Chapter 18: Chapter 18 - All's Fair in War
Chapter 18 - All's Fair in War
"Huff! Huff!"
As the number of recruits blocking his way dwindled, Rosha's breathing grew heavier.
His stamina wasn't infinite.
After more than half an hour of fighting, he felt immense fatigue.
His clothes were shredded entirely, reduced to rags like a beggar's outfit.
Blood stained his entire body.
Some of it was his own, and some sprayed from his opponents.
"Skills, techniques, combat awareness… I'm lacking in so many areas. If I could master these, I could defeat them more easily."
Panting heavily, Rosha thought to himself.
He scanned the surroundings with slightly reddened eyes.
"Twelve, fifteen, seventeen more left. Huff! I'll take them all out at once! I'm so hungry; I want Uncle Deno's octopus fried rice."
Rosha's stomach was empty, and his aura grew increasingly fierce.
For some reason, whenever he felt hungry, the buried negative emotions within him would surge uncontrollably.
"Ah! Monster! We can't possibly defeat this monster. I'm out. You guys can keep fighting; I give up."
At the moment their eyes met Rosha's slightly reddened gaze, seven or eight recruits could no longer suppress their fear and immediately turned and jumped off the platform.
The remaining eight surrounded a man with exceptionally long and strong legs, holding swords and knives, watching Rosha nervously.
"Sorry, Rosha. You're really strong. I, Hammor, admire those with unwavering determination. You count as one."
The long-legged fighter, Hammor, raised his right leg, striking a golden rooster stance. "But I have a reason to win this battle, so forgive me for holding back until now."
Breathing heavily, Rosha clenched his fists and said deeply, "Don't worry. I won't underestimate anyone for such simple reasons. Bring it on!"
"Good! As a warrior of the Long-Leg Tribe, I swear on my honor, if I lose, I'll serve under you!"
Hammer shouted, and the eight men before him immediately gripped their swords and slashed at Rosha.
Simultaneously, Hammor followed closely, his long legs moving swiftly like a spider, circling behind Rosha in an instant.
Most of Rosha's attention was on Hammor behind him.
He could sense that among the nine, only Hammor posed the most significant threat.
The other eight, despite being armed, were not much of a danger to him.
Just as Rosha thought this, the eight burly men threw their swords and knives at the stunned Rosha.
Caught off guard, Rosha had no time to dodge and could only cross his arms in front of him to block.
He trusted his muscle and bone density to withstand the blows without much damage.
However, to Rosha's shock and anger, the eight men, after discarding their weapons, did not stop. They took out packets of white powder from their pockets and threw them at Rosha's face.
Unprepared for such a dirty trick, Rosha was caught in a cloud of lime powder!
The white powder covered Rosha entirely.
Instantly, his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth were filled with the powder.
Especially his eyes.
The lime powder stung his eyes intensely, causing tears to flow, which only worsened the irritation, making him scream in pain.
"Ugh!"
The searing pain forced him to clutch his eyes and drop to his knees on the platform.
This sudden turn of events left the officers and others, who were still in awe of Rosha's power, stunned.
After a moment of shock, their faces changed.
"Bastards! Using such despicable tactics! If they damage Rosha's eyes, I'll…"
Rear Admiral Adilla roared like an enraged lion, ready to rush onto the platform.
Hibari was equally frantic, watching Rosha clutch his eyes in pain.
"Brother Rosha! Dad, save Brother Rosha, his eyes! Daws, why are you just standing there? Help him!"
Daws gritted his teeth but didn't move.
Deno held Hibari back, his hand firm on her shoulder.
"Trust him. That boy won't give up so easily."
"In this world, brute strength alone makes you a mere warrior. You must use your mind and adapt to overcome all enemies."
Akainu's deep voice echoed in their ears.
Adilla halted his steps.
Everyone held their breath, eyes fixed on the platform.
The battle wasn't over!
"Sorry, kid! I must win! Forgive my underhanded tactics! Whirlwind Triple Kick!"
Seeing Rosha in agony, clutching his eyes and kneeling, Hammor sighed but rushed in with determination. Using his left leg as a pivot, he spun on the hard platform, his right leg lashing out like a whip towards Rosha's neck, spine, and head.
Decisive, ruthless, with no hesitation!
This is why the North Blue is known as the strongest sea.
Its harsh environment breeds tough people!
Boom! Boom!
The first two kicks were powerful. Hammor believed his leg strength, capable of shattering rocks, would overwhelm Rosha's physique at its weak points.
Feeling his leg strike flesh, Hammor's face showed a victor's smile.
Still spinning, his long right leg lashed out again.
This time, the force was so great it caused the air to explode with a crack.
"The lieutenant's position is mine!"
"Using tricks is a valid tactic, but…"
Amidst the falling white powder, a staggering figure stood firm, silver hair writhing like serpents.
In Hammor's shocked eyes, Rosha's long silver hair extended as if alive, wrapping around his kicking leg and lifting him into the air.
Suspended midair by the silver hair, Hammor watched Rosha sweep away the white powder with a wave of his hand.
Charging forward, Rosha spun like a whirlwind, his right leg slicing through the air like a guillotine, striking Hammor's chest.
"The winner is me!"
Boom!
