Chapter 44: Last day in Valyria part 4
I gave priority in the line to the VIPs and cabin passengers first. The first to "cut" the line was the VIP I hadn't registered yet, a boy and his father named Jhon and Josué, the father was a merchant and his son an alchemist. I mentioned that I was an alchemist too and that relaxed the son and father who seemed tense when boarding. I didn't question them too much and only filled out what was necessary, so I could later find out the reason for their trip. Next came Liza and her sister Zaya, the first was all smiles about the trip and her sister, as always, didn't show much expression. I told Liza to surprise Omar, since he still doesn't know she's going with us and she smiled and went ahead.
Next were the young newlyweds, both of whom also bought a cabin alone on the first day. I welcomed them to the ship and they followed with some crewmen carrying their luggage. The two sisters named Katia and Karine, the eldest of whom is looking for a new opportunity far from her past in the city of Valyria, also arrive and I wish them a safe journey. Soon I have a short break without any VIPs or cabin passengers arriving. I take the opportunity to let the families of the crew pass. Their tickets are common and I give them hygiene items, their metal mugs with the name of the sailboat and two towels. I also warn them not to go up to the deck before the ship leaves and that dinner will be served at 9:00 pm.
Before all the crew members' families can board, the madam and her four girls arrive. They all come in smiling and waving to the sailors and I hear several whistles among the crew members. Some of the single men also arrive, three to be exact. I warn them about sharing a cabin with six instead of five, but they accept the change well. I think they are afraid of having their money returned and being denied entry. I go back to receiving the regular crew members for almost an hour. 12 of them have already arrived. I see that the last three men from the singles' cabin are also here, thus closing the number of passengers in the cabins. Gordo and Jack take a cabin each, with Mr. Arthur taking the last one, leaving us with one empty cabin. There should be two left, but I let the 11 children have one since they paid a part and will work on the ship. The remaining passengers arrive around 5:00 pm, but two people have not yet shown up, totaling 18 out of 20. They still have 1 hour to board, I hope they can. No less than 30 minutes later, when I am about to leave the final minutes of boarding for Aisha and Ted, I see 4 people approaching, it can only be the last VIP. When I see who it is, I am surprised, it is Lord Esmer! There were only details of one servant on the list and 3 more passengers. He is also surprised to see me before smiling and approaching saying:
"You? I didn't think I would see you again, Red Sage."
"I didn't think I would see you again, Lord Esmer, you can call me Rafael on the ship. I am one of the owners of this sailboat. I hope you have a good trip."
I take his documents and register only as Blood Mage without questioning much. He is accompanied by his apprentice Vitarys, the servant who bought the ticket and a 10-year-old child. He then answers.
"Thank you, just Esmer or Lord Esmer is enough, I'm no longer a wizard of the 39 families."
I understand what he's saying between the lines, so I finish the passenger registration to prepare for the loot. Before that, I review the passenger list one last time. We have 108 passengers and a baby, it should have been 110. I'm a little over the goal of having only 100 people, but remembering that there are almost 15 children and teenagers, we should be fine. I return to my cabin and empty my inventory, put on my full leather armor, just replacing the bracers with metal ones. I equip the pistol again, leave 2 loaded crossbows in the inventory just in case, and I'm finally ready. My inventory should be enough for the 10 tons we need, but I plan on collecting three times that. I just don't know if we'll have time to board with everything.

It's almost 6:05 p.m. when an apparently drunk man approaches the two guards who have just changed shifts in the signaling and entry area of the special cargo port. After making small talk and complaining about the recent lack of employment, the man offers his drink to the guards and asks for help in getting a job tomorrow. Seeing that the man was just being nice and wanting one of tomorrow's temporary jobs, the guards don't refuse the drink and soon begin to talk and drink before becoming drowsy and falling to the floor unconscious.

On the ship Golden Dragon, a man dressed as a guard arrived and asked to speak to the first mate. One of the crew's guards began to guide him to the main cabin, but when they were almost there, the crew member had something pressed on his neck and fell unconscious. Then, inside the cabin, the first mate, who was sitting with his legs on the table, heard the door to his cabin open. He saw a man dressed as a city guard.
"Are you in charge of the ship?" he asked as he approached him.
The first mate replied that he was and began to find the approaching guard suspicious. However, the supposed guard wasted no time. He advanced on the first mate at a speed too fast for him to react, knocking him out and applying something to his neck. He then left the captain's cabin and began to climb one of the ship's masts in the blind spot of the two lookouts at the top.
One of the lookouts on the mast, who was unaware that danger was approaching, began to see something strange. Two medium-sized vessels were approaching his ship, along with several fishing boats. He doesn't understand what that means, this part of the port is private, and only special vessels are allowed, he then looks at the station where the people in charge are who should signal them to move away. But he doesn't see any sign of it. Before he can do anything, something hits his neck and he gets dizzy, falling right there, his other partner on the opposite mast has already been knocked out too. Jack was satisfied after finishing his mission, he then signaled a small light very quickly in the direction of the small vessels.
Taking Jack's signal, thirty men of Captain Shang's invade the ship through the entrance that only has 1 guard left. While 10 more men climb the sides of the Golden Dragon using the two medium vessels. Soon everyone on deck is unconscious.

Meanwhile, in a populated area of the port, not far from the special vessels dock, someone shouts THIEF and points at a man. The two guards who are patrolling the area give chase, following the alleged thief into an abandoned building and when they enter the basement of the building, the door behind them closes and the man quickly escapes through another hidden place.
On the opposite side of the port, two guards are lying on the ground, blind. They chased a suspect accused of being a pervert, only to be attacked by two suspects who threw a strange liquid in their faces, temporarily blinding them and fleeing after leaving them there on the ground. No matter how much help they asked for, the people in the place completely ignored them.

It's already 6:13 PM, Omar and I are together with Shang and some men, still going down and checking all the cabins of the Golden Dragon looking for any remaining men. Most of them are easily subdued before being carried up to the deck. After being tied up, they are placed on one of the medium-sized fishing vessels.
Not long after, we realize that whoever went down first to the cargo area has not yet returned from there. Thinking that something went wrong, I, Omar, Shang and his men cautiously and silently go down and when we arrive at the cargo area, we finally find the last 4 crew members of the Golden Dragon. Two of them are already knocked out and tied up on the floor ready to be taken up there, but next to these two men are the seven bodies of Shang's pirates completely dismembered.
Our hearts freeze at the scene of 7 companions killed in such a horrible way. We shudder to see the perpetrators of such carnage, they are standing in the middle of the 7 bodies as they watch us and begin to prepare to fight again. They are two tall men wearing heavy, shiny armor with long swords that are still dripping with blood… Only one name comes to mind for Rafael and the others:
Valyrian knights!
