Chapter 118: Paparazzi and fans
Sarah took a deep breath before speaking. "Ehm... guys, I think we might have a problem."
Immediately, all eyes turned to her. Ethan, Taylor, Tree, and Rebecca looked at her expectantly, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity.
"What's wrong?" Ethan asked, his voice edged with tension.
Sarah sighed. "Outside. No one can leave. The whole place is packed."
A hush fell over the room as her words sank in.
Tree frowned. "What do you mean packed?"
"I mean, the entrance, the parking lot—everywhere is crowded. Paparazzi, fans... It's a mess," Sarah explained.
Rebecca groaned. "Great. Just great. This is exactly what we needed."
Ethan rubbed his temples. "We should've left earlier."
Taylor glanced at Tree. "Now what?"
Tree sighed. "We'll figure something out."
Meanwhile, at the hospital, an intense discussion was taking place in a private conference room. The CEO, head doctors, and several important hospital staff were seated, their expressions ranging from excitement to concern.
A doctor adjusted his glasses and leaned forward. "This is unbelievable. Do you realize who we have in this hospital right now? I mean, I was the one who treated Taylor Swift!"
Another doctor scoffed, rolling her eyes. "You think that's impressive? I treated Ethan Jones! And let me tell you, that boy is even more beautiful up close."
A female doctor who had spoken gave a dreamy sigh, clasping her hands together. "You should've seen those blue eyes up close. It's unreal."
Another doctor chuckled. "Forget that. The real question is—how do we get their autographs?"
A low, authoritative cough silenced them. The CEO, who had been silently observing, stood up and pulled back the curtain covering the large window. "Guys, we have a bigger problem than autographs."
The doctors moved closer to the window, gasping in unison.
Below, outside the hospital, was a sea of people. Paparazzi with flashing cameras, fans waving posters and screaming, security trying to keep the chaos under control. Most of them were Taylor Swift fans, but there was a fair number of Ethan's fans as well. Some held signs with messages of love and support, while others were simply desperate to catch a glimpse of their idols. The hospital parking lot was swarming, making it nearly impossible for any normal activity to continue.
One of the doctors whistled. "Well, that explains the noise."
Another rubbed his forehead. "This is insane. If this keeps up, we'll need extra security just to move around."
The CEO turned back to them, expression grave. "What are we going to do now?"
"Aren't they okay? Can't we just ask everyone to leave?" one of the doctors suggested.
"And how do you plan to do that?" another responded. "They're celebrities. We can't just send them out like regular patients."
"But we have to," a more serious doctor added. "Just because they're famous doesn't mean we should let them inconvenience our other patients."
A nurse, who had been quietly listening, chimed in. "Even if we wanted to move them, how? The second they step outside, it'll be mayhem. The media will have a field day."
The CEO let out a deep sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Don't worry. I'll go speak with them myself."
Several hands shot up.
"Sir, let me come with you. I need to check something."
"Me too! I need to see if Ethan's head bandage should be changed."
The CEO narrowed his eyes at them. "You guys just want to see them, don't you?"
The guilty looks and awkward shuffling said it all.
He sighed again, shaking his head. "As long as they're here, they are our patients first. Let's treat them as such."
And with that, he left the room alone.
As the door closed behind him, one of the doctors scoffed. "I bet he just wants to see them too."
Another doctor smirked. "Oh, definitely."
A few chuckled under their breaths, but soon, the room settled back into business. The situation outside wasn't just a spectacle—it was a logistical nightmare. Meanwhile, some staff continued stealing glances at the window, eager to catch another glimpse of their famous patients, knowing full well that this was a hospital visit they would never forget.
Back in their hospital room, Ethan, Taylor, Tree, Rebecca, and the others sat in silence, each lost in thought. The chaos outside wasn't going away anytime soon, and the reality of their situation was sinking in.
Rebecca sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Okay, so, how do we get through this?"
Taylor leaned back against the bed, rubbing her temples. "Do we have any options besides just waiting it out?"
Ethan exhaled sharply. "We could try sneaking out, but with that many people outside? Not happening."
Tree crossed her arms. "We need a plan, or we'll be stuck here all night."
Before anyone could reply, a soft knock came from the door.
Everyone immediately tensed.
"Who is it?" Tree called out, cautious.
A feminine voice answered from the other side. "I'm the nurse. I came to check on something."
Taylor glanced at Ethan, then at Tree, who gave a small nod. "Come in."
The door opened, and the nurse stepped inside. She was covered head to toe—wearing a mask, gloves, and even a cap that hid most of her hair. Only her eyes were visible, darting around the room as she took in the sight before her.
First, her gaze landed on Taylor Swift. Her eyes widened slightly, but she remained composed. Then, she turned and saw Ethan.
The moment she recognized him, she let out a loud, high-pitched scream.
Before anyone could react, the nurse's body wobbled, her legs gave out, and she collapsed right there on the floor.
"Whoa! What the hell?!" Rebecca shouted.
"Grab her! Grab her!" Tree yelled, jumping up in panic.
Ethan instinctively moved forward, but Taylor beat him to it, reaching for the unconscious nurse. Sarah, who had been quiet the whole time, rushed over as well.
"Oh my God! Is she okay?" Taylor asked, shaking the nurse lightly.
Rebecca threw her hands up. "Are you kidding me? We have doctors fainting over Ethan now?"
Ethan blinked in shock. "I—uh—this is new."
Tree pressed her fingers to her temples. "This just keeps getting better."
As the nurse lay sprawled on the floor, unmoving, the group exchanged bewildered glances.
"Well," Ethan muttered, staring at the unconscious woman. "Now what?"
