Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Welcome to the Apocalypse!
After resolving the misunderstanding, it took some time for Garde and his group to leave the river extending from the waterfall and reach the confluence of the rivers.
Since the engineering vehicle carrying two Rhine Lab personnel disappeared, and all the work equipment was on board, the plan to set buoys at the river confluence went down the drain.
Fortunately, they now had the body of a Seaborn.
Whether or not there were more Sea Terror hiding in the depths, as long as they smelled the scent of their compatriot, they would definitely rush over.
Walking alongside Garde, Laurentina and Skadi did not go into the water.
Skadi walked while looking at the location of her buttocks, there was a rip on the top, revealing a bit too much.
She wanted to use the props she brought in her pocket to mend her pants, first standing still and turning her head for a while.
When she saw a few people walking away, she immediately caught up.
"I'll help you."
Walking behind, Saria noticed Skadi's actions and spoke up.
Skadi looked at Saria with confusion, and Saria gestured to sewing with her hands. Skadi understood immediately.
Because the torn part by Garde was at the tailbone, it was inconvenient for Skadi to sew it herself. Having someone help made it much easier.
The clothes of deep-sea hunters are sturdy, but they inevitably get damaged after battles with Seaborns.
So, the Aegir Research Institute invented a rapid suture pack, a byproduct of medical suture fasteners.
Stick the suture pack to the damaged area, pull it, just like a zipper, and both wounds and clothing holes will quickly close up.
Although there were some misunderstandings initially, Saria's curiosity about Aegir quickly overcame her previous hesitation.
Unfortunately, she couldn't understand the language of the Aegir people, and the Aegir people couldn't speak Columbian.
Thinking about this, Saria couldn't help but look at Garde, who was talking to Laurentina ahead, feeling that there was another layer of mystery about him.
Saria originally thought that Garde was just a Sargon tribesman who was lucky enough to escape the Hotlands.
But she didn't expect him to be not only fluent in Columbian but also completely different in speech and manners from ordinary Tiacauh tribe people.
When Saria thought she had figured him out, he showed strong combat abilities and captured an exotic female from another tribe, scaleless, hornless, and featherless.
Now, he has some connection with a country called Aegir.
The more she knows, the fewer chips Saria realizes she has. There aren't many things that Rhine Lab can use to impress the other side.
Ahead, Laurentina looked up at Garde and gestured with her hand.
"Mr. Crocodile, have you grown taller recently?"
"How is that possible?"
"You've obviously grown taller. I can't reach your head now."
"Really?"
Garde quickly glanced at his character panel.
Damn, 203!
Garde knew he couldn't get angry casually; he would grow taller when he got angry.
But he's tall enough now!
He's going to make friends with cute girls, not mate with mother crocodiles.
Seeing Garde's frustrated expression, Laurentina tilted her head.
"Mr. Crocodile, isn't growing taller a good thing?"
"But I don't want to grow taller anymore."
Garde touched his head and looked at Laurentina, who only reached his chest.
He sighed.
When he was 1.9 meters tall, Laurentina already seemed short.
If he grows a bit taller, he would look like an adult man and an underage girl when they stand side-by-side!
Crushing a Sea Terror that came to take away the Seaborn's body, Garde turned his head and looked behind. He didn't know when, but the relationship between Saria and Skadi had become somewhat intimate.
Anyway, it's a good thing.
Following the river, the view gradually opened up.
At first, there were many hills and bushes around, but later, only fine gravel and flowing river water remained.
The river was already deep here.
Currently, Garde couldn't use Renekton's power effectively, and he couldn't breathe underwater.
It would be troublesome if he got entangled.
He walked along the riverbank, dragging the tail of the dead Seaborn.
If Gladiia had not been injured, she could solve the trouble she caused herself.
Unfortunately, when he bit Gladiia, he used a bit of Ascension Power, damaging Gladiia's self-healing ability.
Fortunately, Laurentina and Skadi arrived. They were both experienced deep-sea hunters.
If it wasn't for the fact that killing Sea Terror and Seaborns could increase his hero template level, Garde felt that he could entirely leave the task of clearing Seaborns to them and leave.
Well, because of Laurentina, he would stay.
In Garde's eyes, Laurentina was petite, short, always smiling gently, and had a good temper.
Except for the first time they met when she always wanted to bite his tail, every time they met afterward, she would affectionately call him "Mr. Crocodile," as if she were a young lady from the city.
And he, just an ordinary rural crocodile, had a bit of brute strength.
Even so, Laurentina still kissed him.
What did that mean?
Does she like him?
If they really start dating, will Laurentina stay in Aegir or in Acahualla?
Acahualla's environment isn't great, and Laurentina might prefer humid weather but definitely not the stifling heat.
If he goes to Aegir?
However, despite both being fish, crocodiles don't even have gills to breathe underwater.
Staying in Aegir would eventually lead to drowning.
If he stays in the city, does he need to prepare a house for them to be their cozy nest? Is the real estate in the moving city expensive? Will the gold ore he picked up over the years be enough?
Garde's desire to become a scholar is not a joke. Although he knows he could do well as a mercenary with his strength, he doesn't want to travel around all year.
Moreover, the mercenary industry is prone to making enemies, not suitable for someone with a family.
Eliminating all enemies sounds simple in theory but is challenging in practice.
What if there's a fish that slips through the net?
Wouldn't that be troublesome?
"Mr. Crocodile!"
Laurentina's voice snapped Garde out of his daydreaming.
"Huh?"
"Enemies are coming!"
As Laurentina spoke, a tentacle over ten meters long suddenly emerged from the river, reaching out towards him and Laurentina.
Seeing this scene, Laurentina quickly sold out Garde.
Just as Laurentina dodged, the tentacle smashed onto Garde's head. The tremendous force made the ground beneath Garde shake.
Standing under the tentacle, it lifted it like a raised arch bridge.
Garde looked at the gigantic creature emerging from the river, a cruel smile appearing on the face of his crocodile.
"Welcome to the apocalypse!"
