The Butcher of Sargon (LoL x Arknight Fanfiction)

Chapter 47: Volume 1 Chapter 47: No Loss

"Elliot, our transaction is complete."

After killing the sand guard, there were no more enemies around. Garde looked at Elliot and said solemnly, "The reason Ibut Lord Ameer dares to take action against the underground black market is because of the Golden City. I killed this sand guard, but that doesn't mean there won't be a second or third sand guard arriving."

"You need to prepare in advance."

Garde knew that Elliot had a grudge against Ibut Lord Ameer, but his relationship with Elliot wasn't close enough to provoke a Lord Ameer for him.

Moreover, even if Garde was willing to do so, Elliot certainly wouldn't be happy about it. Taking revenge personally is always the most satisfying.

"I understand. I will prepare all the supplies you need, but it might take a day."

Elliot nodded. The supplies Garde mentioned weren't a big deal to him. Apart from some vehicles needing further modifications, there were plenty of other items in the black market.

"As soon as the supplies are ready, we can leave at any time!"

After all this time, they could finally enter the Foehn Hotland. Even Saria couldn't help but clench her fists at this moment.

However, now wasn't the time to relax. They had just completed the preliminary preparations, and the real test would come once they entered the Wasteland.

Moreover, it was hard to guarantee that Ibut Lord Ameer wouldn't notice something was amiss.

The best plan was to have the main force enter the Wasteland while all the logistics personnel evacuated from Ibut's territory.

If possible, they would choose a different route back to Columbia to avoid Ibut's region.

As long as there was no concrete evidence, a Sargon Lord Ameer's suspicion wouldn't affect a large research organization far away in Columbia.

For some reason, even though they were about to enter the most dangerous forbidden area in Terra, Saria didn't feel lost or hesitant, as if someone had lifted half the burden off her shoulders.

"Garde."

"Hmm?"

"If you finish your business, why not join Rhine Lab?"

"Hah, what do you think I'd do there? Become a security guard?"

"Why not?"

"Unless you give me the position of head of security."

"Fine, I'll handle the resignation paperwork once I get back."

"Hey, I was just joking!"

"But I think you could do a great job as the head of security."

Saria said seriously. She wasn't joking; she genuinely believed it. "But I have no idea how to handle paperwork. That stuff is too much trouble."

"I can help you!"

"You're really trying to rope me into Rhine Lab, aren't you?"

Saria thought for a moment and nodded earnestly. "Yes."

Garde's strength and character were evident to her. If he joined Rhine Lab, their defensive capabilities would significantly improve.

As for signing documents and other tasks, she was already handling that along with her responsibilities in the business, engineering, and HR assessment departments. Removing her role as head of security would actually lighten her load.

"What are the benefits like at your place? Do you offer comprehensive insurance? Do you provide meals and accommodation? Just so you know, I have a huge appetite."

Garde had considered this option before. If he could control his anger, living in a city would be much more convenient than living in the rainforest.

Besides, Laurentina was used to living in the underwater cities of Agor. Making her live in the rainforest wouldn't be good for her.

The only issue was whether Columbia had laws against polygamy. Would marrying two girls be illegal there?

"For outstanding foreign talents, we always offer excellent benefits. Each department head has their own villa, furnished and designed by professional designers. If you have special requirements, you can let us know."

"You mentioned wanting to enroll in our school. I can recommend you to my alma mater. Graduating from Trimounts Institute of Technology will greatly enhance your future prospects and career options."

"You can take a commuting study mode. It might be a bit tiring, but the rewards are substantial. If there's anything you don't understand, you can ask me. I'll help you as much as I can."

It was clear that Saria really wanted Garde to join Rhine Lab. She explained everything seriously.

This seriousness didn't make Garde feel distant. Instead, he found it a bit endearing and pitied her.

Garde knew the pressure Saria was under. She loved the company she built with her own hands and wanted to make it better, to achieve the beautiful future she once promised.

This journey would inevitably bring misunderstandings and dissatisfaction, but she bore it all silently. Garde was the first person who could help her share this burden.

Because Garde, coming out of the rainforest, had no ambitions.

He had piles of red gold ore at home, and his strength could easily make him the Grand Chieftain of Acahualla. In Acahualla, the Grand Chieftain status was no less than that of a king, and often much higher.

The crocodile man had no other pursuits or desires except wanting to marry two wives.

But maybe that's just the way of the rainforest. Saria wouldn't judge Garde for wanting to marry two wives.

Besides, Garde was very gentle when not fighting.

Even his battle madness was directed only at enemies. He would risk himself to protect his tribe members.

This approach wasn't encouraged, but who wouldn't want someone to stand in front of them in times of danger?

However, who was the second wife Garde wanted to marry besides Gavial?

Although she had seen Laurentina, the language barrier prevented Saria from realizing how close she and Garde were.

The conversation she and Garde had from that night resurfaced in her mind, causing Saria some unease. Until she heard Garde's response.

"Since you say so, I'll graciously accept your offer."

He didn't know anyone else anyway, so why not stick with Saria? As for what might happen to Rhine Lab in the future, how could Garde let his company face trouble?

Beside Saria, the crocodile man walked shoulder to shoulder with her, his tall frame close.

For some reason, once the crocodile man agreed to her invitation, Saria's unease vanished. She stopped worrying about those messy thoughts or her own speculations.

'Let's take things as they come,' she thought. No matter Garde's intentions, bringing him to Rhine Lab wouldn't be a loss.

They walked side by side, completely ignoring someone.

"Hey, wait for me!"

Climbing out of the pile of debris, Carnelian shouted.

Garde had casually tossed her dozens of meters away, nearly breaking her apart.

She'd remember this grudge!
