"Wake up, lazy butt!" An enthusiastic ginger-haired girl shouts, waking up the boy

"It's morning! It's morning! It's morning! It's morning!~" the girl dashed around him and kept talking in a cheerful singing tone.

The boy sighs and goes to the restroom to brush his teeth. The girl follows and continues to speak to him whilst brushing

"I can't believe we've been at Beacon for a full twenty-four hours! Not that I thought we'd get kicked out or anything, I mean, you're the perfect student and I'm... well, I'm me! But it's just crazy, you know?"

Afterwards, in the ballroom, she is combing her hair and continues to chat while the boy did not say anything but listened to her while packing his sleeping bag

"We've been friends for soooo long! What are the odds we'd still be together? Well, not "together-together..." Not that I'm not saying that you're not handsome, you are handsome, but that'd just be weird, right?"

They're presently enjoying breakfast together. The boy still listens while eating. In contrast, the ginger-haired female is still conversing while eating pancakes

"Right! What was I thinking? But still, I hope we end up on the same team together!" she exclaimed, food in her mouth. She slurps the pancake in her mouth and says, "Oohhhh! We should come up with some sort of plan, to make sure we end up on the same team together! What if we bribe the headmaster? No, that won't work. He has the school"

Now in a locker room, the boy is now dressed in a dark green, diagonally buttoned, long-sleeved tailcoat that is red on the inside, with black and gold trimming and pink cuffs, wears a black, long-sleeved shirt beneath the suit and light-tan pants with black shoes. While the girl wears a collared black sleeveless vest, with a blue central front section with red accents, her vest has her emblem, on the back. Under the vest, she wears a white sleeveless t-shirt with a heart-shaped cutout above her breast line in the center accompanied with a pair of white detached sleeves on each arm, and a pair of light pink fingerless gloves. She sports a short pink skirt with a single white layer under it. Her white ankle boots sport pink soles, she also wears a silver armor piece that wraps around waist

"I know! We'll have some sort of signal! Like a distress signal! (Gasps) A secret signal so we can find each other in the forest! Can you imitate a sloth?"

"Nora?" He said, finally replying

"Yes, Ren?"

Ren sheathed his weapon Stormflower in his sleeves and said "I don't think sloths make a lot of noise"

"That's why it's perfect! No one will suspect we're working together!" Said Nora

"Come on Nora, let's go" said Ren, closing his locker and went out with Nora following him

"Not together-together..." She said while giggling

They both head out, passing by Ruby and Yang as they ready themselves

"Wonder what those two are so worked up about?" Asked Ruby

"Oh, who knows? So, you seem awfully chipper this morning!" Yang asked Ruby

"Yep! No more awkward small talk or "getting-to-know-you" stuff. Today, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking~" she said, lovingly stroking her scythe and sighs happily

"Well, remember, Ruby, you're not the only one going through initiation. If you wanna grow up, you're gonna have to meet new people and learn to work together" Yang reminded her, she received a groan from Ruby

"You sound like Dad! Okay, first of all, What does meeting new people have to do with fighting? And secondly, I don't need people to help me grow up! I drink milk!" She said

"But, what about when we form teams?" Yang questions her sister

"Um, I don't know, I... I'll just be on your team or the guy I met or something" answered Ruby with nervousness

Yang narrowed her eyes when she Ruby said about a guy's team that she just met

"What guy you met?" Yang asked her. Her big sister instincts acting up

"Yang, don't be like that. The guy I met was nice, he helped me out, even though he doesn't speak much, but still he's a nice guy!" Ruby remarked, attempting to ease her older sister, who is very protective of her like her father

Yang still wary asked another question "well...what's the guy's name?"

Ruby opened her mouth and raised her palm, but after a moment of thought, she gently closed her mouth and dropped her hand, realising she hadn't asked his name

"Umm...funny thing actually...hehehe...I don't know..." Ruby said embarrassed, scratching her head

"So, you met the guy and you didn't catch his name?"

"Uh, yeah..."

"Ruby..."

Ruby tried to find something to divert her sisters' attention away from her. She looked around and noticed from behind Yang the topic of their conversation

"Yang! Behind you, it's him! He's the guy I'm talking about!" Ruby gestures behind her. Yang went where she pointed and noticed a tall 17-year-old blonde going by

"Hey! Over here!" Ruby called him out, catching the blondes attention

The blonde stops and looks at who is calling for him. After seeing up close, he realized her to be the girl who he met in front of the academy

"It's you...Ruby Rose, correct?" He said

"Yup! That's me!" Ruby replied

Yang got a good look at him. Seeing him wearing nothing but a dark blue leather vest exposing his chest, a leather strap for his weapons behind his back, blue trousers, large brown boots, long blonde hair with a blue bandana around his head, and red tribal paint around his eyes all the way to his cheeks

"Soooo this is my sister, Yang" Ruby introduces and gestures her. Ruby nudge Yang a bit to greet him

"Well it's nice to meet you and thanks for helping my sister by the way. Gotta say, pretty bold for you to wear no shirt, loving the view~" replied Yang teasingly

"Yaaang!" Ruby groaned, really tired and embarrassed by her sisters teasing

"I am comfortable with my current attire" he takes a look at them and says "it seems you two are ready as well for the initiation?"

"You betcha!" Yang smiled, giving him a thumbs up while Ruby nods her head

"By the way what's your name? I haven't asked about it when we met" Ruby said

"I am Nightwolf" he introduced himself, gaining a amused chuckle from both sisters

"Pfft- I'm sorry but Nightwolf? Really?" Yang questions while chuckling a bit

"Sounds like a superhero name, but what's really your name"

"You will know my name soon" he said as he now heads out, passing by Weiss Schnee and Pyrrha Nikos

Ruby and Yang followed him behind and engaged more conversations

"Oh, trying to be mysterious huh... alright we'll play your game" said Yang, she puts her arms behind her head as she said that

Ruby's gaze wanders to Nightwolf's weapon on his back and right hip. First, the one on the back resembles a rifle, but the vast section of the weapon has a bladed edge. The next one is on the hip, and it's similar to an axe. Nightwolf, not aware of what was occurring behind him, suddenly Ruby got in front of him. He was astonished by how fast she went, but he quickly composed himself

"Arethoseyourweapons?!whatdotheychangeinto?doesitturnintoagun?whatabouttheoneonetheback?canthetwoofitcombineintoonebigawesomegun?!" Ruby started speaking rapidly making it hard to understand her. She was geeking out as she turned herself into 2D as she zooms around Nightwolf

"Whoa, slow down yourself lil sis. Your confusing him" Yang got a hold of Ruby, who now turns back to normal

"Hehehe. Sorry! Sometimes I get really excited when I see weapons" she apologized. Nightwolf nodded, accepting her apology but still confused on what just happened

At Beacon Cliff, overlooking a forest, where several students are standing on silver tiles in front of Ozpin, who has a mug of coffee, and Glynda with her tablet. Ozpin started speaking

"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest"

"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today" Glynda said

"What? Ohhh..." Ruby muttered

"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well" Ozpin said

"(Groan)"

"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years"

Shattered glass could be heard as cracks appeared around Ruby, shocked she could only utter "Whaaaat?!"

"See, told you~" Nora said to Ren

"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die" he said the last word literally

Nightwolf just listens to what Ozpin and Glynda say, without giving heed to the others

"You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?" Ozpin asked. Seeing no one raising hands, he starts. "Good! Now take your positions"

Nightwolf and the others ready themselves as one by one they are being launched by the tiles to Emerald Forest

Seeing this, Nightwolf crouches down. As the tile sprung up, launching him up flying through the air. From the distance he could've swore he heard Ruby's voice

"Birdie, no!"

As Nightwolf soars through the skies above the forest, he notices a big tree to his right. He drew out his tomahawk and held it tightly. As he approached the tree, he swung and stabbed it at the right time, stopping him. He grabs ahold of a branch and looks around his surroundings

'I've flown fairly far from the cliff,' he thought. He slides down safely and begins freerunning from tree to tree, assassin's creed style, going north

As he traversed through the forest, he heard the sounds of fighting and growls. Thinking it's the other initiatives, he ignores them. He was suddenly ambushed by a pack of beowolves. One tried to take a swipe but he rolled and dodge as it missed. He looks around him and counted five surrounding, he equipped his tomahawk, and ready for the fight

One lunged at him, but Nightwolf used it to his advantage, ducking and slashing the beowolf upwards on its neck, decapitating it. Two roared and charged at him. He duplicates his tomahawk, dual wielding both on his hands and with a roar, he runs towards the Grimm. The Grimm bloodthirsty, attempts to bite the approaching Nightwolf but he jumps and slams both tomahawks on the nape making it squeal in pain and dies. He sets his sights on the other one and tries to stab him using its claws. He sidesteps the attack and shoulder bashed it, staggering the beowolf and causing its bone armour to crack. He immediately starts slashing it to death while immobile, he sees another approaching and throws one of his tomahawks, splitting its skull. He looks around as the corpses begin to dissolve. By instinct, he dashed away avoiding a slash to the head by one big bulky beowolf

'that must be an alpha' he thought

It roars at him and launches a barrage of slashes. Nightwolf safely avoided the attacks as the alpha beowolf started to go for the bite. Seeing this, he sidesteps away, avoiding the bite and slams his tomahawk on its right eye. It roared in pain as it tried to get away to gain some distance, but Nightwolf conjured a bow made of green energy and shot arrows, hitting it on the neck, its remaining eye, and left leg. Now injured and unable to move, he runs and calls to his tomahawk that is lodged on the beowolf's eye and gets it out, catching it. He swipes upwards slicing its mouth and uses his club as it pulses with green energy and smashes its head to pieces, killing it. He stands before the dead alpha beowolf and sheathes his weapons and starts his way to the north end.

He was about to walk away, when he suddenly heard a twig snap. Reacting swiftly, he threw his tomahawk towards the bushes when he heard an "AAAHHHH?!"

After hearing this, he decides to investigate. He sweeps away the bushes and realises it's the red-haired girl he saw in the locker area. Seeing her terrified because his tomahawk was a few inches away from her face, caught in a tree

"My apologies" he offered his hand to her, which she accepts "I thought you were a Grimm"

"No worries. But I'm sorry for startling you, it was my fault to begin with" Pyrrha said

"Do not apologise, it was my mistake for almost killing you there"

She nodded and said "guess this means you're my teammate"

"It appears so. Let's move, north is this way" he pointed to the direction where north is, as the both of them walk through the dense forest

"I'm Pyrrha by the way" she introduced herself

"Nightwolf" he said, getting themselves acquainted

(Back at the cliff)

"The last pair has been formed, sir" she taps her tablet to show the scene "Nora Valkyrie and Lie Ren. Poor boy...I can't possibly imagine those two getting along" she taps on her tablet and shows Nightwolf and Pyrrha's trek

"Mmmm..." Ozpin hummed as he focused his attention on two students on the screen

"Sir, I must ask. Why did you decide to enroll...err... Nightwolf, to the academy? I quite don't understand, Someone who has not attended in a academy couldn't just piqued your interest that much?" Glynda asked, she wonders what made the headmaster interested in someone who they met one day from the woods

Ozpin didn't reply as he watches Ruby Rose and Nightwolf through the screen

(Back to Nightwolf)

Pyrrha and Nightwolf have been walking through the woods for a few minutes. They encounter a dark cave, Nightwolf looks around to see if this is the temple the headmaster is speaking

"Do you think this is the temple?" Pyrrha asked

"We won't know if we don't confirm it is" he urges Pyrrha to accompany him into the cave, oblivious of the danger hiding inside

He grabbed a nearby branch and made a torch illuminating the cave. They explored the cave trying to see if this is the place they're meant to find

"So, Nightwolf. Is that really your name?" She asked

Nightwolf glanced at Pyrrha and answered

"It is a title that has been given to me by the great spirit"

"The great spirit?"

"Yes, the great spirit has given me the mantle of Nightwolf. The protector of my people. The tribe of Matoka"

"So you're from a tribe. Does that mean you live outside the kingdoms?" Pyrrha said

"Yes"

"You held your title proud huh...sounds great"

Nightwolf looks at Pyrrha who has a sad expression on her face

"You seem...troubled" he said

"Oh...sorry but uh...I wanted to ask, do you know me?"

"I only know you when I saw you in the locker room" he answered

Pyrrha stopped walking and stared at him. He noticed this and stopped as well

"You really, like really don't recognize me somewhere? Like at all?" She asked, and wanted to know if he really didn't recognize her fame

"Is there something I must know about you?" He asked her

Pyrrha's eyes widened and quickly composed herself. "Oh, no it's just a silly question. Sorry about that"

Nightwolf looked at her for a moment and nodded and continued. Pyrrha sighs a relief 'he doesn't know' she said in thought happy that she met someone not familiar with her

Nightwolf spotted something on the walls. He goes to take a closer look and sees cave paintings. Paintings of humans fighting some kind of beast he deduced. Pyrrha catches up to him and sees the cave paintings

"So, where does the Matoka tribe reside?" She asked

Nightwolf hesitated, he didn't think he would be asked this question. After a moment of silence he replied

"... the Matoka are long gone" he said

The red-head gasp " I'm sorry...I didn't know-"

"It's all right" he cut her off "let's go, this place is not what we are looking for"

Pyrrha just nodded. She was about to turn around when she noticed something glowing in the distance

"Nightwolf?" She called him out

Seeing her confused, he followed where she was looking and saw something glowing in the distance. He squinted his eyes and saw it moving, he then saw a brief flash of red and an ominous growl coming from it.

"We need to run, now!" He shouts

Recognizing the danger, he dropped his torch and grabbed Pyrrha's arm as they ran to the exit of the cave

The cave started to shake, as if something had awakened. Its red glowing eyes saw the two fleeing, it released a screech

*SCREEEECH*

We see a familiar blonde girl with a black haired girl arriving at the temple

"Are those, chess pieces?" Blake questioned

"Hmm...how about a cute pony?" She asked Blake

After getting the "relics" they heard something from afar

"Do you...hear something?" Yang asked, looking around where the sound is coming from

"Umm, Yang" Blake called her out and pointed upwards

Following where she is pointing she sees a faint figure falling fast. She squinted her eyes and widened when she saw

"Ruby?!"

"Heads uuuuupppp!!" Ruby flails her arms around as she tries to slow down her fall. Fortunately, she was caught in the arms of her sister

Ruby looks at her shocked sister and happily hugs her "Yang!"

"Did your sister just fall from the sky?" Blake questioned

"I..."

She was interrupted when they heard a few crashing noises and out comes an Ursa with Nora riding on its back, as a pink blast shot it from behind and drops dead

"YEEE-HAAAWW!" She rolls to the ground after the Ursa dropped dead "awww...it's broken" she sadly said and stands up. Following behind her is Ren, who is panting for air

"Nora! Please...don't ever do that again" he said as he looks up and sees Nora nowhere on sight frantically trying to find her

Nora now in the temple looks at a golden rook and takes it "I'm queen of the castle~! I'm queen of the castle~!" She happily said

"Nora!"

"Coming, Ren!" She skips towards him, holding the relic in her hand

"Did that girl just ride on an Ursa?"

"I..."

She is interrupted once more as a shriek is heard to their right. Pyrrha and Nightwolf emerged from the woods and narrowly evaded an uprooted tree thrown by a Death Stalker. Nightwolf summons his bow and attempts a shot, but the Death Stalker's armour is more durable than he thought

"Did they just run all the way here with a Death Stalker on their tail?" Blake asked again. This time, Yang growled in anger as she erupted a small burst of fire, eyes flashing red

"I can't take it anymore! Can everyone just chill out for two seconds before something crazy happens again?!"

The sound of a clock counting down is heard and after two seconds she calms down, Blake and Ruby looking up

"Ummm...Yang?" She tugs her sister by the sleeve and points up

Up above, Weiss is revealed to be hanging on a talon of a gigantic Nevermore

"How could you leave me!!" She called down to Ruby

"I said "jump" she shouted up to Weiss

"She's gonna fall" Blake bluntly said

"She'll be fine"

"She's falling" said Ren

Nightwolf looks up and sees the falling Weiss. He jumped up, raised his arms and caught her, she mumbled a "thank you" and was gently put down to the ground when they landed

The Death Stalker seeing more prey in its sights, rushed towards them

"Great! The gangs all here! Now we can die together!"

"Not if I can help it!" Ruby charges towards the Death Stalker

"Ruby, wait!"

Ruby was suddenly grabbed by her shoulder. She looked who it was and saw it was Nightwolf who stopped her

"Nightwolf? What are you doing?"

"Rushing in without a plan will only get you killed, and we have to deal with that Nevermore," he pointed out, indicating that the Nevermore was coming

"What do we do?" Ren asked with StormFlower on his hands

"We will deal with the Death Stalker while Ruby and others deal with the Nevermore" Nightwolf said

"...unless you have problems with this plan. Then please, if you have a better idea then let's hear it then" he immediately said this as soon as he saw Weiss about to make an objection

Seeing as no one speaks out. He turns to Pyrrha, Ren and Nora

"Let us take on the Death Stalker" he said, receiving nods from them

"All right guys, while Nightwolf and the others fight the Grimm on the ground. We'll fight the other in the air!" Ruby declared

"Yeah!" Said Yang raising her fist up

"Uh, guys... that thing is heading for us" Blake said

They scatter as soon as they see the Nevermore approaching. Nightwolf, Pyrrha, Ren, and Nora confronted the Death Stalker, while Ruby, Yang, Blake, and Weiss fought the flying Grimm, prompting Ruby to shift her Crescent Rose into it's sniper form. She shot at the Nevermore, but it moved away and avoided the bullets. It retaliates by blasting feathers at Ruby, prompting her to flee. It swaps targets and closes in on Weiss, trying crushing her with its massive wings. Weiss notices this and summons a glyph, using it as a platform to leap away, dodging the assault, and counters with ice dust in Myrtenaster, launching an ice slash on the Nevermore's back, forcing it to caw in pain. Blake notices this and instantly uses Gambol Shroud to strike at the damaged Grimm. Yang enters and delivers an uppercut, using Ember Celica fires a shotgun blast, staggering and damaging it. Ruby appears from above and performs an overhead cut to its head, killing it

Seeing the dead Nevermore, she celebrated

"We did it!" Said Ruby as she received a tight hug from her sister

"Oh, I'm so proud of you sis!" Said Yang

"Yang...need..to...breathe" Yang reluctantly releases the hug and smiles at her. Blake and Weiss gave the siblings an amused expressions

"Wait, we need to get to the others. They might need our help" Ruby said

Getting nods from the three they went to others

(With Nightwolf)

Nora continued to launch grenades at the Death Stalker to confuse it, while Pyrrha kept its stinger away from them while Nightwolf and Ren inflicted damage on its legs. It lifts its pincers and strikes into the ground, causing the ground to tremble and dust to rise. It then uses its stinger to hit Pyrrha, but Nora swats it away with her hammer. It was going to strike again but was stopped when its eyes were shot with arrows. Nightwolf prepares to shoot again, but finds it difficult with its stinger and pincers attacking them. It grabbed Ren and threw him to the ground

"Ren!" Nora shouted

Nightwolf helps him up "can you still fight?" He asked. Ren nodded, they all regroup while the Death Stalker continues to blindly attack

"It's blind, now's our chance!" Nightwolf said

Nora raced in first, preparing her hammer as pink electricity coursed through it. Ren fired rounds to catch its attention. The blind Death Stalker approaches Ren, feeling the bullets from StormFlower. Nora pounded her hammer into its legs, inflicting great pain since some of its legs are broken and others are gone. Pyrrha sees it down, she throws her spear at it, and it hits its target squarely in the head. Ren jumps and falls on its torso, then uses StormFlowers' blades to chop off the base of its tail. It shook its body, forcing Ren to fall off and be saved by Nora

They heard a wolf howl coming from Nightwolf. They noticed a blue spirit like a wolf next to Nightwolf, who absorbed the spirit of Kiba, his body shining with a blue aura. He duplicates his tomahawk and charges towards the pinned Death Stalker. Ruby and the others came barely in time to see the spectacle. The Death Stalker, relying on its other senses, uses it's pincers trying to catch him but he evades it and slices a gap between the bone armour. He rolls away, dodging a strike from the left, he then stabs both tomahawks on its exposed pincer. The Grimm roared in pain as it tried to shake off Nightwolf, but he held on. He then tries to jump off it but was caught by it's recovered pincer, trying crushing his torso as Nightwolf groans in pain

"Nightwolf!" They shout, worried that he would be cut into two. Ruby rushed to help but stopped when she heard a bears growl. They saw a brown bear's spirit behind Nightwolf, he then uses the spirit of Komo to tear of the pincers. He dropped to the ground and stands back up. He saw Pyrrha's spear still latched on its head, he summons his bow as it changed to a blue color. He charged up his bow and let the arrow fly, hitting Pyrrha's spear as lightning ran through it, then to the Death Stalker's body.

Seeing it paralyzed, he summons his spirit animals as it attacks the paralyzed Grimm, he shoots three arrows, hitting it's target. He summons back his tomahawk, then with a leap he strikes it on its head and summons a bolt of lightning to electrocute it. As the lightning stops it finally fell down and starts to dissolve to ash

All of them saw the scene Infront of them. Shock, surprise, and amazement are shown in each of their faces

(Back at the hill)

Glynda was gobsmacked at what they just watched. She was ready to step in when she saw two gigantic Grimm, attacking their students. She was impressed by Ruby, Yang, Blake, and Weiss's teamwork against the Nevermore. She was also impressed with Pyrrha, Ren, and Nora. But she was most shocked when she saw how Nightwolf fight. When she saw the spirits, she thought it was some kind of summoning semblance but she was wrong when she saw him summoning literal lightning from the sky, making her curious on what he just did

Ozpin was equally delighted by Ruby's performance, and he was startled when he saw Nightwolf's. He wanted to speak with him about his unique talent. But he still has an initiation to run, so he sets it aside and promises to talk to him one day

(Back to Nightwolf)

Seeing the corpse of the Grimm he prayed

"Thank you, great spirit" he muttered

He was suddenly hugged by Nora with Ren running to them

"THAT. WAS. AWESOME!" She said

They gathered around him, asking him questions and congratulating him

"Nightwolf! What you did there was so cool!" Ruby said

"Yeah, looks like you have more tricks on your sleeves huh, muscles~?" Said Yang with a new nickname for him

"That..is impressive" Weiss said, surprised to see his animal summons

Blake nodded at what she said and has the same thoughts of Weiss. Yang spoke up in-between them

"But damn! The way you tear off the Death Stalker's pincers was so cool! How did you do that? And how did you summon that ghost bear or whatever" she asked

"Indeed, along with the wolf you summoned" said Ren

Nightwolf, smiles a bit and says "questions for another time..." He heard groans of displeasure from them. He goes and picks up his tomahawk and Pyrrha's spear and gave it back to her. She gets it and sheathes it to her back. "Thank you" she said

"Right now, we must complete this initiation" he said as he walks back to the abandoned temple with others following behind

"Russel Thrush. Cardin Winchester. Dove Bronzewing. Sky Lark. (the screen of the auditorium shows each of their profiles as the boys are lined up for the applauding audience to see as Ozpin continues) The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL, led by... Cardin Winchester!" Ozpin announced

The audience gives one more wave of ovation, while four students walk up to the stage to take their places in front of the headmaster as their faces fill the screen

"Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long. (motions over the four as they stand before him) The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!"

Weiss looks to her right surprised, where Ruby is obviously in shock as Yang goes over to hug her sister.

"I'm so proud of you!" Said Yang

"And finally: Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR. Led by Jaune Arc!"
