Chapter 21: We Are All Family
On the ancient scroll of the Divine Pill Scripture, Mo Yang had long committed all the recorded pill recipes to memory. With just a glance, he immediately recognized that the recipe in front of him was indeed for the Yangchun Pill.
The Yangchun Pill had a singular and very specific purpose. Within the Divine Pill Scripture, it was also referred to as the Rising Yang Pill. Simply put, it was a pill designed specifically for men who... weren't functioning well in certain aspects.
Mo Yang's expression turned peculiar as he raised his head to glance at the Second Elder. The moment their eyes met, the Second Elder's face stiffened, and he anxiously asked, "Can this pill recipe be used to refine pills?"
Su Fei'er and the Great Elder were also staring at Mo Yang with anticipation, waiting for his response.
Mo Yang finally spoke, his voice tinged with amusement: "It can indeed be refined. But Second Elder, you've treasured this pill recipe for over a decade—don't tell me you had no idea what kind of pill it was for?"
The Second Elder looked confused and shook his head. He had no experience in the art of alchemy. While he could recognize the individual ingredients listed on the recipe, he had no way of deducing the purpose of the pill itself.
Mo Yang stifled a laugh and coughed lightly. "This is the Yangchun Pill, also known as the Rising Yang Pill."
The Second Elder exchanged a glance with the Great Elder, sensing that something was off. With furrowed brows, he asked, "Is it effective for Heaven Profound Realm cultivators?"
"Of course! Not just Heaven Profound Realm cultivators—even Grandmasters above that level, or even Battle Kings, will find it effective after taking it!"
Hearing this, both the Great Elder and Second Elder were visibly stunned. Excitement flickered in their eyes. Was the pill recipe truly this extraordinary?
Su Fei'er, however, was at a loss. She couldn't help but ask Mo Yang, "Brother Mo Yang, what exactly does the Yangchun Pill do? Is it really so amazing?"
Mo Yang coughed awkwardly, trying to keep a straight face in front of the two elders. "It... allows a man to stand tall again. What do you think? Amazing or not?"
The Great Elder and Second Elder instantly understood. When they first heard the name of the pill, they had found it somewhat strange. Now, with Mo Yang's explanation, the context was clear.
The Second Elder's face flushed red with embarrassment, but rather than feeling disheartened, a glint of excitement sparkled in his eyes.
"Is this really true?" His voice carried a trace of urgency as he inquired further.
Mo Yang glanced at the Second Elder with a knowing look, his gaze deliberately drifting downward before he replied, "It seems... Second Elder really has reached an advanced age..."
"Uh... cough, cough..." The Second Elder's face turned even redder as he awkwardly cleared his throat, inwardly cursing himself for being too hasty.
Meanwhile, Su Fei'er was still utterly clueless. She felt like they were all speaking in riddles. "Stand tall again? What does that even mean?" she thought in confusion.
"Fei'er, it's getting late. You should head back now. We have some things to discuss with Mo Yang," the Great Elder said, clearly wanting to avoid explaining further in her presence.
Su Fei'er looked at Mo Yang, then at the two elders, still feeling puzzled. She mumbled, "Fine, if you won't tell me, I'll go ask Senior Sister Xu!"
Upon hearing this, both elders' faces darkened. The Second Elder quickly closed the door after she left, ensuring they wouldn't be overheard. Once the room was secure, he turned back to Mo Yang.
"Mo Yang, what you said earlier—was it true?"
Even the Great Elder wore an expression of hope and anticipation.
Mo Yang glanced at their eager faces and suppressed his laughter. With a serious tone, he replied, "Of course it's true. But Second Elder, at your age, you should really focus on maintaining your health. Why bother with such things? Some matters are better left to nature—forcing it is unnecessary."
Before the Second Elder could respond, the Great Elder interjected, "As cultivators, we defy the heavens with our practice! How can we simply go with the flow?"
Mo Yang turned his gaze to the Great Elder, his smile carrying a hint of mischief. The Great Elder's face immediately turned awkward as he hastily changed the subject.
"Right, about the recipe I gave you—what kind of pill is it for?"
Mo Yang shook his head. "The recipe isn't right. The properties of the listed ingredients conflict with each other. Great Elder, wherever you got this from, I'm afraid you were deceived."
The Great Elder's face darkened. "Damn it! I knew it! That old fox sold it to me for twenty thousand silver taels—how could I have fallen for it?"
After cursing for a moment, he calmed himself and turned to Mo Yang. "Mo Yang, we may have wronged you in the past. That was our fault. Please don't hold it against us."
The Second Elder quickly nodded in agreement, echoing the sentiment.
Internally, Mo Yang sneered, but his outward expression remained calm. "People often say that children speak without malice, and adults should be magnanimous. Don't worry—I won't hold grudges over such trivial matters."
The Great Elder: "..."
The Second Elder: "..."
Their faces darkened instantly. They knew Mo Yang was being deliberately provocative, but for now, they could only endure the humiliation, as they still needed his help.
"Great Elder, if there's something you want to say, just say it," Mo Yang prompted.
"Well, since you've received guidance from a master and have become an alchemist, do you have any pills that can significantly aid cultivation?"
"Pills? No, but I do have recipes," Mo Yang replied. "However, I lack the necessary ingredients. I'm afraid you might be disappointed."
The Great Elder's face lit up. "That's no problem! If the pills can be refined, leave the matter of gathering ingredients to me!"
This was exactly the response Mo Yang had been waiting for. He nodded. "If you can provide the ingredients, leave the pill refining to me."
He picked up a wolf-hair brush and began writing on a sheet of paper. Within moments, he handed the list to the Great Elder.
"This is the list of ingredients for the Qiankun Pill. The Qiankun Pill has the power to reverse the heavens. With it, breaking through bottlenecks in the Heaven Profound Realm will be effortless. I already have some of the other required ingredients, so you don't need to worry about those. Just focus on gathering these."
The Great Elder eagerly took the list, but as he read through it, his expression grew increasingly grim. Sweat began to bead on his forehead.
"How are there so many ingredients for just part of the recipe? And the quantities..."
Mo Yang had intentionally listed rare but obtainable ingredients—just costly enough to make them feel the pinch.
"The Qiankun Pill is extremely difficult to refine. With my current level of alchemy, it's unlikely I'll succeed on the first attempt. That's why the quantities are slightly higher than usual. But we're all family here, so let's not quibble over details, right?"
The Great Elder wiped the cold sweat from his brow. This would cost him a fortune, but for the sake of cultivation, he gritted his teeth and nodded. "Alright, I'll gather the ingredients as quickly as possible!"
The Second Elder quickly spoke up as well. "Could I gather a share too?"
"Of course! Gathering these ingredients won't be easy, but I trust the two of you can handle it." Mo Yang's face was calm, but inwardly, he was grinning from ear to ear. This was exactly the outcome he wanted.
The Second Elder moved closer to glance at the list. His face darkened as he read the contents, and he too began to sweat profusely.
Mo Yang then held up the Yangchun Pill recipe and asked, "What about this pill? Are the two of you still interested in refining it?"
"Yes! Absolutely!" the Second Elder replied resolutely. "I'll find the ingredients myself."
The Great Elder quickly added, "Count me in as well. Should we prepare extra ingredients for multiple shares?"
Mo Yang hesitated for a moment, then sighed. "This pill is effective, but I know of an alternative recipe with even better results. It requires just one dose for full efficacy. However, it does require two additional ingredients."
The two elders exchanged glances, their eyes gleaming with determination. "No problem! If it can be refined, we'll handle the rest!"
Mo Yang nodded and picked up his brush to add the two extra ingredients to the list.
The elders, still unaware of Mo Yang's scheming, were all too eager to comply, ready to go to any length to secure their share of the miraculous pills.
