Chapter 946 946: His Life Essence Being Drained
[ A few minutes ago… ]
Flint became anxious when Scarlet disappeared.
"Eh? Where did she go?" Flint turned from his left to right, searching for them. But he didn't see even their shadows.
"What the hell happened here? Did I get abandoned?" He mused to himself.
He took a step, leaving his spot. The temperature was getting colder by the minute. Without Scarlet and Cassie, he would be frozen to death.
"Scarlet! Cassie! Can you hear me? Where are you?!" Flint shouted, calling for both of them. But all he could hear was the echo of his voice.
"Sigh! I'm in trouble. I'm blind against this thick fog." He was getting ready to fight if a monster appeared. He was the one who insisted on coming here despite the risk.
He couldn't blame Cassie and Scarlet if ever he would get killed and died there. He must accept his fate.
'Damn. I wanna see her… for one last time… before I die…' Flint silently prayed in his mind.
It did not take long before Flint heard a familiar voice.
"Flint! Flint!"
He turned around only to see Ella standing a few steps away from him.
"Ella?" Flint mumbled her name with disbelief. He was just thinking about her a while ago. Who would expect that he would see her in that place?
"What are you doing here?" Flint asked her worriedly. He began to trace his steps toward her.
Ella smiled at him tenderly while waving her hand. She extended her arms, expecting a hug from him.
"I got lost and I ended up in this place," Ella responded to his query.
When Flint reached her spot, Ella suddenly pounced on him, wrapping her arms around his body. Flint felt her warmth. This was what he needed at this moment. The cold feeling started to fade.
"You shouldn't be here. This place is very dangerous," Flint said, rubbing her back.
Ella tightened her grip on his body and buried her face in his chest. "I'm scared, Flint. I'm scared. Let's leave this place… together."
Ella broke the hug and gazed at him. She held his arm and placed her other hand on his cheek. "You are so cold."
"Not anymore," Flint chuckled shyly. Ella was too close. He felt like his cheeks were burning from blushing. It was so hard to believe that they would reunite in that place, after getting separated.
"I saw some orange lights there. That might be a way out of here." Ella pointed her finger at a certain location.
"Okay. Let's go. But we have to be careful. Stay close…" Flint grabbed her hand as he guided her. The two of them were now walking side by side with their entangled hands. He felt content to be with Ella.
He thought he would never see her again. He found hope.
'I have to stay alive to protect Ella.'
Little did he know, the person before him was just an illusion, created by his desire. Once he fell deep into this trap, his life essence would be sucked by her. And he would never wake up.
The two of them continued walking without a clear destination in mind. There was no orange light. Their vision was blinded by the thick fog. The surroundings were getting darker and darker. Flint began to feel tired. His energy was being drained fast for some unknown reason.
"Ella, wait!" Flint had to stop walking to catch his breath. He was panting.
"Flint, are you okay?" Ella patted his back.
"I suddenly felt weak," Flint told her truthfully. He felt ashamed for being weak in front of Ella. The fear of dying and failing to protect Ella started to consume him.
Thinking about the worst-case scenario, Flint came up with the realization… 'Should I confess my feelings for her? I might regret it if I won't tell her my real feelings now.'
With his remaining strength, Flint held Ella's shoulders and looked at her straight into her eyes. He would seize this chance to confess his love.
"Ella… I don't know if I can survive this and leave this place alive. Before anything bad happens to me, allow me to grab this chance to tell you something." Flint's lips curled up in a wry smile. His heart started to race. He was nervous.
Ella just continued smiling at him, waiting for his next words.
"Ella… I've been hiding my feelings for so many years. It's about time to let my feelings out." Flint paused for a moment, taking a deep breath as he mustered his courage up. 'This is now or never.'
"Ella… I love you…" Flint confessed, caressing Ella's face. He was looking at her lovingly. He was praising himself inwardly. He didn't stutter while saying those three magic words.
"You don't have to answer me. I just want you to know my feelings for you."
Ella let out a soft giggle. She covered his mouth using her forefinger thus stopping him from talking further.
"Flint. As you said… we didn't know if we could leave this place safely. So now, I will give you my answer. You are a very important person to me. I've known you for years. A special someone."
"Flint… I love you too…"
Flint was stunned for a moment when he heard that. That was so unexpected. All these years, he had known that Ella loved someone else… that someone was none other than Liam.
'Did I hear it right? Am I dreaming? Ella loves me too? I can't believe it. This is like a dream come true.'
Before Flint could recover from the shock, Ella grabbed his face and leaned over to kiss him. Flint's eyes widened and his brain malfunctioned the moment their lips touched. 'Damn it! She is kissing me!'
Ella was the one who took the initiative. She kissed him passionately. As time went by, she deepened the kiss for a long moment, until he became breathless. At that certain moment, his life essence was slowly being sucked through that kiss.

[ At the current time… ]
Cassie was worried sick of Flint. She was supposed to protect him. But now, Flint fell into a trap. The illusion lured him and she didn't know how she would wake him up. He was like a standing corpse.
"Scarlet… what should I do? What is happening to him?" Cassie was now in a panicking mode.
"The mist… is sucking his soul… I could barely feel his life essence now, Master. We have to wake him up!"
"But how?" Cassie asked her fire dragon once again.
"I don't know. Punch him… slap him. Do everything! If it does not work, you have to enter his subconscious. He is trapped in an illusion. If he can't break it by himself, then we should do it for him.
We are running out of time, Master. He will die if all his life essence will be drained from him."
Cassie shook Flint's body so hard. She smacked his face twice. She even pinched his cheeks, his arms, and his waist. But nothing worked. He remained unresponsive.
"Damn! Flint! Please wake up!" She was on the verge of crying. The man she likes was in danger and she was running out of time.
"Scarlet… how can I enter his subconscious? Help me!"
"Just leave it to me, Master. I will connect you both." Scarlet said, reassuring her.
