B2 | Chapter 21 - Experimentation
The Duchy Seat of the Duchy of Night
Year 820 | Month 5 | Day 5
“Your Majesty!” a knight breaks into the throne room of the Duchy Seat, where King Archibald de Luna is seated on the throne at the end of the room, with the Duke of Night standing beneath the dais and several other nobles along with them. But before anyone can get upset with the knight’s interruption, he continues, “The Princess has killed one of the invader generals and sent another fleeing back to their world!”
The silence only lasts a single second before chatter breaks out in the throne room. Meanwhile King Archibald himself feels the corners of his lips rising out of pride.
I knew she could do it.
“This means the invaders of the New Earth Alliance only have a single general remaining on Earth!” one of the higher nobles says with more than a little excitement.
Then another adds their own comment, “If we can just take them down, then the war is our!”
The King raises a hand to silence the nobles before asking the soldier, “Where’s my daughter now?”
“Your Majesty, the Princess was last seen entering the Dark Forest,” the knight replies right away.
So she’s likely going after that pet of hers? While I’m not sure how that’ll go, it at least means she’s safe. Because I don’t think there’s anything dangerous enough to beat her in there.
“Very well,” he declares, standing up from his throne in the process and making everyone in the room kneel. “I hereby declare the start of the third major offensive against the invaders!”
“Yes, Your Majesty!” every last noble and knight in the throne room declares at once.
She did the hard part, so now I have to do my own part.

Well that’s interesting.
I can’t help but tilt my head as I look at the black and red flame floating above my hand.
After quite a bit of experimentation, I learned how to send my Wrath energy outside of my body. And then it took me just as long to figure out how to do something with it. But as it turns out, the trick to get it to do something is just to be, well, very willful about it.
To force it into doing what I want it to do, assuming it can do that. Since it is still limited in what it can do. And what it does do isn’t to a massive degree or anything.
I’m not even sure what this fireball will do. Just that I willed the Wrath energy to form a ball of fire.
Although I did manage to make Thrix 2 attack a tree on accident when I ordered the Wrath energy around me to go berserk. Which, as it turns out, makes the Wrath energy inside of creatures do that as well.
The severity of it seems to vary depending on how strong the creatures I use it on are compared to me, but it makes any creature around me begin to lose control of themselves and go berserk. Just like the Wrath energy inside of them.
I continue staring at the rather beautiful black and red flame. Then I look at the trees outside of the cave before shrugging and lightly tossing the black and red flame at them.
The moment the flame makes contact with the trees, it expands to cover the trees, burning brighter and brighter. Meanwhile everything that it burns turns into that same red ash that results from Wrath lightning.
Interesting. Not much different from Wrath lightning though.
After that, I try to will the Wrath energy to do quite a few more things. But most of it doesn’t really do much of anything. Like when I try to create a monster with the Wrath energy through manipulation, all I end up with is a tiny little spider that is only about a few inches in length. And it took far more Wrath energy to create it than the actual skill took.
Which is rather annoying.
Although I will admit, the spider is adorable. So I place it on the ground and watch it scamper off into the trees.
I glance at Thrix 2 to find him glaring at the spider. But I just turn away, acting as if I didn’t just see that.
Sometimes I really get the feeling that Thrix 2 is sapient or something. Or maybe gaining sapience.
But he’s just a hockathrix, so there’s no way that’s possible.
Surprisingly the Minor Wrath Manipulation skill just plain doesn’t want me to make Wrath lightning. Not sure why.
The Wrath energy just won’t do it.
Which I find odd.
I continue experimenting with my manipulation skill for a while until I’m eventually left with a basic understandings of it. One that does explain why I can’t use some of my skills with the skill.
The things Wrath energy can do seem to be separated into a few different groups.
One group is things I can do with ease, most of which are weaker than equivalent things I can do with my skills. Like the Wrath flames that are weaker than the Wrath lightning.
Another group is full of things I can do at a much weaker version. Like trying to create monsters with the Wrath energy which ends up with rather weak monsters at a far higher price than my skill.
And lastly, a group of things I just plain can’t do. Like Wrath Lightning for example.
That said, there’s one thing I haven’t tried doing yet. Something that I’m pretty sure isn’t going to work.
But I won’t know unless I try.
So, after a brief hesitation, I go ahead and attempt that last thing.
I will the Wrath energy to transform me into a beast.
And almost immediately after doing that, I let out a scream and fall down to the ground, convulsing in pain.
