Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Bloodshed
Crack!
Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack!
The sound of Garde teeth colliding with each other was loud and heavy, like a constantly opening and closing clamshells.
One, two, three, four, five... In the blink of an eye, over a dozen Sea Terror, each the size of small dogs, were already biting on Garde. They were trying to tear open Garde's flesh with their sharp teeth.
However, they only bit into a layer of tough skin, and several Sea Terror even broke their teeth because they bit too hard.
"Get off!"
Garde roared, swinging the large axe in his hand to his side.
Flesh and blood splattered!
An instant blank space appeared around Garde.
But soon, this small blank space was filled again. The stronger the scent of blood on Garde, the crazier the Sea Terror became.
The Sea Terror that crawled out of the river surged towards the shore like locusts, and the lead-gray ground was soon covered with red Sea Terror.
Some Sea Terror that hadn't grown limbs yet jumped onto the shore. They struggled like fish deprived of oxygen until the fins on both sides found a balance point to support themselves, gills used for breathing in water degenerated, and their bodies evolved into lungs or developed skin capable of breathing.
"Monster!"
Watching this scene from afar, Saria murmured to herself. She finally understood why Garde was so wary of Seaborns. Even the lowest-level Sea Terror possessed such powerful evolutionary abilities, not to mention true Seaborns, or the Seaborn Elite.
"Where's Garde?"
Looking towards the direction where the Sea Terror swarm was coming, Garde's body had been completely engulfed by the Sea Terror, leaving only a towering mound.
At least a few hundred Sea Terror enveloped Garde, making it impossible to see any sunlight from the outside.
If it weren't for occasional blood spraying from the mound, Saria would have thought that Garde had already been killed.
"Shark, is that guy an idiot?"
Even Skadi couldn't help but comment when she saw this scene. Even she wouldn't dare to get deeply entangled in the swarm of Sea Terror. One hundred, two hundred, she could kill them, but what about a thousand, two thousand? Moreover, the Sea Terror continuously pouring out of the river far exceeded one or two thousand.
Covering the mountains and plains, like endless weeds.
"Don't worry about him."
Laurentina chuckled, charmingly.
"That's his style!"
As Laurentina spoke, the mound of Sea Terror surrounding Garde seemed to be struck by something heavy. A pile of Sea Terror meat splattered, temporarily revealing Garde, who was biting a Sea Terror trying to get into his mouth.
"Protect yourself!"
Although it was just a glance, everyone somehow understood his meaning.
Skadi recalled that before, even though she had blocked Garde's mouth with a sword, he could still curse at her in her mind.
Though rude, Skadi had to admit that when Garde killed Sea Terror, it not only didn't give her a bloody feeling, but it also had a unique beauty.
"It's our turn, little Skadi. Don't get surrounded."
"No need to tell me, Shark!"
Skadi took off the large sword on her back. Facing Seaborns was the duty of Abyssal Hunters, how could she let an outsider steal the limelight?
If the school of Sea Terror was compared to surging tide, then Garde, standing in the middle, was an indestructible boulder.
With Garde as the center, the Sea Terror formation was split, and the Sea Terror density decreased significantly in front of Laurentina and others. Even so, there were still many Sea Terror around them.
Glancing at Saria, Skadi lifted her large sword and plunged into the Sea Terror swarm. Laurentina smiled at Saria, dragging her circular saw, and followed closely.
A white crystal condensed in Saria's hand. Regardless of Garde, Laurentina, or Skadi, none of them would force Saria to join the battle.
But Saria couldn't retreat in this situation.
"Choices made by humans are never just about interests, but also curiosity!"
As the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat.
For the people of Terra, this was also true.
Saria never denied her curiosity about the unknown. Otherwise, she wouldn't have co-founded Rhine Lab with her friends.
She just walked with more steadiness and composure.
Seeing Skadi, with a wide-brimmed hat in navy blue and black, wielding her large sword, either slashing or smashing, looking expressionless, even if blood splattered on her face, she showed no emotion.
Her posture was twisted and unrestrained, as if dancing an exotic dance on the battlefield.
Seeing Laurentina, Saria always felt that Laurentina seemed to be suppressing something, not using her full strength. The circular saw in her hand easily cut and killed the Sea Terror approaching her.
Dissect, tear, shred!
Occasionally, she caught a glimpse of the distorted and mad curvature at the corner of Laurentina's mouth, her smile was twisted, like those of a madman instead of a gentle young maiden she presented herself to Garde.
"Hehe..."
Reaching an exhilarating moment, Laurentina couldn't help but let out a crazy laughter. However, she seemed to realize something and looked towards Garde's direction, upon noticing that he didn't pay any attention to what she had just done, she let out a sigh of relief and quickly restrained herself.
Then, Laurentina casually used a circular saw to shred a Sea Terror's body, but with much more grace than before.
Suddenly, a layer of fine white scales appeared on her body and arms. It wouldn't affect her actions but would provide her with excellent defense.
On the other side, Skadi also had a similar "armor" appearing on her body.
Abyssal Hunters couldn't easily bleed, especially since they were currently isolated and bleeding could lead to a very bad situation. So, Laurentina and Skadi had been restraining themselves.
Refraining from rushing into the Sea Terror swarm for slaughter, unlike Garde.
However, this familiar scale armor on their bodies might allow them to be a bit more unrestrained.
"Probably done by that woman with horns on her head."
Laurentina saw Saria approaching the fish swarm, covering her hands with white calcium, forming gauntlets.
With every punch she threw, a Seaborn would die under her fist.
Saria originally wanted to use her own Originium Arts to create armor for Garde. Seeing wounds appearing on his body and some Sea Terror evolving stronger teeth and claws, grinding down the scales on Garde's body like saws on thick wood, Saria wanted to help. But she was too far away, and she couldn't control her Originium Arts to reach that distant place.
Moreover, Saria felt that Garde wasn't concerned about his body.
If Garde were an excellent warrior, he should know his situation.
Saria saw that Garde was smiling.
Garde had started bleeding, not just his own blood, but also that of the Sea Terror.
Some Sea Terror, upon discovering the bodies of their kin, didn't rush to attack Garde but stopped to devour their own kind's corpses.
After eating their own kind, the originally small Sea Terror, the size of small dogs, suddenly grew to nearly a meter in height.
Initially, hundreds of low-level Sea Terror were attacking Garde.
Ten minutes later, it turned into dozens of large Sea Terror attacking him.
Twenty minutes later, a giant beast taller than Garde took advantage of his inattention, biting his arm, and threw him tens of meters away.
"Their evolution is so fast!"
Garde clearly saw that the giant beast that had just attacked him had eyes that became intelligent, as if it gained its own wisdom.
And it wasn't just one.
After killing countless Sea Terror, seven of them were born.
After sighing, Garde's mouth curled into a bloody smile.
"But, I'm not bad either."
On Garde's character panel, belonging to Garde's hero template, Renekton level successfully increased from lv2 to lv3.
Killing at least a thousand Sea Terror, birthing dozens of large Sea Terror, resulting in the appearance of seven of these creatures.
Garde's hero level finally increased.
In the real world, the increase in hero level not only bestowed more of Renekton combat memories on Garde but also enhanced Garde's character attributes.
At the age of fourteen, he fought his way out of the Foehn Hotland, and his level increased from lv1 to lv2.
His physical strength, which was already very close to the racial limit, finally experienced a leap.
Now, his level increased again.
His already near-racial limit physical strength had a breakthrough.
Moreover, above the racial limit, there was a new level distinction.

Although other racial values did not undergo significant changes, as Garde mentioned before, even at the same level, there could be variations.
Surprisingly, the level of physiological endurance still remained undefined, which caught Garde off guard.
However, upon careful consideration, if it were just surpassing the racial limit, his teeth, claws, and scales couldn't possibly be sturdy enough to withstand Agor weapons.
Compared to Abyssal Hunters, what Garde lacked was, in fact, a more violent attack capability.
And this deficiency was compensated with the level increase.
The only thing that frightened Garde was that his height had increased by two more centimeters. Would he continue growing taller with each level increase?
Wouldn't he end up being four or five meters tall when he reached the maximum level?
He didn't want that to happen!
With the improvement in physical qualities, it was visually evident that Garde's muscle contours expanded another circle. Originally, his size surpassed that of the giant Seaborns, but in front of Garde, they seemed to become slender.
However, Seaborns that had gained intelligence wouldn't understand this.
They believed they had obtained the power to confront Garde.
Four Seaborn Elites attacked Garde, while the other three charged towards Laurentina, Skadi, and Saria.
Ordinary Sea Terror could hardly pose a threat to Abyssal Hunters.
However, evolving from Sea Terror to Seaborn Elite, they could break through Garde's defense before his level increased.
Seaborn Elite possessed the power to challenge hunters!
Moreover, with the battle ongoing, more and more Seaborns surged ashore.
The quantity had reached a point where even Garde found it challenging.
"Shark, there's a Seaborn Elite commanding them!"
"I know."
Feeling the irresistible urge for blood in her body, Laurentina shouted towards Garde's direction, "Mr. Crocodile, we need to leave!"
If the main brain wasn't dealt with, killing more cannon fodder would be useless.
It would only continuously spawn stronger Seaborn units.
The way hunters dealt with Seaborn Elite was to kill the main brain and hunt down the spawns.
The remaining Sea Terror would naturally retreat without fighting.
"You go first!"
Throwing his large cleaver towards the distance, a Seaborn Elite that was running towards Laurentina and the others hadn't even turned around when its head was split in half.
Facing the four Seaborn Elite rushing towards him, Garde, barehanded, ignored the attacks of the other three, catching one of them.
One punch! Two punches! Three punches!
After three punches, Garde grabbed the upper and lower jaws of the Seaborn Elite, emitting a low roar.
"Open up!"
A shower of blood splattered on Garde as he retrieved his cleaver. During the process, Garde killed another Seaborn Elite with his bare hands.
After getting the cleaver back, Garde chopped off half of one Seaborn Elite's head, making it emit a miserable howl, then bit down on the other Seaborn Elite that attacked his paw.
It was entirely an exchange of injuries.
By the time Garde had completely killed five Seaborn Elite, he was covered in blood.
Even the most powerful Abyssal Hunter wouldn't dare to fight like Garde.
This wasn't a battle; it was a fight for one's life!
In a different approach, Garde could easily kill them all without getting hurt.
But Garde didn't choose to do so.
He chose the fastest way to end the fight!
The two Seaborn Elite that were about to catch up with Laurentina and the others saw this scene and turned around without any hesitation.
In their view, Laurentina and her companions were completely unappealing compared to Garde.
Although the three of them also killed quite a few Seaborn Elites, compared to Garde, it was like a small witch facing a great one.
Moreover, Laurentina and her companions had been harvesting low-level Sea Terror without getting injured.
Garde was already heavily injured.
However, seeing two Seaborn Elite rushing towards him, Garde grinned.
In front of him were two Seaborn Elite, and behind him were thousands of Sea Terror.
For an ordinary person, the logical choice would be to face the Seaborn Elite, even if injured, rather than falling into the encirclement of the Sea Terror swarm.
But Garde didn't think that way.
The more Sea Terror, the better.
Because...
"I can regenerate, you know!"
With a sinister laugh, Garde charged into the Sea Terror swarm, unleashing the pent-up fury he had accumulated until now.
"Tyrant's Fury!"
The large cleaver in his hand seemed to grow several times in size out of nowhere. As hundreds of Sea Terror approached Garde, they collided with the rapidly spinning cleaver.
Like a crescent moon, the giant axe, meeting the weak lower-level Sea Terror, caused injuries or instant death.
After killing these Sea Terror, streams of blood essence flowed into Garde's body like mist, repairing the wounds on his body.
By the time the two Seaborn Elite approached Garde, they were facing a crocodile-man fully restored to his prime.
Looking at the two Seaborn Elite in front of him, Garde asked,
"Are you ready to embrace death?"
