Chapter 31 - The Special Task Force 7th Division (4)
Chapter 31
The Special Task Force 7th Division (4)
Special missions and solo missions.
For those two, we need to capture them alive. If one of them dies, the mission is not complete.
*Thud!*
He stomped on the ground and leapt forward.
Drawing the sword from his belt, he swung it toward Harde. The swing sent Harde stumbling back a step.
In the meantime, Rebecca moved.
He quickly pulled out his handcuffs and tried to subdue the driver, but Harde, who was watching, craned his neck from side to side and laughed.
“Did you even drag the rat into this?”
“Harde, you are under arrest for escaping.”
“I take it you know who I am.”
Harde.
His primary weapon is a twin sword. His skill level is about the same as mine, but he’s probably got a lot more experience.
The number of people killed by that sword must be in the thousands.
The thing to watch out for is the continuous attacks that come in quickly and without a break. And the special power that Harde has.
He have to watch out for that.
Thwack!
Harde drew two swords and held them in both hands. His arms were outstretched. There were openings all over his body.
Redin guesses that means Harde’s confident.
He gripped the hilt of his sword tightly and took a stance. There was no need to be afraid. Despite his lack of experience when fighting Dharman, a member of the Magnes organization.
Right now, Redin feels pretty good about himself.
*Pow!*
Kicking the ground, Redin moved quickly.
With a light swing of his sword, he assessed his opponent.
*Clang!*
*Bang!*
Harde quickly returned the favor.
In the process of exchanging swords, he showed a gap, but Harde did not come in.
*Bang!*
*Clang!*
He took a quick breath and used a slash. His body leaped in a single bound, mana shooting out of his sword.
*kagagagang!*¹
The twin swords crossed and he blocked the blade. He pushed back, If this continues, his sword will break.
Hmph!
Redin tried to pull his sword back, but it wouldn’t budge. Releasing the hilt, he pivoted and planted his feet.
*Boom!*
*Pow!*
A kick exploding in the air.
At the same time, he caught the falling sword.
He moved out of range.
Redin couldn’t hear the sounds around him. His eyes locked with Harde’s. The atmosphere was tense.
From movement to breathing.
Redin took it all in and used it as information.
“Tricky little bastard.”
Redin thought the same thing, but didn’t answer. Then Harde changed his stance. He laid his two swords horizontally, side by side.
At that moment.
Green smoke flowed from Harde’s body and enveloped the sword. A special power he possesses. It is a poisonous attack.
A special power to create poison.
Harde’s poisonous aura enveloped the two swords.
“If you touch this, you die, so try to avoid it.”
Is this the beginning?
Harde’s demeanor had changed: sharpened eyes, twisted mouth, and a hound-like ferocity. His goal was obvious: to tear him apart.
*Boom!*
Harde’s appearance disappeared.
The world turned red. Heightening his senses, he focused on Arrakis’s eyes.
The two solid lines from the left.
Just as he raised his mana-charged sword to block the attack, the solid line on his left disappeared.
*Swoosh!*
A solid line at the end of the right field of view.
He saw me react, and he changed the sword path. That’s a lot of reaction time. He quickly reversed his blade.
*BANG!*
The sword was loaded with heavy power.
He shifted his feet, releasing the power in his sword. He twisted the sword and swung it wildly, facing forward.
Gust Slash.
A huge gust of wind rose up and swept across the front, followed by a heavy energy that swept through the air.
There was a terrible smell.
The smell of the poison it brews. The moment he inhaled it. Redin’s throat clenched, and a searing pain flooded through him.
“I told you, if you touch it, you die.”
The corners of his mouth lifted at the conviction in Harde’s voice.
[Fire of Purification (S)]
The special power of the phoenix ate away at the poisons coursing through his body. The pain was gone, replaced by a dull ache.
Although it’s a bit slower to react.
As long as he could endure the pain for a while, he didn’t seem to have much trouble dealing with Harde.
“Whoa… that’s it? I’m disappointed.” mocked Redin.
“Is it an artifact that you need to detoxify, and if so, I’ll just make the artifact obsolete.”
Again, Harde made his move.
This time, it came at Redin head-on and fast. The swords in each hand stretched out like wings, then swooped down.
*Clang!*
*Bang!*
*CLANG!*
The blade flew through the air, slow as a scythe and suddenly accelerated. Velocity beyond sight. Redin surrendered to his senses.
*Swoosh!*
His arm was slashed.
*Swoosh!*
A slash at his waist.
*Swoosh!*
His leg has been cut.
The spot where Harde’s sword had cut stung, but the pain was quickly dulled by the power of purification.
Redin gritted his teeth and held on.
Redin picked up his pace and faced Harde’s sword. His body began to adjust. Redin could now see Harde swinging his sword.
Rebecca and Harde.
Both were swordsmen with a fast-paced offensive style, and with that experience, Redin quickly gained experience and understanding of barrages.
[Sword Saint’s Enlightenment Gain 19%].
*BANG!*
He deflected Harde’s sword, spreading mana throughout his body. It strengthened his physical body and boosted his speed.
Harungel’s third move, which he could not use due to his lack of understanding of combos.
Storm Slashing.
“Heup!”
For a moment, everything slowed down.
Harde moving as if in slow motion.
Redin stretched out his foot toward him.
His body moved with a light bounce, and he swung his sword, now lighter than a feather, quickly. The mana-filled blade split into dozens of slashes.
When all the sword paths have been finished.
The world that had slowed down has returned to its original state.
And then a storm raged.
*rumble, wooooosh, craaaasssh, BOOM!*
Harde’s sword shatters.
*Craaacck!*
Blood gushed from Harde’s limbs.
“Kergh!”
Harde’s pupils dilated as he realized what had happened to him, and he sank to the floor in a heap.
[Sword Saint’s Enlightenment Gain 20%].

* * *
Harris looked at the situation calmly.
Redin had subdued Harde.
Rebecca overpowered the knight.
Neither of them made any mistakes in the process. Despite the change in plan, they didn’t panic.
He doesn’t look like a newbie at all.
‘Where the hell did they get these monsters from?’
In particular, Redin’s sword skills when he overpowered Harde were so fast that Harris couldn’t see them.
And in the blink of an eye.
Even Harde, who had been attacked by Redin, didn’t realize the cause of his defeat. He could tell by the wide-open eyes.
‘Are you getting stronger in the field?’
Harris’s eyes locked on Redin.
They didn’t stop.
After completely subduing Harde and the knight, he charged at Lanto, who was slaughtering the rest of the knights. Just as they did with Harris, the pair showed fantastic chemistry to take out Lanto.
‘Does this make any sense?’
The information that Harris had.
There was no such situation in the training manual for new recruits created for the arrest officers over many years and through many experiences.
“Rebecca, I want you to take on the Viscount’s daughter and find out what happened. I will check with the knight to learn more.”
Redin gave Rebecca his instructions.
It was a sight to behold. Even if they succeeded in taking them down, they usually didn’t know what to do next.
But Redin was different.
He knew what to do. He performed his duties skillfully, as if he’d been doing this for years.
‘I’m a bastard!’
It was like looking at Daylon.
Knowing what to do from the start and being able to think on his feet no matter the situation.
Maybe that’s why.
Rebecca, who had qualities as outstanding as Redin, was being dragged around.
-Daylon, you freak, I’m not going with you.
-Ah, come on. Come with me.
-Get lost!
Harris remembered Riena being jealous of Daylon’s overwhelming ability to accomplish his mission came to mind.
‘Sooner or later… they’ll have to move separately.’
Redin could actually go on a solo mission. Besides, it would be better for Rebecca if they moved separately.
Harris took a step forward.
As he entered the cleared area, he was approached by Redin and Rebecca. Redin straightened his posture and began his mission briefing.
“We have obtained evidence and video footage of Baron Miracul attempting to kill the daughter of Viscount Volta and attempted to place the blame on Magnes for the crime.”
“For what purpose?”
“We believe he was trying to get Magnes and Viscount Volta to fight.”
“And what does that get Baron Miracul?”
“He can get rid of the weaknesses that Magnes has, and earn the seat of Viscount Volta.”
The ability to see through to the core in a small amount of information.
Harris nodded slightly, silently acknowledging Redin. As Riena had said, this one was different.
‘It won’t take even a week, let alone two months.’
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Harris looked at Redin standing in front of him and opened his mouth to speak.
“I want you to finish this thing all the way through.”
“The site is…….”
“I’ll finish it up, go ahead.”
* * *
Baron Miracul stroked his beard and looked out the window at the carriage.
*Dagadak!*
*Dagadak!*
The approaching carriage bore the sigil of House Volta. The carriage stopped and a sharp-looking man stepped out.
Viscount Volta.
A pure-blooded noble whose ancestors have been nobles for generations, ruling a viscounty that includes four baronies.
Even his gait was unusual.
Despite knowing his daughter was gone, there was a nobility to his steps. The corner of Baron Miracul’s mouth lifted as he watched Viscount Volta slowly enter the castle.
“What happened to Magnes?”
The knight behind him answered the Baron’s question.
“They’re probably on a mission.”
“We can’t afford any disruptions.”
“I’ve made all the arrangements, so you should hear from them any minute.”
He nodded his head.
“That’s right.”
Magnes’s meddling had gotten worse lately, clutching and waving at his weaknesses as if they were nobility.
He couldn’t take it anymore.
So he devised a plan to escape their clutches. The perfect plan to get rid of the pesky beings in one fell swoop.
‘This is my chance to become a viscount.’
*knock, knock*
“Viscount Volta has arrived.”
Baron Miracul turned at the maid’s words from beyond the door. As he approached the door, the knight opened it.
Baron Miracul took a step forward.
He arrived at the guest room. Inside was Viscount Volta, sitting cross-legged, his murderous gaze fixed on Baron Miracul.
“You’re still rude.”
Originally, Baron Miracul should have welcomed Viscount Volta from the first floor.
But it’s Viscount Volta who’s missing out.
Baron Miracul laughed inwardly and bowed deeply with an outwardly apologetic expression.
“It was late as I was conducting investigations on the Viscount’s daughter. sorry.”
“Have a seat.”
With Viscount Volta’s permission, Baron Miracul sat down in the chair across from him.
The maid next to them served tea.
“This tea is meant to calm the mind and body. Take a sip and it will help you.”
Viscount Volta, who would ordinarily have called him cheap, lifted the teacup, outwardly calm but not inwardly.
*Sip.*
‘That’s it.’
Instead of calming his mind and body, that tea contains ingredients that will stimulate the mind and make him unable to think rationally.
Now we’re ready to go.
“It has been confirmed that the young lady was abducted by Magnes.”
“Magnes..”
“I think they want a gallery flower that is grown only in your territory.”
*Crack!*
Viscount Volta clenched his fists.
“Have you even found out where my daughter is?”
“I’m making quick work of it.”
“Harlen, I want you to return to the Estate now and gather all the knights. Send word to the Count as well to get backup.”
The knight behind Viscount Volta bowed his head and quickly walked out.
Baron Miracul asked cautiously.
“What are you going to do… send the knights to….”
“You touched my daughter, and I’ll make you pay for it. How dare a petty criminal touch a nobleman.”
*Kwang!*
There was a commotion outside. Baron Miracul’s brow furrowed, and the knight beside him moved.
Just in time to open the door.
The door shattered, sending the knight tumbling backwards. Beyond the shattered door stood a man with black hair and a cloak.
A man who exuded an overwhelming aura.
His gaze shifted to Baron Miracul.
The corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
“I’m Redin, a special task force 7th division member of the Burning Hell.”
A pair of manacles clinked in Redin’s hands.
“Baron Miracul, you will be arrested on the spot for attempted murder of the daughter of Viscount Volta and violation of the Magnes Special Law.”
