SUPREME ARCH-MAGUS

Chapter 759: Intense War! [Bonus Chapter]

Philip stood atop the highest spire of the Demon Castle, gazing down at the endless waves of his army, stretching far beyond the dark horizon. Unlike the reckless onslaught of the first day, today was different. The humans had proven themselves more resilient than expected, and Philip knew he could not rely on sheer numbers alone. He had learned his lesson. He had to outthink them, outmaneuver them, and crush their morale before they even stepped foot on the battlefield. He turned to his generals, his voice sharp as a blade. "Assemble the army and fortify the shield formation on all four sides of the castle. Do not attack like headless idiots. Today, we defend first and then annihilate." The demon generals, clad in their grotesque armors, nodded in unison. One of them, a massive warlock with black horns twisting skyward, stepped forward. "My Lord, what about our ghosts? They thirst for human souls." Philip smirked. "After the initial phase. Once we block their spells and thin their numbers, we unleash the abyssal red ghosts. Let them wreak havoc within their ranks." A smaller, serpent-like demon hissed in delight. "Poison, my lord? The venom from the Hell Dungeons could render their magic useless. Shall we taint the battlefield?" Philip's eyes glowed with malice. "Yes. Have it ready, but use it wisely. We want them to struggle, not flee. And listen well, all of you—no one attacks Kent directly. That bastard is strong, and if we fail to kill him, he'll tear through our ranks. Instead, target his mother. Madam Clark. If she falls, Kent will be half-dead." The demon generals roared in approval and dispersed to prepare the army. Philip clenched his fists, staring into the distance. "This time… the humans will know true despair." By the time the moon cast its eerie glow over the battlefield, the demon army stood ready in synchronized formations. Unlike the chaotic mass of the previous day, today they formed an unbreakable shield wall, stretching across the entire perimeter of the castle. Their weapons gleamed under the blood-red sky, and the air pulsed with sinister energy. Across the battlefield, the human army was equally prepared. The warriors stood in tight formations, their leaders standing tall before them. Kent floated above his troops on his golden throne, his dragon Sparky hovering beside him. His eyes scanned the battlefield, taking in the demon's new tactics. Philip had adapted. This would not be an easy fight. Kent raised his voice, his words carrying across the field. "Our victory yesterday was only the beginning. The demons think they can match us. They are wrong!" The human soldiers roared in response. He raised his bow and continued. "But remember, do not change your forms! Beasts stay in beast form. Wizards remain as they are. If any of you infiltrate their ranks or shapeshift, I cannot guarantee your safety. Stay alert! The demons will try to trick you!" A united battle cry shook the heavens. "ALL HAIL THE DRAGON LORD!" With the human army moved into four directions, Kent took command of the north, facing the main entrance of the Demon Castle. Madam Clark led the southern front, the Supreme Sword Master Elarin controlled the east, and the mighty Zi God Ancestor Dragon led the west. A deep, rumbling laughter echoed across the battlefield. Philip emerged from the castle, standing atop his floating chariot. He circled above the demon army, his voice mocking. "Humans, your first victory has filled your hearts with foolish pride. But you are mere insects before the true power of the Demon Race!" Kent's eyes narrowed as Philip continued. "We have summoned creatures that your mortal minds cannot comprehend. Our abyssal ghosts will feast on your souls! The poisons of the underworld will rot your flesh! And your magic? It will be worthless!" The human army murmured, some shifting nervously. Philip grinned, sensing their hesitation. "And Kent! You are a fool for bringing your mother to the battlefield. When she dies, let's see if you still have the will to fight." Kent remained unfazed. "Idiot, you hide behind tricks because you fear me. You know you cannot defeat me in a fair fight. So you resort to poisons, ghosts, and cheap ambushes. That is why you will lose." Philip sneered. "We shall see, Dumb Dragon lord… We shall see." The war drums sounded. The second day of battle began. The human army surged forward, launching powerful spells at the demon ranks. Fireballs, ice spears, and lightning bolts filled the air, crashing against the demon's shield wall. But this time, the demons held firm. Their formations blocked the attacks, absorbing the damage without breaking. The defence war continued until midnight where two sides locked in a tight defensive war. But just as everything seemed normal, Phillip's wicked laugh resounded among the battlefield. "Now!" Phillip roared with his conch sound. From the big gates of demon castle, the abyssal red ghosts emerged. They shrieked as they rushed into the human ranks, whispering maddening words into the ears of soldiers. Some warriors clutched their heads, dropping their weapons as visions of terror overtook them. Others turned on their comrades, slashing wildly. Madam Clark shouted, "Formation! HOLD YOUR THOUGHTS! They are trying to break us!" In the next hour, more than half a million human armies fell victim to red ghosts. Elarin took the responsibility as Kent engaged with Phillip, unleashing blinding sword lights that cut through the ghosts. Fatty Ben, atop his massive elephant, ran circles around the demon army. He used his war horn to produce sound waves that disrupted the ghosts' illusions. Slowly, the human ranks steadied themselves. But Philip was not done. "Release the Hell Dungeon Poison!" Demon archers launched green mist bombs into the human army. As they exploded, thick clouds of poisonous vapor spread, causing wizards to cough violently, their spells faltering. Kent gritted his teeth. He raised his bow, drawing divine energy. "You dare use poison in my presence? Let's see how you handle true poison!" A golden light erupted as he fired antidote arrows into the sky which were ready in his divine quivers. The heavens rumbled, and a torrential downpour descended upon the battlefield, washing away the poison in an instant. Philip's face twisted in fury. "Damn you, Kent!" But Philip had one last trick. His magical chariot soared above the battlefield, weaving through the clouds as he hurled dark spells upon the human army. No one could pinpoint his location. For next few hours, Phillip dominated the battlefield as Kent's arrows missed the magical chariot of Phillip. Kent finally understood the magic chariot's trick. "You think you can hide from me?" He activated his sound-element spells, sending vibrating waves through the battlefield. The magic honed in on Philip's location, revealing his movements. With inhuman speed, he released three arrows. The first shattered Philip's protective barrier. The second pierced his chariot, causing it to spiral. The third grazed Philip's arm, sending him crashing to the ground. Philip scrambled to his feet, his confidence shattered. "Fall back! FALL BACK! Enough for today." The demons, sensing their leader's panic, retreated into the castle. Kent floated above, his bow still raised. "This war is far from over, Philip. Next time, you won't escape so easily." The second day of battle ended. The demons retreated. The humans stood victorious once more. - Thank you for power stones and Golden-Tickets.
