Chapter 4 - 0004 Examination

Chapter 4: Chapter 0004 Examination

Days passed after submitting his resume and nothing happened, it felt like throwing a stone into the ocean. Out of boredom, Yang Ping entered the System space, remembering he was given another experience package for completing an emergency aid task on the street.

Once he opened the treasure chest, he found a gift inside–basic surgical skills training.

Yang Ping opened the training package and started his intensive training.

A surgical bed appeared out of nowhere, with a prepared subject laying on top.

“This training will last for three months,” the female voice explained.

Three months without eating, drinking, sleeping, or using the toilet, training non-stop. Damn it, isn’t it inhumane?

>It’s devilish training, real devilish training.

“Incision, suturing, dissection, knotting, hemostasis, these five basic surgical skills training will begin now!” Before Yang Ping could react, the training had already started.

Yang Ping started to use his imagination, pulling out all his relevant knowledge. All sorts of body parts, various layers, diverse shapes of incisions; intermittent suturing, continuous suturing, purse-string suturing, vascular suturing, nerve suturing, tendon suturing, skin suturing, fascia suturing; finger dissection, vascular clamp dissection, scissor dissection, curved knife dissection, scalpel dissection; single-handed knotting, double-handed knotting, instrument knotting.

Each item was trained countless times. Initially, it was single-item training. Every item trained was scored by the system. After it was completed, the next item was initiated. After the five items were finished, the comprehensive training started.

This kind of intensive training was incredibly efficient! Yang Ping had sutured hundreds of blood vessels for the vascular anastomosis alone. It took over ten minutes for each at the start, subsequently reduced to a few minutes each. At first, the sutures were crooked but gradually, he could make his stitches evenly spaced and beautiful.

If it were in reality, who would have so much time to practice basic surgical skills? Even if you took out an hour every day, it would take 2160 days, about 6 years. Very few people have this level of patience and perseverance!

In other words, this training package is equivalent to letting Yang Ping practice his basic surgical skills for an hour every day continuously for 6 years.

And then with the cessation of time came the disappearance of the operating table and the experimental body.

More than ten days passed. During these agonizing days, Yang Ping had no idea how he got through, spending every day with a copy of “Orthopedic Surgery,” which eventually fell apart.

Finally, the call arrived – Sanbo Hospital, the one with a helipad on its roof.

He had some knowledge about this hospital, which was only established a little over a decade ago. It was rumored to have been founded by a wealthy overseas Chinese, hence it was also referred to as the Overseas Chinese Hospital.

This hospital was newly built and located somewhat in the outskirts, so its reputation couldn’t compete with the Affiliated Hospital of Nandu Medical University, G City People’s Hospital, or the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.

Yet, it was still a Provincial Level III Hospital. Undeniably, it had high demands for its staff. The job vacancy post explicitly mentioned a starting qualification of a master’s degree and required 211 and 985 universities.

Those who got in, all had special channels.

As he received the call, he decided to go! There might be some urgent positions, lowering the standards. For instance, the obstetrics and gynecology department wanted to improve team cohesion by increasing the number of male doctors? For survival, Yang Ping didn’t mind adjusting his professional direction somewhat.

The name brand bag, purchased for thirty bucks, and the cheap but long-preserved suit were finally put to use.

Yang Ping, dressed in a suit and carrying a black leather bag, stood at the entrance of Sanbo Hospital, full of confidence, looking up at the twin-star main building. On the top floor, a helicopter was landing.

The interview took place in the teaching room of the orthopedic department, with a large wave of people coming in for the interview, causing Yang Ping to lose count as the room filled to the brim.

After quietly snooping around, he discovered that people seated on his left were from Beijing Medical University, while those on his right were from Huaxi Hospital. He couldn’t find a single timid person. He started doubting if the human resources department had made a mistake in making the call, or if he was just invited to make up the numbers, perhaps the admission quota was already predetermined.

The person standing on the podium was the Department Director of Orthopaedics, Han Jiangong, who was not tall, but strong, with thick, short hair, and bright eyes.

He waved the name list in his hand, saying:

“Usually, when you come for an interview at a hospital, it involves first a written test, then an operational test. Today, we’re doing it in reverse order. Why? Because a surgeon needs to have hands-on capabilities first. Without it, everything else is mere idle talk! Those who fail the operational test will be eliminated immediately; those who pass the operational test will proceed to the next step, the written test. Now, let Dr. Song Zimo introduce the operational test -”

“This guy has a PhD from Fudan University, he’s pretty impressive,” a doctor beside him whispered.

“Do you know him?” Yang Ping asked, surprised.

The man replied proudly, “A senior told me about him. This guy is a genius. When he was studying at Magic City Sixth Hospital, he trained in microsurgery. He was tasked to do procedures on a hundred rat tails. His success rate was 100%, and his time was the fastest among everyone.”

Indeed, this was a bit impressive!

Yang Ping looked past the crowd at Song Zimo. At his twenties, he stood over everyone physically and mentally. With a height of at least 185cm, a balanced physique, high nose, proper facial features, and clear contours.

Two words came to mind – handsome.

Furthermore, he was a PhD holder and a recognized talent. He was truly charismatic. However, this had no connection to Yang Ping since he was there for the interview.

“Welcome everyone to choose Sanbo. Although our hospital, Sanbo, has only been established for just over a decade, our technical level is no less than any other hospital in G City. As long as you work hard, Sanbo will give you plenty of development opportunities – training, further education, studying abroad – ”

“Spouting nonsense without needing a draft,” thought Yang Ping.

“You don’t know much about Sanbo, do you? Do you know who the director that spoke just now is? Han Jiangong, he came from Magic City Sixth Hospital. He is a leading figure in Trauma Orthopaedics in this country.”
