The Billionaire's Dilemma

Chapter 50: The Evidence in Hand

Emily arrived at Blackwood Enterprises the next morning, her heart pounding as she clutched a flash drive containing the evidence against Marcus. The message from the unknown number still haunted her, but she refused to back down. Julian needed this proof if he had any hope of stopping Marcus's takeover.

When she stepped into Julian's office, he was already pacing. The tension in his shoulders was undeniable. "You shouldn't be here," he said, his voice low. "If Marcus knows you're investigating"

"I found something," Emily interrupted, holding up the flash drive. "Proof that he's been embezzling through offshore accounts."

Julian stopped cold. "You're sure?"

Emily nodded. "I double-checked everything. This is enough to not only stop him but to have him removed from the company permanently."

A Risky Presentation

An emergency board meeting was scheduled for later that day. Julian insisted Emily stay behind he didn't want her in Marcus's crosshairs any more than she already was.

As the meeting began, Marcus sat confidently at the head of the table, his calm demeanor barely masking his arrogance. "I called this meeting to address recent concerns about the company's direction," he said smoothly. "It's clear that personal matters have distracted Mr. Blackwood."

Julian leaned forward. "Actually, Marcus, I'd like to address something far more serious." He slid a folder across the table. "This contains evidence of fraudulent transactions linked directly to you."

A murmur swept through the room. Marcus's expression hardened. "This is a desperate attempt to discredit me."

But Julian remained unfazed. "Desperate or not, the numbers don't lie. I've already shared this evidence with our legal counsel."

For the first time, doubt flickered in Marcus's eyes.

Marcus Strikes Back

When the meeting adjourned, Marcus stormed out of the boardroom and confronted Julian in the hall. "You think this is over?" he hissed. "I know who's been feeding you information."

Julian's muscles tensed. "Stay away from Emily."

Marcus's lips curled into a cold smile. "I hope she knows what she's getting herself into. Because if she keeps digging, she'll regret it."

A Dangerous Turn

Later that night, as Emily left her apartment, a shadow moved across the street. She barely noticed until a sleek black car pulled up beside her. The window rolled down just enough for a chilling voice to reach her ears.

"You've made a mistake, Ms. Taylor. Stay out of things you don't understand."

The car sped off, leaving Emily shaken but more determined than ever. If Marcus thought he could scare her away, he was dead wrong.
