Chapter 14
Chapter 14
Ning Xiangxiang didn’t care how Fang Ru was feeling defeated; he only knew that his limelight had been completely stolen by Ningning. As an unwanted orphan, what capital did he have to compete for the limelight?
When Fang Ru saw that Ning Xiangxiang was serious about leaving, she became a little flustered. She quickly tried to persuade him, saying, “Don’t leave yet, we haven’t bought anything in the county town yet. Let’s go look at other clothes, and then I’ll take you to eat. We’ll eat whatever they’re eating.”
“If you want to eat, go eat by yourself. Do you really think I don’t know what you’re thinking? Let’s just end it here.” Ning Xiangxiang stopped smiling and continued in a cold tone, “We’re birds of a feather, let’s not talk about each other. After all, we both have ulterior motives.”
Fang Ru watched as Ning Xiangxiang, who used to be gentle and submissive, turned into a cold and revengeful prince. She felt a bit embarrassed but liked this side of Ning Xiangxiang even more; she became more intriguing.
Ning Xiangxiang was unaware of how unlikable he looked when he pretended. Now that he reverted to his cold and sarcastic self, he strangely attracted this troublemaker girl even more.
The more Fang Ru looked at Ning Xiangxiang, the more she liked him, so she couldn’t let him go. “Let’s eat first, and then you can go. After dinner, I won’t bother you anymore.”
Ning Xiangxiang sneered, “Do you think I’m stupid or a fool? These little tricks won’t work on me. It’s not working anymore. I used to be a little interested, but now I’m done serving you.”
Ning Xiangxiang left, looking like he had just broken up with an unfaithful lover. He couldn’t wait to find out where Su Fei’s money came from. Could it be that Su Fei was actually a hidden rich girl? Based on his understanding of Ningning, he wouldn’t spend so much money on such expensive clothes with his own money.
Fang Ru covered her pounding heart, feeling like love had smashed her head. As she watched Ning Xiangxiang’s figure disappearing into the distance, she felt a surge of affection. He was her true love, and for the first time, she felt the desire to marry him. Then she went home in a daze.
Ningning felt Ning Xiangxiang’s curse and kept sneezing non-stop. He sneezed several times in a row before his nose finally cleared.
Su Fei, acting like a fool, actually counted the number of times Ningning sneezed, and said excitedly, “You sneezed six times in a row, you’re a true six-er.”
Ningning rubbed his nose, not caring what Su Fei was doing. She knew that besides her appearance, she was actually just a clown.
Pointing to the guesthouse ahead, Ningning said, “Let’s go, the restaurant is ahead. The food there is delicious, all made by the chefs. By the way, how much money do you have left?” Ningning asked casually as they entered and took their seats.
Su Fei didn’t know how much money she had left either. She took out all her pocket money and counted, “Seven yuan and four cents, this is all I have. Let’s see what we can eat with seven bucks!”
The waiter, seeing a customer count money before eating for the first time, but seeing her holding only seven yuan, knew that she had had enough of everything here. So, the service was still relatively good.
Ningning thought that Su Fei really didn’t have much money left, so he wasn’t worried about these few bucks. Su Fei took money seriously, but she hadn’t changed her mindset yet. She used to think that spending a few thousand or a few hundred yuan for a meal was normal.
Su Fei whispered to Ningning, “Is our money enough? I hope we’re not dining and dashing.”
The waiter smiled and said, “Today, there are only a few dishes available, and your money is enough for less than half of them.”
Su Fei thought it was really cheap, and it would be foolish not to take advantage of it. Without waiting for Ningning’s response, she started ordering dishes herself. “Then bring all your signature dishes, and for the main course, we want steamed buns made with white flour.”
“Sure, coming right up. Braised pork, assorted meatballs, stir-fried cabbage with green beans, and a bowl of egg drop soup.” The waiter walked away to place the order.
Su Fei hoped that they would serve less food this time. The waiter soon brought out several large bowls of dishes. Among these four dishes, except for a little less meat, the stir-fried cabbage and green beans were plentiful.
“Um… can we take the leftovers home? It’s a pity to waste them.” Su Fei said softly, scared that eating all this would be fatal.
“We didn’t bring any containers. If you want to take them home, you’ll have to buy some. Let’s eat first. Eat as much as you can, and if there’s any left, we’ll figure it out later.” Ningning instructed. This time, he could eat to his heart’s content. He had always been cautious when eating at home, fearing that there wouldn’t be enough food.
While others dined with joy and contentment because eating in a restaurant meant they were well-off, Ningning and Su Fei ate with a sense of duty. The two ate until they were full and satisfied.
After eating and drinking their fill, they had almost finished their New Year shopping. Now they just had to wait at home and enjoy the New Year. Su Fei would continue writing articles at home.
Meanwhile, Ning Xiangxiang kept watching them in the cold weather, determined to find out where the money came from!
