Chapter 679: Vivian's Value
"Here, this is his picture." Vivian handed her phone to Catherine, displaying a photo of Hao Jian.
Upon seeing the photo of Hao Jian, Catherine gasped sharply, her face filled with shock.
It's him? Catherine found it hard to believe. She had never expected to encounter Hao Jian in Huaxia. They had been searching for him all this time, and now they had stumbled upon him here.
Catherine had to admit it was quite a coincidence.
"Do you know him?" Seeing Catherine's reaction, Vivian immediately grew suspicious. Could it be that what Hao Jian said was true? Was he really a friend of her father?
Because Catherine had mentioned before that she and her father were colleagues, and clearly, Catherine knew Hao Jian as well.
Hearing this, Catherine instantly regained her composure, her expression solemn as she said, "You've been deceived. He's not your dad's friend; he's your dad's enemy, the one who killed your father!"
"What?" On hearing this, Vivian's expression dramatically changed. Hao Jian was her father's murderer?
"Impossible. Then why did he spare me? He knew I am Xueci's daughter; he should have just killed me." Vivian thought Catherine's words were nonsensical. If Hao Jian were her enemy, why would he leave alive someone who could be a threat to him?
"Perhaps he did so to provoke us, the Assassins Alliance," Catherine said with a cold laugh.
"What do you mean?" Vivian was even more confused. This was now involving the Alliance too?
"Do you know who Hao Jian is?" Catherine asked with a smile.
"A scumbag." Vivian nodded naturally.
"That's what you think of him? Well, if you say he's a scumbag, then so be it." Catherine couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time before saying, "But it's precisely this scumbag who has rendered the kings of the four forbidden zones helpless against him."
"Is he the God of Death?" Vivian immediately understood. The only person in the world who could render the kings of the four major forbidden zones helpless was the sole ruler of the Underworld, the God of Death.
"Do you think any tom, dick, or harry could kill your father? Your father was the strongest in the entire Assassins Alliance, second only to the king, Shadow Demon," Catherine explained.
"Everyone knows that the God of Death is an enemy of our four alliances. Your father was present when Shadow Demon led us to attack him, but unfortunately, he met his end at the hands of the God of Death. He knew you were taken in by us, and by letting you go, he probably wanted to provoke us," Catherine continued.
"Is that so?" But Vivian expressed her doubt, feeling that things were not so simple.
Catherine feigned anger. "As your teacher, would I deceive you? Or do you prefer to trust a man you've barely met rather than an alliance that has raised you?"
Vivian pondered for a moment, then angrily threw the dagger in her hand, piercing the television set in front of her. "I will make that guy pay for fooling me!"
Clearly, Vivian had been misled by Catherine, fully believing what Catherine had said.
"Hold on, don't be rash. You shouldn't fall out with him just yet. Instead, you should stay close to him and wait for the right moment to strike!" Catherine quickly advised Vivian.
"Are you asking me to be friends with the man who killed my father?" Vivian immediately understood Catherine's intention, feeling a mix of shame and anger. Hao Jian had killed her father and duped her so cruelly; she loathed Hao Jian down to her bones. How could she possibly become friends with him?
"Vivian, don't be impulsive. Even the great Shadow Demon was no match for the God of Death. Do you think we can kill him just by ourselves? A head-on confrontation won't do us any good. We have to use our wits. Listen to me..." Then, Catherine leaned towards Vivian, whispering a few words into her ear.
Vivian's expression changed repeatedly before she finally smirked sinisterly. "Okay, we'll do as you say!"
"Good, we'll be in touch!" Catherine nodded and then left the room.
As soon as Catherine had left Vivian's room, she immediately took out her phone and made a call. "Shadow Demon, I've found the God of Death, right here in Huaxia."
"Oh? He finally shows up," a gentle voice came from the other end.
"Sir, is it time to use the pawn we've prepared for so many years?" Catherine continued.
"You mean Vivian?" Shadow Demon asked.
"Right, isn't that why we've kept her and trained her? So that one day we could use her to kill the God of Death," Catherine said ominously.
"Only I can kill the God of Death. All you need to do is injure him, understand?"
"Yes, I understand!" Catherine responded solemnly.
"Go on then, act according to the plan!"
.......
Meanwhile, several large trucks had stopped in front of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital's entrance, among them an out-of-place black BMW car.
"Are you sure this is the place?" Gao Luyuan asked.
"That's right, this is the place. This guy used to teach here, and as far as I know, he had a particularly good relationship with a female teacher and two female students. All three of them are in the school right now. I've investigated everything clearly." One of Gao Luyuan's confidants replied. He was obviously referring to Qin Bing, Zhao Yating, and Che Xiaoxiao — they were the three who got along best in the Chinese Medicine Hospital.
"Good, kidnap them, then use them to threaten Hao Jian," Gao Luyuan said with a fierce glint in his eyes. Then he waved his hand grandly, "Go, catch them all for me!"
Swish!
The containers of the several trucks were suddenly opened, and a group of knife-wielding thugs jumped down and rushed into the school.
Gao Luyuan also followed leisurely into the school, his face filled with gloom and cunning.
Since it was summer vacation, there were only a few students and teachers left in the school, so Gao Luyuan's choice of this time was almost foolproof.
There were so few people in the school that they could be easily controlled by his group of over a hundred. By then, even if they wanted to call the police, they couldn't.
"Hey, what are you doing?" The gatekeeper at the entrance was baffled to see so many people rushing in and was just about to dial for the police.
At that moment, Gao Luyuan's eyes flashed dangerously, and he signaled to his subordinates.
Then one of his men, carrying a large knife, went towards the gatekeeper. Shortly after, the gatekeeper's screams could be heard coming from within.
All of them strode boldly into the school, and Gao Luyuan roared, "Search for me!"
Hundreds of people swarmed out, searching through the school for the whereabouts of Che Xiaoxiao and the other two.
"Teacher Qin, are you really going to resign?" Inside the principal's office, Du Yuelin asked somewhat reluctantly. After all, Qin Bing had worked at the school for several years and had always performed well, but she was now suddenly resigning.
Qin Bing gave a wry smile and said, "If I don't leave, Hao Jian won't come back. He is the truly outstanding teacher, the students need him more than they need me."
"I believe Hao Jian won't be so petty. He won't avoid the school just because you're here," Du Yuelin explained.
"It's not because of him, it's because of me. My foolishness hurt him, and I don't want to harm him further because of me," Qin Bing said with a smile, but although she was smiling, Du Yuelin felt like she was crying.
Du Yuelin sighed and said, "Both of you are excellent teachers at our Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. I really don't want any of you to leave."
"Principal, my mind is made up. Please respect my decision," Qin Bing stated indifferently, clearly determined to leave. Hao Jian hadn't returned to the school for a long time, and Qin Bing believed it was because of her.
Perhaps it was only after she left that Hao Jian could return.
Du Yuelin sighed again and reluctantly signed the resignation letter.
"Thank you." Qin Bing nodded and then turned to leave.
"After leaving the school, do you have any plans?" Du Yuelin asked.
"I don't know. I plan to leave Hua City and then figure things out," Qin Bing said without looking back, and then she walked out of Du Yuelin's office.
Du Yuelin sat in his office chair, tapping his fingers on the desk. After hesitating for a few seconds, he decided to call Hao Jian.
He thought that only Hao Jian had the means to persuade Qin Bing to stay.
After leaving Du Yuelin's office, Qin Bing appeared to have lost her soul, with a bitter smile on her lips. "Hao Jian, I hope you can stop hating me!"
Qin Bing believed that Hao Jian's unwillingness to come back to the school was because he was still angry with her, and she understood why he would feel that way. If it had been her, she probably couldn't forgive either.
But just as Qin Bing reached the staircase, she saw several thugs armed with large knives coming up. Qin Bing froze immediately, and the thugs also paused in surprise at the sight of her.
Qin Bing instantly became nervous. Given her past experiences, her intuition told her these people were here for her.
Qin Bing quickly stepped back, thinking of retreating. In the middle of the night, a group of thugs with knives appearing in the school obviously meant trouble.
"That's her, grab her!" The thugs quickly recognized Qin Bing as their target and shouted, chasing after her.
Qin Bing broke into a sprint and rushed back to Du Yuelin's office, pounding on the door, "Principal, open the door! Hurry!"
"She's there, get her!" Meanwhile, the thugs had caught up as well. Seeing that Du Yuelin didn't open the door, Qin Bing had no choice but to run down another corridor.
At that time, Du Yuelin slowly opened the door, only to see several thugs rushing towards him, and he was also stunned.
