Chapter 37: CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN:NEW FUNCTIONS
"daily tasks completed", Bassam said stretching as we decided to stroll around before going back home.
"completed for the day", I replied as I looked at the system.

Bassam how many Exp left for you to get to the next level ? , I asked.
"just sixty remaining to get to level four", Bassam replied.
"after tomorrow's daily tasks you will level up" , I said with a smile.
"yeah, what about you ?, Bassam asked.
"same here too" , I said .
"The weather is cool" , Bassam said as he rubbed his arms after walking for some times.
that's.... , the sound of the police sirens stopped me from talking as two police vehicles pass by our side in full speed.
should we ..., Bassam used his thumb to point at the police vehicles as he tilted his head towards the direction they were heading to.
"you read my mind", I said as I began to run after the vehicle and Bassam followed after me .
after following the vehicle's for a few minutes, we got to a hospital few blocks away from our school.
what's going on in the hospital ? , i said.
let's find out, Bassam said we both sneaked towards the police vehicles so we can eavesdrop on what the three police officers were saying at the front of the hospital.
so you are saying that someone came to the hospital and stole blood bags officer Bryan, the older officer asked as he looks at the duo .
Yes sir, that's what I was told when I got here so I decided to call for backup , officer Brian replied.
what about the security guards ? the older officer asked .
"they are all unconscious as we speak , the tried to stop the blood thief but they all ended up in a bad shape", officer Brian shakes his head as he explained.
"well then let's go and confirm", the older officer said as he began to walk into the hospital and the two officers followed behind him.
SUPREME WEREWOLF SYSTEM
YOUR SUBORDINATE SENT A MESSAGE: READ/IGNORE
"this is new", I muttered to myself as I opened the message.
MESSAGES
BASSAM: HOPE IT'S NOT WHAT I'M THINKING.
"how did you do it" , I asked Bassam with surprise.
"do what" ? , Bassam feign ignorance .
"you know what I'm talking about so stop pretending", I said
"I was just thinking about sending a message to you through the system playfully and it worked", Bassam explained.
"I'm really impressed", I said with a smile.
"how are we going to look for the blood sucking thief and rescue the blood bags" , Bassam said.
Ethan told Bassam, "We should search the area. Maybe we can track down the blood thief and recover those blood bags."
Bassam nodded in agreement. "Let's split up. If you find anything, send me a message through the system."
At that moment, the system chimed in both of their minds.
SUPREME WEREWOLF SYSTEM
NEW QUEST: Locate the missing blood bags.
REWARD: 50 EXP
"Seems like we've got a task," Ethan said with a smirk, his eyes flashing. They both moved out, scanning the area.
For a few minutes, they searched silently, keeping to the shadows and listening for anything out of the ordinary. Ethan's wolf senses were on high alert, but there was nothing—no strange scents, no unusual sounds. His frustration grew as the minutes dragged on. His system pinged with a message from Bassam.
BASSAM: I found nothing.
Ethan sent back a quick reply.
ETHAN: Same here. But meet me back at the hospital. I've got an idea.
Two minutes later, Bassam arrived, his breathing steady despite the quick run. "What's your plan?" he asked, falling into step beside Ethan as they ran down the street.
Ethan led Bassam through a winding series of alleyways. "There's a place nearby , I have a feeling we'll find something there."
They reached the narrow alley, dark and ominous, and walked through it until they came out the other side. It opened up to a row of abandoned, half-finished buildings. The air was colder here, and the eerie silence only heightened the tension.
"Why do you think they're here?" Bassam asked, scanning the decaying structures.
Ethan's eyes narrowed as he focused on the buildings. "This is where those girls from school were found, and the amount of blood stolen from the hospital is no coincidence.
Bassam grimaced, but before he could say anything, Ethan's ears perked up. He heard it—soft, wet sounds echoing faintly from one of the uncompleted buildings. Slurping. Feeding.
"There," Ethan whispered, pointing toward the largest of the structures. The two of them exchanged a glance and sprinted toward it, their footsteps silent.
As they entered the building, the foul stench of blood hit their noses, stronger than before. Inside, the scene before them was grotesque. Three boys, covered in blood, were hungrily tearing open blood bags and drinking, their faces and clothes stained with red. Their eyes were wide, feral, as they looked up in shock at Ethan and Bassam.
Bassam's breath caught in his throat. "Those boys…they're in my class."
Ethan's gaze hardened as he realized something even more disturbing. "They're Billy's friends."
At that moment, Billy stepped out from a room at the back of the building, a cup of blood in his hand. He sipped it leisurely, smirking as he approached. "Well, well. If it isn't Ethan Snow," Billy drawled, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "Why are you interrupting the fun?"
Ethan didn't respond. His anger flared, and without warning, he charged at Billy, his body shifting mid-run. His muscles bulged, fur sprouting along his arms as his claws extended. Bassam let out a growl and transformed as well, rushing to help Ethan, but the three boys blocked his path.
Bassam snarled, throwing a punch at the nearest boy. The impact sent the boy flying back, but the other two were on him in an instant. They were fast, but Bassam was stronger, dodging and landing quick, powerful blows. Despite his strength, they were relentless, and their numbers kept him occupied, preventing him from helping Ethan.
Ethan, meanwhile, was locked in a vicious one-on-one with Billy. He lunged at him, claws slashing through the air. Billy dodged with unnatural speed, sidestepping Ethan's attacks and delivering a sharp kick to his side. Ethan growled, shaking off the hit and striking back, landing a powerful punch to Billy's chest that sent him staggering.
"You think you're so tough," Billy spat, wiping blood from his lip. "But you're not the only one with power."
Billy's eyes glowed a deep crimson, and he rushed at Ethan with blinding speed. The two clashed in a flurry of blows, claws scraping against skin and fists landing with bone-crunching force.
Ethan's fury fueled his attacks, each strike landing harder than the last. In a burst of rage, he punched Billy so hard that the vampire was sent flying into the nearest room, crashing through the wall.
Ethan charged after him, but as he reached the room, he froze. Billy emerged, holding an unconscious girl in his arms, his claws pressed dangerously close to her throat.
"Stay back," Billy warned, his voice cold. "Or she dies."
Ethan's heart pounded in his chest. He recognized the girl—it was one of the students from his school.
"what do you want" , Ethan asked as he looks at Billy in anger.
"Let us go, and I'll let her live," Billy continued, his eyes locked on Ethan. "I'll walk to the end of the alley with her. My friends will leave first, and then I'll let her go. But don't follow until we're long gone, or you'll never see her again."
Ethan's mind raced. He could feel Bassam's tension from behind him, but there was no time for debate. His system pinged with a message from Bassam.
**BASSAM: Don't trust him.**
Ethan quickly replied, **ETHAN: We don't have a choice.**
With a slow nod, Ethan agreed to Billy's terms, though every fiber of his being screamed to tear the vampire apart.
Billy walked cautiously to the other end of the alley with the girl, his three friends bolting ahead, disappearing into the night. After waiting a few agonizing seconds, Billy shoved the unconscious girl to the ground and spread his wings. With a mocking bow to Ethan, he took off into the sky, vanishing into the darkness.
Ethan and Bassam rushed to the girl's side. She was breathing, but a deep claw mark ran across her cheek, leaving a bloody trail down her face.
Bassam clenched his fists. "Where should we take her?"
Ethan's ears twitched, picking up the distant wail of police sirens. "Leave her. The police are almost here."
As they slipped back into the shadows, Bassam shot Ethan a look. "We're going to get Billy for this."
Ethan's eyes burned with resolve. "I know. And next time, he won't get away".
