Chapter 50: The Winged-Humans (11) (Rumbling Dragons 2)
The Mountain Dragon Lord enraged by the sneak attack quickly turned his focus, aiming his breath attack in the direction of the Brightness Dragon Lord. The two plumes collided with a ferocity only known to dragon's breath, where they fought a desperate battle for dominance over the other. The two plumes of dragon's breath, one of a nearly etheric brilliance the other filled with the essence of the earth. However, while there was clearly a fight between them, one was clearly stronger while the other, weaker…
"AHAHA! You may be Dragon Lord now, but you're still just a runt compared to me! No wonder my brother killed so many of you." The Mountain Dragon Lord laughed through his attack.
"I shouldn't have bothered to come and talk to you. I still held hope that you still had sense in you.I see now that my brothers and sisters were right, You're just as insufferable as father was!" The Brightness Dragon Lord roared through his own breath attack. I said all that but I really don't know how much longer I can keep this up. He stumbled slightly, catching himself just in time.
"Kekeke! What's wrong whelp? Are you sure you aren't just a winged snake?" The Mountain Dragon Lord taunted and teased after seeing his nephew struggle so easily. "Once I'm through with you here, I'll go and kill the others. Punishment for their actions against their father." He claimed with an abundance of ego. And then…
Night Silver appeared right next to the Mountain Dragon Lord's neck. Stroking her hand along it all the while activating her heavily enhanced poison touch spell. A druid's poisonous touch, when boosted normally they would be able to inflict minor poison damage over time to a target. However, with Night Silver's abilities, it is far more effective. Greatly poisoning the Mountain Dragon Lord.
The Mountain Dragon Lord panicked and took to the air, in an effort to avoid the constant stream of poison damage and the plume that would soon hit him. All because the poison weakened his breath attack considerably. "Curse you all!" He roared ferociously. His roar seemed to call for nearby monsters and other creatures to his side. "I have an army… WHAT!" He screamed with his eyes bulging at what he saw.
"You really are an idiot. You won't make this mountain alive. In fact you should consider yourself lucky to remain in one piece." Night Silver scolded with a not so veiled threat. "Calling for nature's creatures to help you, in a fight against the one titled Nature's Mother is truly a stupid thing to do. It's like sending children to kill their own mother." She continued, scolding the idiot dragon while the creatures fled, all of the creatures apologizing in various dialects of Nature's Language.
"At least I'm not the one who killed his own father! I'd never stoop that low!" The Mountain Dragon Lord roared, fuming with anger. That poison is almost cleared out. If I wasn't earth attributed I would have died just then. This woman is clearly a significantly more dangerous threat to my life than that whelp.
"No, of course you wouldn't stoop that low." Night Silver said, shrugging as she began to ignore the dragon still hovering the sky. "Here you go, Brightness. Eat these to fill your stomach. Your brother Platinum gave them his seal of approval too. We'll get you something tastier next time." She said tossing 5 berries into Brightness Dragon Lord's mouth.
"Tastier than these? Uhm, these are delicious and…" Brightness Dragon Lord said after he crushed the berries between his tongue and palate, the roof of the mouth. "Wait… That was just 5 tiny berries, and yet I'm full? That is one extremely convenient use of magic." He added with a bit of shock.
"Yeah, the others reacted the same way. I use these as immediate rations for those who really need the help immediately." Night Silver explained with a giggle. "Now for the healing you need. I won't be able to recover your magic power, but your wounds will be gone shortly. Arch Heal!" She continued, causing a mana driven aura radiating from all of the Brightness Dragon Lord's wounds.
"I… This is… I can see why you didn't use this right after the battle. Such a powerful healing spell really can put someone of my strength back in the fight." The Brightness Dragon Lord said as he inspected his wounds, finding that they all disappeared.
"The spell is powerful, but not omnipotent. It can't heal someone when they die in one hit. Besides, it also interrupts any other spells I'm actively casting. Which would have led to a far more devastating result at that time." Night Silver explained, with a tinge of regret as she looked down at her hands. The memory of that battle… It was definitely the only way to go about it, right? Could I have done more? Would more Dragon Lords be alive today? Would they have been allies or foes?
"Don't worry about those questions, Sil… We went into that fight not expecting to win. It was only made possible because you were there." The Brightness Dragon Lord consoled, realizing the fluctuation in Night Silver's Aura. Shit, was a nickname too soon?
Night Silver looked at the Brightness Dragon Lord, and smiled. "Then let's go and kill this bastard. I'll show you that spell like I promised. But first, I'll give you a few buffs to make it a more even fight while my spell charges up." She said, and silently cast several different buffing spells upon her new close friend. "It's not as many buffs as one of my old friends could have given you, but it should be enough to tip the balance to a more neutral level." She explained.
The Brightness Dragon Lord was overwhelmed by his new strength. "I feel… So much stronger…" He said, then grew silent as he stared at his uncle, The Mountain Dragon Lord, menacingly. "Can you have the spell prepared, but not use it. I'd like to see if I can beat my Uncle like this." He asked, in a shy, yet prideful voice.
"Pride?" Night Silver asked, receiving a small nod in return. "Very well. I'll have a back up plan ready, but I will trust to see how far your pride takes you, my radiant friend." She continued, and began preparing her back up plan.
