Supernatural: The Huntsman.

Chapter 21: Final destination.

Finally, they reached the place in the forest called Black Water Ridge. The two brothers seemed more interested in the coordinates.

Roy posed to the group that he was going to look around the area. Alexander was against this idea, unlike the group he knew they were being watched.

Likely by a creature he believed to be a phenomenal hunter capable of stalking prey and attacking them when vulnerable. Leaving the group to go off on your own? It didn't get more vulnerable than that.

'Why do they always want to split up.' He cried.

Apparently, Alexander wasn't the only person against this idea. "You shouldn't go off on your own," Sam stated.

Only to get a condescending chuckle from Roy before he left the group.

'Men.' Alexander groaned.

This was one of the reasons Alexander didn't mention that they were being watched to anyone. Because they wouldn't believe him and would probably chalk it up to him being scared or paranoid.

'What's so wrong with moving as a group anyway.' Alexander thought.

"Hailey," Roy called out from his new location.

Hailey along with the rest of the group rushed to Roy, he was standing in front of a little clearing surrounded by big tall trees.

In the clearing what greeted them was a horrible sight. They found Roy looking at a campsite. Only this campsite seemed to have met with an attack.

"A bear attack," Roy announced.

The tents were clawed and ripped. There were sprays of blood on the tents and the ground.

Roy confirmed that it was the campsite of her brother.

Hailey froze in fear of the worst but forcibly overcame it. "Tommy." She shouted calling for her brother in hopes that he was nearby and would hear her call. "Tommy." She called again. It wasn't very loud but in such a quiet forest it was loud enough.

Sam rushed to her side and shushed her advising her against making noise in the forest.

Alexander seeing that he wasn't much help just standing there took off his camping gear and moved forward to investigate the scene, giving the tense young Ben a reassuring tap on the shoulder as he did.

Standing in the middle of the brutal scene he began his investigation. Starting with the tent.

He eyed the tent. 'Hmm, claw marks... this violent yet simply clawing pattern. This would support Roy's bear attack theory.'

Alexander walked around the tent lightly picked it up and examined it. 'Matching sprays of blood outside the tent and inside the tent's entrance.' He scrutinised further.

'However, aside from that the inside of the tent is completely spotless.' Alexander observed.

'The attack must have taken place just outside the tent. Someone inside probably came out and was immediately attacked.' He carefully spread the tent. 'But looking at the state of the entrance, the tent's entrance was fully unzipped so there was no need to claw at the tent... a bear would lack that understanding.'

Alexander moved closer for a better look at the claw marks in the tents.' Little traces of blood in the markings, so it attacked someone first then clawed at the tent...' Alexander frowned. 'This means the entrance was opened when the tent was clawed.'

Alexander looked around at the surroundings. ' Aside from the tent nothing was touched. The camping gear, food, clothing, toiletries etc. They were all undamaged.'

'Then there's this.' Alexander thought, crouching down and delicately picking up a SatNav phone.

'Crushed beyond repair... A bear supposedly stumbles on a camp and attacks it. Leaves almost everything undamaged but then just coincidentally happens to crush their only means of communication? Plausible but unlikely.'

"Humm. What's this?" Alexander asked rhetorically, grunting to his feet.

He had spotted a pattern in the ground. He tilted his head scrutinising then walked over. 'A trail... going into the forest.'

'This trail...' He softly kneeled to touch, noticing the familiar yet distant pattern. 'Someone was dragged through here.'

Alexander followed. The trail led out of the campsite deeper into the forest but right before entering a dense grove of trees, the trail ended.

'The trail is smooth...too smooth. no sign of struggle. Whoever was dragged through here was either unconscious... or dead.' Alexander gurned.

'Then there is how the trail ends.' He looked up at the trees. Touching it softly, he began examining them. Each and every tree near the trail.

"Ugh." Alexander cried in disgust. Approaching a particular tree he was hit with a faint foul stench.

Pushing down his disgust he moved close to examine the tree. 'Broken brunches... deep claw-like indentations. And the fading smell.'

'This tree is most likely the attacker's escape path.' Alexander guessed.

Catching a subtle deep red on a broken branch above. 'Hmm, what's this?' Alexander stretched to touch it. Bringing his finger close to his face he examined. 'It's blood... I see.'

'If my guess is right, the attacker has no problem navigating through treetops while supporting the weight of a person. It explains the trail stopping and the markings on the tree.'

"One thing is for certain though. Whatever this is, it is definitely not a bear.'

Looking around and finding nothing else he turned back around and walked to the campsite. On his way back he thought of something that made him chuckle out loud. 'Imagine if the creature was actually trying to frame a bear for its crimes.' That idea was just funny to Alexander.

Walking back he walked past the two brothers who had just seen and heard him laugh.

Given the situation, there was nothing funny in sight for him to be laughing like he did. Needless to say, it wasn't helping their suspicion of him.

Returning to the campsite, Alexander noticed that the feeling of being watched was gone meaning there was no longer anyone watching them, which worried him more. Where had the creature gone and what was it planning?
