remnants of her torn garments, her movements slow and deliberate as she feels a sharp pain in her body.
" My head is in such a turmoil." Ariana cursed unser
A sense of foreboding settled over Viola like a suffocating shroud, the weight of uncertainty bearing down upon her with each passing moment. She longs to escape the confines of the unfamiliar room, to flee from the shadows that threaten to engulf her in their suffocating embrace.
" Where is my purse?" Ariana uttered as she looked around the room. She was still in denial of what conspired to her through the night without her concept, but that did not matter now.
" Oooh my God, I am ... Ariana took hold of her purse and grabbed her phone. He scrolled over the phone finding countless missed calls which led her heart to pound ten times the normal rate as a drip of sweat dripped down her forehead as she scrolled through the countless messages she received from her stepmom before her attention was destroyed by the room service.
'knock, knock'
" Room service, please. A soft voice is given attention from outside the latched door. Ariana slid her heels with her trembling hands and gave the thought of spending the night away from her home. Dripped her with shivers, she took quick steps, ignoring the pain as this was the bare minimum to what she was going to find when she got home. She unfurled the door and stormed out, leaving the room service lady who gazed at her before she took the elevator that was not occupied. With her messy hair and clothes, the guests and workers who made their way inside threw glances at her in disguise, but this did not overwhelm her. She found a cab that was not occupied that had been vacated by a guest, and she pushed herself inside.
" Morgan mansion, Ariana stated with a trembling voice to the driver, ignoring his glances from the rear mirror before the car engine started. The drive that lasted for half an hour was filled with silence as she glanced at the buildings that were on the roadside before the cab halted outside an enormous gate.
" Here, keep change, Ariana stated as she handed the driver some currency notes before she pushed herself out of the cab and strolled through to the gate.
As Ariana approached the imposing gates of the mansion she thought of calling home, her heart pounded in her chest, each step echoing the tumultuous emotions that churned within her. Her clothes were disheveled, her appearance a stark reflection of the turmoil that had consumed her the day. With trembling feet, she pushed open the gate and made her way towards the grand entrance, her mind a whirlwind of apprehension and uncertainty.
Standing by the door was her stepmother and stepsister, with their disdainful gazes cutting through her like shards of glass. Ariana's breath caught in her throat as she braced herself for the inevitable confrontation, her resolve faltering in the face of their palpable hostility.
"Ariana," her stepmother's voice dripped with contempt as she addressed her, her words like venomous arrows aimed at Viola's wounded heart.
"What a surprise to see you here, looking like... that."
Ariana's cheeks burned with shame as she lowered her gaze, unable to meet the accusatory stares of her tormentors.
" I... I am so sorry, Ariana stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
" I know I shouldn't have come back, but I have nowhere else to go... Ariana stated before she was cut short by her stepsister's laughter that cut through the tense silence like a knife, a cruel mockery of Ariana's vulnerability.
" Hahaha, Oh, spare us the theatrics, Viola, her stepmother sneered, her lip curling in disgust.
" We know exactly why you are here. You couldn't resist coming back for another handout, could you? " The older stepmother, Sarah inquired.
Ariana's heart sank at the realization that her plea for forgiveness would fall on deaf ears. Tears welled in her eyes as she sank to her knees, her hands clasped in a desperate plea for mercy.
" Please, mom, I am sorry, Ariana begged, with her voice cracking with emotion.
" I will do anything to make things right. Just give me another chance... Ariana stated.
But her words were met with only scorn and derision, her stepmother's laughter ringing in her ears like a cruel taunt.
" Oooh my, you are nothing but a disgrace, Ariana, she spat, her voice dripping with disdain.
" A pathetic excuse for a daughter, just like your disgust of a mother who couldn't keep her legs closed "the stepmother stated with her words that cut deep, reopening old wounds that had never fully healed. Ariana recoiled as if struck, the weight of her stepmother's condemnation crushing her spirit beneath its relentless onslaught.
" No... please," Ariana pleaded, her voice trembling with anguish.
" I will leave, I swear. Just... please don't do this... I have nowhere to go.... "
But it was too late. With a swift motion, her stepmother grabbed hold of Ariana's small luggage and hurled it at her face, the impact sending her sprawling to the ground. Pain exploded behind Ariana's eyes as she tasted blood on her lips, the physical blow a cruel reminder of her own powerlessness in the face of her tormentors.
" Please mom, spare me this chance... I will make.... Amends for my mistakes.... Please don't... Ariana, who had just gone to beg on her stepmom's knees, was pushed a kick, causing her to roll down the short steps about and Ariana didn't care about her wounds but her stepmom's forgiveness, which fell on deaf ears.
" Samuel, step you call the housemaid to remove this trash out of my compound. " The stepmother, illustrated to Samuel who was watering the flowers, in the garden.
" Please... Mom...," Ariana begged for forgiveness with her voice barely a whisper.
" I am not a mother to a disgusting daughter like you. Go search for your mother in the grave site. " Victoria, her stepmom, stated before Ariana was pulled out like trash and thrown outside the mansion gates to where she had always called home.
