The Ace and The Four kings

Chapter 4: Chapter 3: Who Are They?

Chapter 3: Who Are They?

Ella's POV

"I'm so sorry, Monique. I thought I had already placed the sanitizer in my bag earlier—" I flinched when I suddenly felt cold liquid pour over my head.

"Shut up! No matter what you say, you're still stupid!" she shouted at me.

I lowered my head when I heard her friends and the rest of the students in the cafeteria laughing. I felt like my knees were trembling from embarrassment. I didn't know what to do anymore.

I couldn't even defend myself. My tears began to fall.

"Now, get out of my sight! You hurt my eyes!" she yelled again at my face.

I was about to leave when someone bumped into me, causing me to drop the tray full of food I was holding. It felt like everything happened in slow motion, and the food slowly landed in a bag. I stood there, frozen, watching the owner's face contort in disbelief.

No, this can't be happening. When she slowly looked at me, I almost held my breath.

"Damn you! This is the latest Chanel bag I had in the US. How dare you!?" Her scream was so loud, I thought her veins would burst.

"I-I'm really sorry, Monique. I-I didn't mean to. Someone bumped into me—"

"Be thankful. I borrowed you from Spade. You have the privilege to hang out with me, and yet this is all you do? Are you freaking stupid!?"

I closed my eyes, waiting for her hand to hit my face when I heard someone speak, making my heart race faster.

"So, this is your new den, Monique?"

I quickly opened my eyes at the sound of that voice. Although she was slightly bent over, and half of her face was covered by a black hat, I was sure.

'X-Xyrine?'

"What the hell are you talking about? And who are you to casually say my name? Don't you know who I am? I'm Monique Hernandez! The soon-to-be daughter of the owner of this university! So what rights do you have to say my name?" Monique yelled at Xyrine, but strangely, Xyrine remained unfazed.

"Soon-to-be daughter?" Xyrine smiled, "Right, so how about mine? Would you mind asking my name?" she asked, still bent over, firmly holding Monique's arm.

"What the hell? Why would I ask your freaking name? Let's see how confident you are." Monique quickly snatched off Xyrine's cap to see her face, but then she froze.

For a few seconds, she was in shock before she turned pale. "I-It's you?" she asked in disbelief. "No! It can't be..." And with that, she yanked her arm and ran out of the cafeteria.

I found myself staring blankly, hearing murmurs fill the entire room.

'Wait, what happened? Why do they seem to know each other? But why? Should I be happy with what my cousin did or should I be scared? I know Monique. Something bad is going to happen if you fight against her'.

I was still staring into space when I heard Xyrine speak.

"So, this is what you meant?"

I couldn't speak.

"Is this the reason why you've been avoiding me here, and why you didn't want me to enter Montreal?"

I lowered my head at her words. She was right. I didn't want her to know, and I was afraid she might tell Daddy what's been happening inside this university. Daddy's just an ordinary businessman. For sure, once I report it to him, he'll be dragged into this mess. Compared to the monsters running this school, we're like ants to them.

Monique's family is no joke. She is the heiress of the Montreal Group of Companies. As she claimed, she is the 'soon-to-be daughter' of the owner of this university. That's why, as much as I can, I'll endure all the hardships here until I finish and escape this hell.

"Hey!" I snapped out of my thoughts when she suddenly tapped me. "Whatever you're thinking, I'm out of that. I won't interfere. I just want to eat now because I'm starving," she said nonchalantly.

All my worries seemed to disappear after she said that. I couldn't help but smile. I didn't know who or what she was before she came to our house, but all I knew now was that I wasn't alone anymore.

"T-Thank you, Xyrine."

"Thank you for what? If you want to thank me, then buy us food."

"Us?" I looked at her, surprised.

"I have company."

'How is it that on her first day here, she already has someone with her?' I felt a bit of happiness because at least she had someone to talk to. "O-Okay, who's with you and where are they?"

When she raised her finger to point, I felt my body weaken.

Is that really who I think it is?'

It felt like my body froze in place as I saw who she was pointing to. They were facing away from us, but I recognized that back.

'LORD GOD. Please, let me be wrong. Please don't let it be Tong.'

I rubbed my eyes several times, but the truth was clearer than the sunlight when I saw the placard hanging around his neck. I collapsed to the floor in disbelief.

"Hey, What's happening to you?" he asked cluelessly.

"No, Xyrine, WHAT IS HAPPENING TO US?" I stood frozen, thinking about the consequences of what was going to happen in the next few days.

"What?"

"Do you know who that is?"

"Who? The one with me?"

"That's Tong! Spade's toy!"

"Toy? Spade? As in Play cards?" she furrowed her brows in confusion.

"No, Xyrine, this isn't real! This can't be happening. It would've been okay to mess with Monique, but with the 4 Kings, and the leader at that?" I swallowed several times. "We're going to be dead soon."

"Ha?"

"Tong, don't you understand?! He belongs to Spade! The leader of the 4 Kings and the president of class A!"

"What? Who's Spade? What are the 4 Kings? What kind of nonsense are you saying?" She sounded annoyed.

I stood up and quickly pulled her and Tong to a corner. "Listen carefully!" I demanded, but she just averted her gaze.

"Okay, listen up. This school is run by class A. They are the heirs of the biggest companies here in the country, both local and international."

"The girl earlier, she's Monique Hernandez. She is the only heir of Montreal Group of Companies. She is also the only female member of class—"

"Don't mention her name," she interrupted me.

"O-Okay, chill. It looks like you know her, but you still don't know her fully! She's the most demonic woman alive!"

"I am not interested—"

"Can you just listen first?!" I exhaled in frustration when I unintentionally raised my voice.

"I'm sorry. If you don't want to hear about Monique, fine! But you need to know who the 4 Kings are!"

"Are they that important?"

'Ugh, what is wrong with her?!'

"Okay, listen carefully. The 4 Kings are composed of four powerful men. And all of them rule Montreal University! First, there's Tennessee Stanphil. The Stanphil family is known in food, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. He's also known as Ten. He might be the biggest playboy I've ever known. No, wait! There's also Ren!"

"Okay?"

"What? Anyway, speaking of Ren, Ren Nagasa is also part of the 4 Kings. Half Japanese and half womanizer, arggg! The Nagasa family is well-known in news and media, music and entertainment, and the energy industry. I think he's slept with all their models. He's a certified manwhore! And not only that, there are rumors he's part of the mafia or even a mafia leader."

"Oh, mafia..." She sounded unimpressed.

"I'm not sure, it's just a rumor. Moving on, next in line is Louren Choi. He's pure Korean, but he's multilingual, a mad genius. The Choi family is known for their hospitals and electronics industry."

"I don't know much about him. But I've heard he's a secret agent in a private agency based in the US."

"Secret agent?" she repeated, now showing much interest.

"It's just a rumor. Not confirmed." I grimaced. 'Wait, why is she cutting me off?!'

"And the last one, the most feared of them all. The leader of the 4 Kings. The British-Chinese- Spade Inigo Sy. The Sy family is known for their businesses in aviation, telecommunications, education, logistics, and the legal industry. Just a reminder, if you want to survive in this university, stay away from him! Don't ever show yourself to him!"

I rubbed my forehead as she yawned again. Argh!

"The families of the 4 Kings are the largest stockholders in Montreal University. So, whatever they want, they get. They even toy with people like you! Understand?"

"Are you done?"

"Arg! Seriously?! After everything I just told you, that's all you have to say?" I asked in disbelief. She had no idea what I've been through. I don't know what's going to happen to her tomorrow. Because most likely, Spade already knows what happened today.

Wait! I need to breathe first. I took a deep breath and calmed myself down.

"Xyrine, you're dealing with the 4 Kings, and they are extremely powerful! Don't interfere with them! Do you understand?!" I asked, stressed.

"I don't care, and I don't want to understand. Besides, I haven't interfered with anything that belongs to them. And if that happens, I'm telling you," she looked at me seriously, and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

"I only need five seconds."

'What does she mean bt that?'

I got chills as I stared into her eyes. "Who are you really?" I asked, almost unconsciously.

"If their names are called like playing cards, then I am the ACE." Her answer was simple, but I couldn't understand it.

"Alright, The Ace and the Four Kings, hehe."

I looked at Tong. "You too! What do you think, are we in a Webnovel?" I teased, playfully choking him.

But one thing I knew for sure now.

Tomorrow.

We are DEAD.
