Survive as a Prison Guard in the Game

Chapter 159 - Burning Hell's Dungeons (4)

Chapter 159
Burning Hell’s Dungeons (4)

Running forward without paying attention to what was happening behind him, He quickly reached the underground 6th level.

“Stop right there!”

“If you get caught, you know what will happen!”

Redin entered the 6th level, leaving the screaming group behind.

The theme of the 6th underground level is ice.

Frostbone Hell

The place that can be loosely thought of as an Ice Age.

A place where everything freezes, with biting winds blowing, and the ground covered in thick layers of snow, making it difficult to walk.

Like in the Extinguishing Hell, here too one had to constantly move in order to survive.

“The third and sixth floors are mostly the same, except for the environment, huh?”

He nodded at Seria’s question.

“The reason for the third through the sixth level is not based on skill or notoriety, but on the person’s particular weakness.”

Those who thrive in the cold are sent to the Extinguishing Hell.

For those who thrive in the heat, Frostbone Hell.

They classified the prisoners based on their most vulnerable aspects.

“Then let’s pass through here quickly.”

“There’s one guy we need to watch out for in this place.”

A prisoner he’d imprisoned with his own hands.

The Necromancer.

Tervis Zerbin.

This is the place where he’s been imprisoned.

-Lucky for me. To become a Lich, I needed a strong cold, and the place I got stuck in was just like that.

A place with strong freezing temperatures is only one of the requirements to become a Lich.

Tervis was a man who had made a deal with the Demon Church.

The people who came in here would have known of Tervis’ existence, and would have brought the necessary materials to turn him into a Lich.

*Whoooosh!*

Amidst the strong icy wind, Redin sensed a strong demonic energy. His gaze instinctively shifted towards the entrance leading to the 7th underground level.

Demonic Energy was flowing out from beyond the wide-open door.

“…Seria, brace for battle.”

“Got it.”

He also gripped his sword tightly and looked around.

There were no signs of the prisoners who should have been in the Frostbone Hell.He tried to heighten his senses towards the direction of the common area, but he didn’t sense any sign of life.

That means…

They had most likely been slaughtered by Tervis. That would explain the intense demonic energy he sensed beyond the door.

*Crunch*

*Crunch*

With the sound of footsteps, the presence of several individuals was detected. Multiple figures stepped out from the door.

They were faces familiar from the game.

The kind of prisoners one can’t help but recognize, because the number of prisoners dwindles down to a mere handful once you get down to the seventh level.

“Those kids are prison guards?”

“Burning Hell is so fucked up.”

“Kelkeke. My whole body tingles at the thought of breathing in the scent of fresh blood.”

A blonde, a silver-haired, and a redhead.

Together, they were known as the Lucon Trio.

The gold-plate mercenaries of the Lucon Mercenaries.

Each of them was skilled to the point of near-mastery, but they were also vicious and bloodthirsty.

Because of this, they didn’t spare their opponents in disputes. They would torment them with various forms of torture until they grew tired of it, then killed them.

The crimes they committed were too horrific to recount.

He shifts his gaze to look at Seria.

“It’s faster to kill them than to subdue them haphazardly.”

“I’ll take care of the red-haired one on the far right.”

As soon as he nodded, Seria moved first. Following her lead, he leaped forward, darting between the blond and silver-haired individuals.

Cairo and Moonlight.

Rotating his body with two swords in hand, he aimed to strike with a Gale Slash. However, his opponent calmly blocked the attack.

“I want to play with that girl.”

As the Silver Hair parried his sword and tried to break away, he summoned his shadow alter ego to block his path.

The shadow swung its sword at the silver-haired one.

*Slash*

But the silver-haired man’s sword strike cleaved through his shadow alter ego, and it was recalled back.

“I won’t be stopped by such tricks.”

At the same time, he felt a presence behind him.

Turning his head, the blonde thrust the spear in his hand. He tilted his head back, dodging the attack.

He instantly rolled backwards, creating a shadowy alter ego behind the blonde and using the Shadow Shift to catch him off guard from behind.

He channeled mana into Moonlight in his left hand and swung it widely.

The Half Moon Wave flew through the air.

*Boom!*

The blonde formed a black aura blade at the tip of his spear and sliced the half moon wave in half. Redin admired the black aura blade on his spear.

“This is the best?”

His opponent raised a brow.

With a swift motion, the blonde-haired individual spun the spear in their hand and propelled themselves into the air, then thrust the spear downward toward the ground.

The swift thrust was infused with the power of the black aura blade.

Like a black meteor falling from the sky.

It blinded him and caused a powerful explosion at the same time.

Swinging the swords in both hands, he launched a cross-shaped Crescent Slash.

*BOOOOOM!*

Demonic Energy and Mana collided, causing a huge explosion. He took advantage of it and targeted the silver-haired man’s back.

*Clang!*

The silver-haired man who blocked the sword chuckled.

“I told you to fuck off, didn’t I?”

“Well, that’s not gonna happen.”

Using [Storm Slash]¹, driving the silver-haired man back. The two swords lashed out in rapid succession. The speed was so great that the silver-haired man’s face contorted.

The silver haired man gritted his teeth and raised his demonic energy. Feeling the rise of demonic energy in his body, Redin raised his mana to match it.

“Die, you bastard!”

The black energy overflowing from his opponent’s sword left traces as it fell above his head.

It felt as if a black giant was striking down with one arm, imposing an overwhelming presence.

The signature technique of the silver-haired individual.

To counter it, he used Lord Mode, creating a huge shadow giant. It blocked the sword swung by the Silver Haired Man.

He then used a fierce slash to decapitate him.

“Keok!”

Absorbing all the demonic energy he had, he then split the shadow giant into several alter egos of himself.

The blonde looked at it and raised an eyebrow.

“Are you going to push me with numbers?”

“Why not?”

“I’m not like that idiot.”

“That’s all he is, a fossil from the past.”

It’s been decades since they’ve been in prison. Martial arts were supposed to evolve over time.

Even with the same master’s skill level…

There was bound to be a difference.

*Heh*

Sending the shadow minions to the blond. Empowered with Lord Mode, the alter egos attacked the blonde with their blades.

*Clang*

*Tsuk!*

While Blondie was blocking their attacks with his spear in rapid succession, Redin cast a Shadow Shift.

Hiding in one of the many shadows, he fired a half-moon wave.

*Thrust!*

When the blond aimed his spear in his direction, he moved to another shadow and aimed for his back.

When he saw that Blonde’s breathing was slightly erratic.

He finished the battle by cutting the enemy’s head like he did with the silver-haired one. As the blond head rolled to the ground, Redin turned his gaze to Seria.

Over there, the battle was also reaching its conclusion.

It seemed like Seria hadn’t been idle either, fighting against a master level without being overwhelmed.

“Kuck!”

All of the shadow daggers unfurled from Seria’s hands and plunged into the red-haired man’s body.

The redhead crumpled to the ground.

After using dragon magic to protect her from the cold, which was noticeable from the way Seria was breathing heavily, he handed her the potion he had brought with him.

“Drink.”

Closing his eyes, he accessed the memories of the blonde and the silver-haired.

Their memories were identical.

The location was in the 7th underground level.

It began with the Demon cultists entering and extending their offer to the imprisoned Lucon trio.

-Swear allegiance to the Demon God.

-Can we escape from here?

-Of course.

-I swear.

The hooded cultist handed the Lucon Trio something and instructed them to swallow it.

As the Lucon Trio consumed it, the shattered mana hole began to fill with demonic energy, creating a new mana hole.

-Ohhhh. This is pretty sick.

-You have one job. If intruders happen to enter this place, stall for as much time as possible.

-I can arrange that.

Breaking the mana-controlling cuffs and throwing them to the ground, the Lucon trio freed themselves. The demon cultist handed them their weapons.

The memory ended with the Demon Cultist killing all the other prisoners and taking them somewhere.

Most likely to take them to be sacrificed to the Lich.

He’d gotten all the information he could from the blond and silver-haired one. There was nothing to be gained from communicating with the dead.

*Ooooooh!*

The intense demonic energy he felt when he encountered Sinister. Opening his eyes back up, he stared down the path to the seventh level.

A strong wave of demonic energy surged through the air.

Without a sound of footsteps, a figure appeared. A creature made of bones from head to toe, crusted with ice.

An advanced profession of the necromancer.

Frost Lich.

A white chill flowed out of Tervis as he opened his jaws.

“Long time no see?”

“Indeed.”

His expression remained neutral.

But Redin could tell Tervis was excited.

“I’ve become a Lich man because of you. Thanks.”

“That’s something we’ll have to see to the end.”

“It’s obvious even without seeing it.”

Tervis raised his hands.

The floor shook with a small rumble.

Cracks appeared everywhere, shattering the ice, and in the gaps, skeletal soldiers rose to their feet.

There seemed to be at least thirty such skeletal soldiers, each with ice wrapped around their skeletal frame, just like the Lich.

*Snap!*

When Tervis snapped his fingers, the skeletal soldiers looked up to the sky and opened their mouths.

The cold chill surrounding them flowed into the bodies of the skeletal soldiers.

In an attempt to stop it, he channeled his purifying power and sent out a half moon wave, but at the gesture of the Lich, the attack disappeared.

“You can’t stop it with that kind of power.”

The skeleton soldiers were enveloped in the cold, and a flash of blue light emanated from their eyes. In that moment, armor made of ice appeared.

The skeleton soldiers, now wearing helmets, exuded a presence that was entirely different from before.

“These are the Death Knights I acquired this time.”

Their skills before death were probably at the Expert level, but due to the power of the Lich and demonic energy, they have likely reached Master level.

His skills may have approached the Master level, but it was overwhelming to face them all with his current abilities.

“Redin…..”

“I’m also thinking of going underground to avoid them.”

The Demon Church’s plan is to use Tervis to prevent them from descending below the seventh level.

The more time Tervis can stall them, the more advantageous it becomes for their side, and once the gate to the demon realm opens and the demons join, it will be an unwinnable fight for sure.

“Get ready.”

“Uh.”

Activating the Shadow Lord mode, he gave his shadow alter egos armor and weapons.

Though outnumbered and outclassed.

They should be able to stall long enough to catch Tervis off guard.

“Go.”

The shadow alter egos leapt forward.

Engaging in a fierce sword fight, the shadow minions and the Death Knights clashed blades.

But the slaughter was one-sided, and the Shadows were beginning to
dissipate one by one.

He made eye contact with Seria and was about to move.

Redin suddenly felt an intense surge of mana behind him.

“Move!”

At Isabelle’s voice, Seria and him stepped back together. Isabelle, fused with the Red Fox, unleashed a blast of blue flame with her fist.

*Fwoooosh!*

More than half of the Death Knights were consumed by the flames. Isabelle looked at him and grinned widely.

“There’s a lot to talk about, but… let’s deal with urgent matters first. I’ll take care of this one, so go down to the lower levels.”
