Chapter 84: The Uses of Transformation
General Ross soon received news from his subordinates that the giant ape had disappeared into the water. He also learned that America did not have any laboratories studying giant apes. Although there were labs studying monkeys, they were not working in the same direction.
Furious, General Ross vowed to capture and study Robert. He had no idea how to capture the giant ape, where it had gone, or even who it was, but he couldn't swallow his pride and let it go.
Unfortunately for General Ross, he was held responsible for the significant destruction caused in New York City by the battle between the Hulk and the Abomination.
After all, the Hulk had always been pursued by a team led by General Ross. The Abomination, originally one of Ross's soldiers, and the destruction he caused with the Hulk, naturally fell on General Ross to take responsibility for.
Moreover, if the Abomination were still alive, many people might have stood up for General Ross. But the problem was the Abomination was completely annihilated by the giant ape Robert, leaving not even ashes behind. The Super Magic Mouth Cannon had erased all traces of blood around the battlefield. Other than a few large craters and residual energy, there was hardly any sign of the fierce battle that had taken place.
The bloodstains in New York City were numerous, but it was difficult to extract any useful substances for research. Therefore, General Ross had to deal with pressure from all sides and didn't have time to focus on the escaped Robert and the Hulk...
However, while General Ross had no time to investigate Robert, Batman, who had returned home and taken off his battle suit, couldn't forget what happened that night. Not just Robert, but also the spells and shadow ninjas, the Hulk and the Abomination, and even the sudden appearance of the giant ape monster...
Batman didn't immediately associate Robert with the giant ape monster, but he did have such suspicions.
If such extraordinary events had occurred in Gotham City, Batman couldn't think of a way to resolve them. So, he began to contemplate how to deal with so many extraordinary events...
On the other hand, Robert returned to the Kent farm and was intercepted by Kara before he could land. Kara looked at Robert with a frown and a hint of red light in her eyes, seemingly very angry, and asked, "How did you get hurt? Who did this?"
"It's not a very serious injury. A few days of rest should do... Speaking of which, it's almost dawn. Are you still up or did you just wake up?" Robert moved his left arm, which was already able to move normally, but he knew he couldn't engage in another intense battle just yet.
Although Robert's newly awakened transformation ability allowed him to temporarily regain mobility after transforming, it did not heal his injuries upon reverting back. This made Robert plan to study this new power in depth.
"Hmph! You guys keep running out one after the other, how could I sleep? Tell me, what exactly happened..." Kara asked with a bit of dissatisfaction.
"It's not much, just fought a few battles..." Robert shrugged and briefly told Kara about what happened that night. But before he could finish, both he and Kara turned their heads to look at the sky, as Clark appeared there.
"Pfft!" Both Robert and Kara laughed when they saw Clark's attire. Clark was dressed in black from head to toe, with only his eyes visible. It wasn't just one pair of eyes, but two separate holes poked for each eye...
"Clark, your way of hiding your identity is really unique!" Robert said admiringly.
"Yeah, no ordinary person could recognize you. But those two eye holes, did you burn them out with your heat vision?" Kara teased.
"How did you do it?" Originally planning to question Robert, Clark helplessly flashed away and returned in a different outfit, asking curiously, "Can you teach me this trick?"
"You mean the transformation ability?" Robert raised an eyebrow. He transformed into Clark's appearance and then pondered, "To be honest, I'm not quite sure how I suddenly awakened this ability. But after awakening, it's like a natural talent. I just need a thought to complete the transformation, and it doesn't even use my own strength..."
It's worth noting that when Robert used the transformation ability, there was no smoke or sound. He simply and quietly morphed into the target object.
"Ah? How did you turn into Clark?" Kara was startled to see Robert transform into Clark and curiously asked the Clark-looking Robert.
"Change back first!" Clark, uncomfortable seeing an identical version of himself, asked.
"Oh..." Robert immediately transformed back into himself and continued, "When I transform, my injuries temporarily disappear. But when I revert, the injuries return to me. I can't even transform into an uninjured version of myself..."
"When you transformed into me, your body's strength didn't change. It seems that no matter what you transform into, your body's strength remains the same... except for the giant ape!" Clark also helped Robert analyze.
"Hm? Right, when I turned into a fish, it was after becoming a giant ape. But my body's strength didn't stay at the giant ape level. That means the transformation ability is based on my normal strength, so it can't help me compress the strength of the giant ape into my normal state..." Robert mused, recalling Clark's reminder.
"So, this transformation ability, apart from helping me hide my identity, doesn't seem to have much use... Maybe I can change size based on the opponent's size during a fight?"
"That's not useful? At least I don't have to worry about you exposing your identity when you go out. But I'm worried that now you have this ability, you'll be even more reckless and get killed in battle..." Although Clark was somewhat envious of Robert's transformation ability, he quickly felt that it might not be a good thing for Robert to have it.
"Wait, what's this about becoming a giant ape? Why didn't you tell me about that part?" Kara didn't care whether the transformation ability was useful. She was more concerned about Robert becoming a giant ape, as she guessed it might be related to Robert's tail.
"Alright, let me show you!" Robert shrugged and instantly stimulated the cells in his body. His body swelled with the wind, transforming into the giant ape Robert.
"So rough... so ugly!" Kara couldn't help but criticize upon seeing the thick tail of the giant ape Robert. This giant ape's tail was not as cute as Robert's original tail at all!
