The Butcher of Sargon (LoL x Arknight Fanfiction)

Chapter 86: Volume 1 Chapter 86: I Will Be with You!

As mentioned earlier, the civilization of the Lizardman is still relatively underdeveloped.

They have not yet learned to explore things they don't understand, instead attributing incomprehensible phenomena to more powerful beings—like gods!

They regard the rainy season in the Hotlands as a blessing from the gods and the arrival of hot winds as the gods' wrath.

Given this, it's not hard to understand why the Lizardman, after witnessing Garde dispel a disaster, would choose to kneel and worship him.

They saw Garde as an emissary of the gods, a saint sent by the gods to save them.

Even Raya and Muccaka weren't exceptions!

In fact, because they had interacted with Garde earlier and understood his extraordinary strength, seeing him perform a "miracle" only solidified their belief in his uniqueness.

Garde felt a bit conflicted seeing Raya and Muccaka behave this way.

Identity creates barriers, but Garde never discriminated against Raya and Muccaka just because they were natives of the Hotlands.

If he did, wouldn't that be the same as looking down on his own people in the rainforest?

Still, Garde only gave them a quick glance without explaining.

In the Hotlands, divine authority is more influential than royal power.

The Lizardman may have many tribes, but they all worship a single god.

"Let's talk about this later," Garde sighed internally.

Just as he was about to speak, he noticed a slightly smaller figure among the kneeling Lizardman.

Of course, this "small" figure was only small compared to the surrounding Lizardman; in fact, she was a few centimeters taller than Skadi.

The figure, hooded, obscured her face, but she clearly wasn't a Lizardman.

She looked more like a Feline.

Why would a Feline be in the Hotlands? Intrigued, Garde used his attribute panel.

He almost jumped in surprise when he saw the details.

Seeing the white-haired Feline blend in with the Lizardman and awkwardly imitate their kneeling posture, Garde was speechless for a moment.

This was truly characteristic of Kal'tsit, the ever-present problem-solver of Terra, a brick in the foundation of its infrastructure.

Wherever a problem arose, there she was.

He had just wondered if, with such major events happening in the Hotlands, Kal'tsit would show up.

Turns out she'd already been here.

Garde even suspected that Skadi's recent actions might have been instigated by this grandma.

After glancing at her a few more times, Garde shifted his gaze to the kneeling Lizardman before him.

He spoke, "Rise, children of the Hotlands!"

Despite the harsh environment they lived in, the Lizardman had not been crushed by the land's cruelty.

They had not succumbed to despair under the weight of survival, remaining optimistic and resilient.

If that's the case, why should they kneel?

"I did not dispel the disaster so that you would kneel before me!" Garde's voice, imbued with a certain magic, reached every Lizardman's ear.

Even the white-haired Feline hidden among them lifted her head, a subtle ripple disturbing her otherwise calm gaze.

The Lizardman exchanged glances.

They didn't dare whisper but were still hesitant.

Then, one Lizardman stood up.

"Raya?"

"Brother, Garde is still Garde. Even if he's a messenger sent by the gods, he's still the kind and gentle Garde we know."

The Lizardman girl Raya looked at Garde in the distance, clutching her hands together.

Then, seeing Garde nod at her, her previously uneasy heart instantly settled.

With one Lizardman leading, the others hesitated for a moment longer before rising one by one, their confused gazes still fixed on Garde.

Though Garde wasn't the tallest among them, he was certainly the most imposing.

His sturdy muscles, smooth scales, and powerful tail gave the other Lizardman the impression that only such a perfect being could be a messenger of the gods.

"Children of the Hotlands," Garde began, "I am here to give you a warning. A powerful and evil tribe is rising."

Since the Lizardman had no concept of nations, Garde used terms they could understand.

"They are cunning, powerful, and ruthless. They have come to bring disaster to this land. If we do not stop them, they will take our homes, and our loved ones and children will be enslaved."

"Do you want to hand over the food you've worked so hard to hunt? Do you want your wives and children to be slaves? Will you kneel to the invaders who will seize your home?"

Garde wasn't a great orator, but he knew that if he wanted the Lizardman's help, he had to make them united in their hatred for the enemy.

They needed to understand the consequences of the ancient civilization's revival.

Garde didn't believe for a second that a revived, highly advanced ancient civilization would consider the primitive Lizardman as their own people.

It would be a miracle if they didn't attempt to wipe them out.

The Lizardman were in an uproar.

They had just escaped one disaster only to be faced with another.

"Then, oh Messenger, what should we do?"

A cold voice sounded from the crowd.

Cleverly, someone chose to support Garde at just the right moment, acting as the perfect foil.

Garde looked toward the source of the voice, but the figure quickly ducked back into the crowd.

Ignoring her for now, Garde turned his attention back to the Lizardman before him and declared, "If we stand united, no matter the enemy, we can defeat them!"

"And I—"

A chaotic windstorm surrounded Garde, swirling the dust around him.

"I will be with you!"
