Chapter 06 – Our Gift 02
"Are you talking about a gift or something?" Ruby asked the question to me.
"Yeah, I don’t think we need anything expensive or anything."
"Eh~~ Is that so? I mean, it’s only an extravagant gift that deserves to be given to our Ai, right?" Ruby told another fanatical line at me again.
"Of course not. How do you think we can get those things?" I shook my head, rejecting Ruby's suggestion.
"That’s true… So you're saying we can only give her gifts that a child would normally give? Like a drawing, a charm, or maybe origami…"
"Yes. That is fine," I replied and nodded contentedly. "After all, we need to act like children too. Or it would be weird." I continued my sentence.
Although it all depends on the personalities of each parent, I believe almost all parents appreciate getting gifts from their children. Then I'm pretty confident that Ai is a simple parent. Because as far as I know, Ai is not a person who knows love, and I doubt she even knows anything about family ties.
In the manga, she is still learning to love things, especially her two children.
"Doesn't this sound like a family drama?" I couldn’t help murmuring those words aloud.
"When you say it like that… it felt less authentic…" Ruby responded while sighing.
"In the end, we need Miyako's help…"
The two of them looked at Miyako, who had a face that said, 'How can I be in this mess?'
"Is there anything you two want? I hope you’re not asking me to buy something expensive…" Miyako said skeptically.
"Come on, Miyako. We wouldn’t do that…" Ruby looked at Miyako as she came closer.
"Yes, first of all, we are begging you that the two of us would like to go and watch Ai's performance live." I begged her as I came at her too.
"That's quite difficult… or I can say I’m the one who will be in trouble if we get caught by my husband." Miyako answered.
"Eh, even though.. I told you about those internet coins?" I tilted my head, trying to act a bit cuter.
"Ugh… That's coin—huh… It may be increasing like you say… But if it’s true, it would increase like you are saying. I put all my savings in there… Can I sell it now? It's already fifteen times the price I first bought it for." Miyaki responded with pleading eyes of her own.
"Of course, you brought it when it was still worth below $1 and now it's worth $15. I think you can sell it now since this may be the highest price this year. And buy it again when it is down around $3 at the end of this year." I gave Miyako a green light to sell it. I may not know every day of coin values, but I remember when the highest and lowest price spikes of this coin were.
"Is that about that coin called betcoin like that?" Ruby entered our conversation, wondering what I’m talking about with Miyako.
"Yeah, it's about that."
In the end, the manga will be published around 2020, and it looks like we were born in different years. We weren't born in 2020, but in late 2010, and now we’re in mid-2011.
As their worlds were nearly familiar with each other, that’s why I don’t really understand those crypto things, At least Betcoin is famous to rise every year and peak in price around $6,000 in 2021.
"I wonder how you know that stuff…" Ruby couldn’t believe how I could know something like this.
"It's fine. This will make Miyako more convinced about us being messengers of the god."
"That’s true." She looked at me, crossed her arms, and continued pondering about something.
Yeah, at that time, I told Miyako about Betcoin and told her to invest half of her savings to buy it. It had a familiar symbol and name, but I’m still unsure if the coin would be the same or not. But I’m pretty sure this would be particularly the same.
"This… really unbelievable…" Miyako murmurs to herself as she thinks about selling the coin.
"Don’t forget to buy this again when the price is around $3. Buy it little by little before selling it two years later. Just think of this as an investment, and don’t forget to just sell half of your coin or at least keep one-third as savings." I put my hand on her feet. Miyako looked down at me and put her hand around me, before she lifted me up.
"Never in my dream. I will listen to this kind of investment from the baby. It made me wonder if you know a lottery number…" Miyako asked me something so stupid that I didn’t hesitate to slap her face just a bit.
"Are you stupid!? Didn’t I say there is a chance I will lose my power if you use money for something bad and don’t help something benefit Ai?" I reprimanded Miyako for not being brash about this.
"Yes… I will be more careful." Miyako surprisingly responded with such a meek tone.
"Anyway, we want to watch the show live… Ah, we want some drawing tools too."
"Ugh… Fine. But promise me to stay put, okay…" Miyako finally gave in to our request. "First, drawing tools. Huh… Do you two want to draw something?" Miyako put me down near Ruby.
"Why draw tools?" Ruby asked me.
"I think a simple drawing of her shining on the stage from us would make her happy." I answered nonchalantly while Ruby nodded at my answer.
"Yeah… I think that’s a good idea. How about we draw something like this…" Ruby decided to take my advice to heart and put it into practice immediately after Miyako gave them drawing tools.
We didn’t need to draw anything amazing, just something that would make her happy. Ah, also don’t forget to tell Miyako to document what we both do with a video camera and photos for our mother to see. Ah, also, I think it will be good to give our mother a surprise too.
Ai had been busy with her lessons, training, and rehearsals before the concert. But, after we finished our simple drawing, we waited for her to come home. It was rather late when she came home.
"Ruby~~ Aqua~~. Mother is home…" Ai called us as she entered the apartment. She walked into the living room to see the three of us waiting for her patiently.
"Oh, it seems you guys are still awake." Ai added her words.
"Ah, yes. There's something they want to give their mothers." Miyako told Ai. Ai herself came close to us and said in wonder.
"Really, I wonder what it is?"
"This…for…mother…" I am deliberately stammering those words, while reaching out my hand and giving her the picture we drew.
"This…" Ai was surprised by the suddenness of it all. She looked at our childish drawing of her standing on the podium, singing brightly.
To be honest, at that moment, I wondered what kind of expression she had. It felt like she was unsure what reaction to this, and her eyes widened seeing the picture
"Mama… this.." Ruby put a flower crown she made on top of Ai’s head. "Mama… so shining… we love it…" Ruby continued her words, trying to ease Ai’s worry but still talking like a baby.
"Ahahaha, this is… really pretty." Ai looked at Ruby and finally gave us a smile. Even though it feels a bit awkward.
"They’re pretty worried about you and say you've been a bit gloomy in the past few days. So they are thinking of giving us those to make you happier." Miyako told Ai the truth.
"Eh… Really!? Do I look like that…" Ai was shocked by those revelations.
"Well, it looks like your children can see that way." Miyako's words once again surprised Ai, who looked at the two of us. But this time, I could see a warm smile and an expression on her face. She put her arm around our bodies and hugged the two of us.
"Ruby… Aqua… Thanks." Ai happily thanked the both of us. But her voice was so quiet, as if there were a lot of emotions in it.
After that day, I feel like Ai’s became brighter and, to be honest, worked harder than before. It feels a bit worrying, but I can’t say anything when she has that determined face.
With that, concert day arrives.
