Chapter 13: Level Up
[Commander's Level has been increased to 3.]
The time had finally come, my last system increase happened almost a month ago, and while I'm not exactly complaining when it comes to what my system can do, when you're limited to an infantry only operation things go a lot slower than you'd hope they would.
As soon as I heard the alert I shot straight out of bed and opened the interface to see what had been unlocked.
First up was a War Factory, I paid to skip the development time and immediately deployed it.
A new table for vehicle production appeared on my interface.
Great!
We can now produce Allied Light, tanks Medium tanks, APC's, and Ranger Jeeps along with Soviet Heavy Tanks and mine layers.
Aside from Mammoth tanks, Tesla's and Artilery in the form of V2 rocket launchers, Allied Artilery, and M.A.D tanks, along with Demo Trucks, but compared to when we were running on repossessed vehicles and the gas fumes within these unlocks are more than better for us.
Vehicles weren't the only thing I had unlocked as I could also now create the tech centre along with a service depot to repair vehicles similar to how the medics heal infantry, From that Tesla coils and S.A.M sites could also be produced.
Our defenses could be increased further with Allied Defense Turrets, and AA Guns, and our deployable units had also increased with the ability to now deploy spy's and mechanics.
Thanks to having saved up credits over the last couple weeks I was well prepared for when the War Factory was unlocked and built.
So once it's form came to be inside the inner section of the base, I quickly got to work setting up a queue of Ranger Jeeps and a mixed selection of the three available tanks.
The Rangers thankfully did not take to long to create and with them our range of operations had greatly increased.
While the three tank corps would increase our overall lethality each came with different strengths and weaknesses, for example the light tank only had a 75mm cannon along with a Heavy Machine gun, while also being lightly armoured thanks to this it's overall speed only fell a little behind the top speed of the Ranger jeeps.
The medium tanks were considerably slower but had greater defenses as a result and also possessed a 90mm cannon with 2 Heavy Machine guns as weapons, and then lastly the Soviet Heavy Tank, which was the slowest moving of the three but also boasted the greatest defense and offensive capabilities thanks to its heavy armour, and twin 105mm Cannons and three Heavy Machine guns, as a weapon of war it only fell behind it's own advanced unit the Soviet Mammoth Tank the precursor to the dreaded Apocalypse tank from the second game.
Without knowing the overall strength of the other forces in this world simply having the added security of the tank corp would surely help them to resist.
With the upgrade of RA units by introducing the Rangers while the tanks were still being produced they once more set out but this time they operations were more to unveil more of the map rather than just dealing with hunting Mutant beasts.
Thanks to having just leveled up his commander level Jake knew that with each level up his own overall map increased in size, without having a way of telling how big it was he'd go so far as to guess that his current map was at least 200km2 since any more than that and he should be able to see Outpost #7 which still lay outside of his range.
Oddly though this map did not move with him, it remained centred around the base.
Well not that it matters all to much the map's primary purpose is to watch for hostiles against the base where the Radar Dome itself is based after all, thanks to the system I did find out that unlike in the game I was only limited to building anything within the range of the map I could see and so long as the selected area was revealed and not under Fog of War basically so long as I had a unit there.
And as my Command level increase so did my range upon which I could build, same would be said for if I created a sub-base with a second MCV i'd have the same range around that base to be able to build as well.
Though mapping concerns would be a thing of the past once I could unlock building the GPS or Spy satellites.
Since the creation of either of those reveals the entire map, but since this is not a flat map it probably would take three strategically place to reveal the entire world map unless the unit is truly broken as a cheat.
Next up came the greatest surprise from the system, since I had become a Level 3 Commander I unlocked another new perk.
At Lvl 1 I possessed the strength of my most cultivated unit, yeah no doesn't mean I had the power of a tank now that I could deploy them, for now I was just Tier 3 like Alpha was, Lvl 2 let me see through the eyes of any of my deployed units be they soldiers or unmanned tanks.
Now with the 3rd perk I had unlocked a Gacha system, or perhaps it should be a lottery system...?
Either way what that meant was once per day I could make a draw for a random RA unit, and according to the system I could unlock anything within the RA system that meant I might be able to get the supersoldier units from RA2 and RA3.
Hell even if it's not a Super unit even a late state tank or aircraft would be amazing as well.
Without hesitation I performed my first pull!
...
...
Shouldve expected that honestly, what appeared before me from the letter with a hearty salute was a Conscript.
The base infantry unit of the Soviet from the 2nd game.
I mean he's certainly stronger than the Riflemen I have now since he's got an automatic Machine gun in the form of an AK-47 but even still compared to everything else I could've pulled from this feels like a let down, but if it operates like most gacha's the odds of pulling a Super or Ultimate rare are next to impossible while base units would be more like commons.
Oh well I get to draw once per day so hopefully that means I can eventually draw something worthwhile that can serve as our next trump card.
For now we should just worry about expanding our current operations and searching for these Core's mentioned by the systems to create another MCV, while at the same time beginning to expand our sphere of influence to gain even more knowledge about this world and our power in comparison to it.
our current strength is 3rd tier, but what's the highest tier, and does being top tier really mean that you are effectively a god?
Even with the RA system I don't think I could ever go up against a god.
