chapter 31

31 Witnessing the School Beauty’s Frenzy (1 / 2)

The accident happened too suddenly. When the other guests learned that the two had fallen into the water, they all rushed to visit and comfort them.

Qiao Sisi’s and Chu Xinran’s room was crowded with people. Fang Zhou wanted to take a look but couldn’t find an opportunity, so he decided to wait until after lunch to visit them.

However, even after lunch was over, Chu Xinran had not come out of her room.

Someone asked with concern, “Could Xinran be traumatized? She doesn’t even want to eat.”

“It’s possible. After all, surviving a near-death experience, it’s normal to feel upset.”

Fang Zhou’s ears twitched, and he subconsciously looked up at Qiao Sisi, noticing she had finished eating and was preparing to go for a walk.

Her mood seemed quite good, showing no signs of being affected by the drowning incident.

Indeed, a woman who had the strength to pull him into the sea wouldn’t be so fragile.

Thinking about how he almost drowned that morning, Fang Zhou’s mood also turned somewhat gloomy.

Was Qiao Sisi playing with him on purpose? In that situation, he only wanted to save someone or break free, without a moment to think.

But now, removed from the situation, he couldn’t judge.

Qiao Sisi used to be unable to swim, probably learning for the roles she took on in recent years.

Then why didn’t she swim up immediately? Did she find it amusing? Fang Zhou couldn’t understand Qiao Sisi’s thought process and could only suppress his doubts, waiting for another opportunity to ask.

On the other hand, Chu Xinran’s expression when she left the beach that morning was far from pleasant.

He decided he still needed to see her.

As for Qiao Sisi, he would let it be. That woman was doing fine, obviously without any issues.

After lunch, Fang Zhou volunteered to prepare a meal for Chu Xinran and brought it to her on a tray.

“Knock knock.” “Knock knock.”

After several knocks, Chu Xinran didn’t open the door, leaving Fang Zhou puzzled and prompting him to call out to her.

“Xinran, it’s time to eat. I’ve brought you some food.”

After he said this, there was a sudden sound of something falling inside the room, and Chu Xinran’s reply was somewhat flustered.

“Just leave it at the door, I’ll eat it in a bit!”

Fang Zhou found it strange; her behavior was truly abnormal.

He had heard that some people who were rescued from drowning would continuously relive the suffocation, leading to nightmares at night and poor sleep.

The next day, they would feel unwell, continuing the vicious cycle.

Fearing that Chu Xinran might indeed be left with a psychological shadow, he still wanted to see her condition for himself.

“Open the door, I have something to tell you.”

“No, don’t, just say what you have to say!”

The more Chu Xinran refused, the more it aroused Fang Zhou’s suspicions.

He frowned, decided to try the doorknob, wanting to see if he could enter.

“Some things are inconvenient to say outside, I should come in…”

He turned it casually and actually opened the door.

But the scene inside made him freeze for a few seconds, then his eyes widened in disbelief: “What are you doing!”

Chu Xinran was sitting on the edge of the bed, her right hand holding a sharp knife, her left hand raised like that, with blood seeping from her delicate wrist, dripping onto the floor drop by drop.

The clash of red and white was so glaring, and the fragile girl looked so pitiful.

The already small room was filled with the smell of blood, making one involuntarily frown.

Seeing Fang Zhou enter, Chu Xinran was startled, hurriedly hiding the knife behind her back, while frantically trying to cover it up.

“I, I didn’t do anything, I accidentally cut my hand.”

Such a clumsy lie, Fang Zhou saw through it at a glance.

He walked into the room with a frown, closed the door with his foot, placed the tray he was holding on the table, and then stepped closer to Chu Xinran.

Chu Xinran’s eyes widened, looking at him somewhat helplessly, her whole body stiffened, unable to move, only muttering softly, “You, don’t come over.”

She had changed into a new outfit, now wearing a black velvet skirt, which should have exuded elegance, but now, against the backdrop of fresh blood, it seemed like a ferocious beast.

“Give me the knife.”

Fang Zhou stared at Chu Xinran expressionlessly, extending his hand in front of her to ask for the knife.

The closer he got to her, the stronger the smell of blood at the tip of his nose, and the heavier Fang Zhou’s heart became.

The girl in front of him shrank back, subconsciously hiding the knife even deeper, unwilling to hand it over.

Her lips were tightly pursed, and the hand that was dripping blood was also tightly clenched, silently resisting.

But Fang Zhou repeated, “Give me the knife, be good.”

The man’s voice was light and soft, as if coaxing a rare treasure, especially the rising tone at the end of the sentence, which left Chu Xinran utterly defenseless, only able to surrender.

She slowly brought out the hand from behind her back, and gently placed the knife in the man’s broad palm, looking at Fang Zhou with a pair of moist apricot eyes, as if pleading.

Finally getting hold of the dangerous item, Fang Zhou silently let out a sigh of relief.

He placed the knife on the table beside him, then softly asked, “Do you have something like gauze?”

Chu Xinran nodded, pointing to the medicine box on the bedside table, “There’s some there.”

Fang Zhou went over to check, and indeed, the medicine box was well-stocked with gauze scissors, medicinal wine for bruises, iodine, and the like, but there was no painkiller.

He wondered, “Why is there no painkiller?”

All the commonly used items were there, so why not prepare this one?

Hearing his question, Chu Xinran blinked her eyes but did not answer.

She lowered her eyelids, and her lashes cast shadows beneath her eyes like two small brushes.

Because I don’t want to stop the pain.

That way, I can share some of the agony of losing you.

Silence spread throughout the room. Fang Zhou didn’t get her response and had to come over with the gauze.

“Stretch out your hand.”

Chu Xinran’s wrists were slender and long, and they glowed white, silky and delicate like milk under the sunlight.

Just as the saying goes, her fair wrists were as frosty as ever.

But Fang Zhou wasn’t in any romantic mood at the moment. He pulled out a few tissues, wiped off the blood that had flowed out for Chu Xinran, and then began to bandage.

The best way to bandage a wrist wound is the spiral method, simple and convenient.

Such an ordinary action, however, caught Chu Xinran’s attention. She asked softly, “How do you know how to do this?” It looked quite professional.

Ordinary people just wrap the gauze around the wound repeatedly, which actually presses on the wound.

Fang Zhou blurted out, “Someone taught me.”

“Who taught you?” Chu Xinran pressed on.

“Qin…” Yun.

He didn’t finish the word, but fortunately, Fang Zhou quickly closed his mouth and changed it to “I asked someone to teach me.”

“I’ve attended a first-aid training.”

“Oh, I see.”

Chu Xinran nodded, pressing down the curiosity in her heart, and didn’t ask further.

Only Fang Zhou sighed in his heart: That was close, I almost revealed another ex-girlfriend.
