The CEO's Wife Is A Demon God's Daughter

Chapter 953 953: The Witch's Hidden Motive

Cassie felt relieved when Flint continued his journey, following the path toward the sacred place.

"I can now focus on fighting the evil witch!" Cassie mumbled as she flew toward Scarlet, joining her. They stood side by side as they faced the witch.

A sinister laughter echoed in the surrounding area. The evil witch clapped her hands as he gazed at Cassie intently. "I can't believe that the demon god fell in love with an ordinary human. Who would have thought that he was capable of loving someone?"

A bitter-sweet smile flashed on her face. "And now… I'm facing his granddaughter who inherits his power."

"You amaze me. Your Firefox defeated my pets," she added.

Cassie didn't know if the witch was praising her or she was mocking her.

"Stop spouting things. Let's fight! I don't want to waste my time here. I need to follow my man!" Cassie spat back at her.

Another provocative laughter escaped her mouth. "Do you think he will succeed in acquiring power? Many have tried and failed! Some of them ended up dying here."

Cassie's eyebrows twitched when she heard that. She was displeased by her last statement.

"No! You are lying! Nothing bad will happen to him!" Cassie refused to believe her. But deep inside, her worry and concern for Flint intensified further.

"Haha! Make yourself believe your own lies. I am the living proof. I was trapped here! And I witnessed ambitious and greedy people die there." The evil witch continued taunting her, imprinting fear on Cassie's mind. She needed to distract her before launching a surprise attack.

Unknown to Cassie, the evil witch was already casting a deadly spell using her hands that were hidden behind her back.

"Master, stay alert. Don't let her affect your emotions. She is tricking you. I assure you, nothing bad will happen to Flint!" Scarlet reminded Cassie. She could tell that the witch's strategy was slowly working on Cassie. She saw the hint of worry in her blue eyes.

Cassie nodded her head as she came back to her fighting stance. "Scarlet! Let's go!"

She jumped, riding Scarlet's back, a gust of wind tousling her hair as the two of them charged in the witch's direction. Scarlet prepared to breathe and blow another fireball, the glow of orange flames shimmering in his throat.

As they closed in on their foe, Cassie released fire, manipulating her firepower as she shaped the flames into a bow and arrows. The battlefield crackled with tension as the confrontation intensified.

Cassie shot her flame arrows toward the witch while Scarlet released her fireball, aiming at the witch. They attacked simultaneously as Scarlet jumped from one direction to another.

The evil witch, cloaked in dark and ominous energy, retaliated with dark magic, conjuring gusts of swirling shadows and bolts of lightning. Cassie and Scarlet dodged, leaping from one place to another. Scarlet's fiery breath clashed against the bolt of lightning, making a loud bang.

Amidst the chaos of spells and flames, the battle raged on. Unknown to Cassie, the evil witch had already prepared a surprise attack. A hidden threat was just lurking around, waiting for the right time to strike.

Since the evil witch was defeated by Zu Wan, the demon god, she aimed to defeat and kill his granddaughter. This was her best revenge against the demon god. She suffered loneliness in this valley for a thousand years. She was trapped there and she could no longer find the value of her existence.

Fortunately, a blood relative of her nemesis showed up. She found a new goal.

'I'm going to kill her in front of the demon god. She will bring me to him,' A twisted grin etched across her face, her eyes gleaming with manic energy.

As she continued to dodge Scarlet and Cassie's attack, the witch already summoned her invisible pet. This invisible insect must bite Cassie in order for her to complete her binding spell. The witch cast a soul possession spell mixed with a binding spell.

She wanted to transfer her soul to Cassie's body so that she could also leave this place. This was her hidden motive. Both Cassie and Scarlet were clueless about her plan.

"Master, let's move faster and separately. At her current state, she can't catch up with our speed. We can defeat her. She is no longer the powerful witch who fought your grandfather. Her power depreciated as time went by." Scarlet suggested to Cassie. She noticed the difference in power as compared to before.

At first, she overestimated the strength of the witch. But now, she realized that

"Okay. Let's try that!" Cassie put her trust on Scarlet's strategy. Her Firefox knew better than her since she already encountered the evil witch before.

It did not take long before Cassie leaped off Scarlet's back as they finally got separated. They planned to attack the evil witch simultaneously in different sides.

Cassie glanced at Scarlet meaningfully for one last time before they launched their new attack. Surprisingly, the witch stood still, not planning to dodge their attack. Cassie noticed that something was stranged about the witch's behavior.

'What is she planning?' Cassie pondered to herself as she observed the witch focusing on chanting some spells with her closed eyes instead of dodging and fighting back. Scarlet breathed a fiery ball, aiming at the witch. Cassie also grabbed the opportunity to attack her using her fire arrows.

A few seconds later, an explosion happened when their powers collided with the witch's body.

Boom!

"What the hell? Did she commit suicide? She didn't avoid our attacks!" Cassie gasped in disbelief as she watched the flames consumed the witch, burning her body.

Scarlet also stopped moving and stood next to Cassie. "I guess… she is just an old hag now. She already lost all her power after being trapped here for so long."

Cassie could only bob her head in agreement. "That might be the reason. But her lightning spell is too powerful."

"Don't worry, Master. She can only cast spell once. She can't repeat it twice." Scarlet chuckled in satisfaction. They thought they already won.

"Let's leave now, Scarlet. We need to follow Flint and ensure his safety!" Cassie climbed on Scarlet's back.

"Okay, Master! Let's move."

They were about to leave when suddenly Cassie felt an unsettling sensation prickled at her skin. She gently slapped her neck at the invisible irritation, assuming it's just a pesky bug.

"Ouch."

"Master, are you okay?" Scarlet asked her worriedly as she stopped her movement for a moment.

"Yes, Scarlet. I'm fine. It might be a bug. Never mind. We should leave now." Cassie decided to ignore that simple irritation. Besides, she didn't think she would die from an insect bite.

Cassie and Scarlet continued their journey, following the path to the Sacred Place. Cassie's mind was preoccupied with Flint. She reflexively touched her lips using her fingers. She reminisced the sweetness of the kiss she shared with Flint a while ago. The wonderful feelings still lingered in her mind and she couldn't help but smile.

"Master, are you that excited to see Flint?" Scarlet asked her master as she noticed her cheerful mood. She could feel it because they were both connected.

"Yes, of course!"

After saying that, Cassie's blue eyes changed in color. They became dark gray for a few seconds before they went back to their original color.
