Superman's Saiyan little brother

Chapter 484: Chapter 484: The Black Symbiote

"Hopefully..." Hearing Kara's words rekindled a glimmer of hope in Peter Parker's heart. After all, the abilities that Robert had demonstrated previously were quite trustworthy. With JARVIS unable to obtain any effective data, perhaps the only one they could rely on was Robert.

Moreover, aside from Robert, Peter Parker didn't know anyone else who could help him. If even Robert couldn't find a solution, Peter didn't believe there was anyone else who could. If it came to that, Peter would have no choice but to accept his fate.

However, there was a small sense of relief in Peter's heart. Even without his "Qi" training, he was still stronger than before, not entirely reverting to an ordinary person.

"Whoosh!" Just as Peter Parker was lost in the tumult of his thoughts, Robert appeared within the Avengers' base. He hadn't taken long to arrive, as Kara had indicated Peter's situation seemed quite serious.

"Hmm?" As soon as Robert arrived, he focused on Peter Parker. He could clearly sense that Peter was much stronger than when they last parted, which was in stark contrast to Kara's description of Peter losing his thunder powers and being unable to sense his "Qi".

Furthermore, Robert could detect that Peter's life force was now far more vigorous than before. Previously, Peter's strength was decent, but in terms of life force, he wasn't much stronger than a super soldier, just stepping into the extraordinary level. Now, it was different; Peter's life force was so abundant it seemed almost inhuman, as if a primal beast lurked within him, fully integrated with his being.

"Did something happen to you after you left that day?" Robert furrowed his brow and asked Peter. "Tell me about everything that happened, not just on the day you left but every day since."

"I didn't encounter anything unusual after that day..." Peter hesitated for a moment but eventually explained honestly, "It was the morning after you all left that I noticed something different. At first, I didn't realize anything was wrong with my thunder powers. I wasn't acting as Spider-Man; I was planning to take a break."

"As for the day I left, I went to see Wade. He predicted that you would kick him out during lunch, so he gave me his contact information, hoping to get the base's location from me."

"Due to some misunderstandings, we didn't part on good terms, and I haven't seen him since. I didn't tell him where the base was."

"After leaving Wade's place, I felt some changes in my body but was too tired to care and went home to sleep. The next day, I came to JARVIS for a checkup and found I was stronger. At first, I didn't think much of it until I met Pietro and Kara, who prompted me to test my abilities and realize I had lost my thunder powers."

As Peter spoke, his brow furrowed deeply. He realized that if he had been as eager to improve his strength as he had been after the Richard Parker and Spider-Man events, he would have tested his new capabilities immediately. It didn't make sense for him to return to school and continue his regular life without examining his powers.

Without Kara's reminder, Peter might not have noticed the loss of his thunder powers. This made him wonder if he was being controlled again.

Upon reflection, however, Peter couldn't identify any other anomalies in his behavior besides not exploring his strength. It was puzzling; who would control him just to make him neglect his powers?

"So, it's been this many days?" Robert's expression grew solemn after hearing Peter's account. Although Peter's current condition wasn't overtly alarming, the fact that Kara and the others noticed something was amiss indicated that Peter was undergoing some sort of change.

Moreover, the subtle nature of these changes suggested that whatever was influencing Peter was deeply concealed, posing a significant threat the longer it remained undiscovered.

"Peter seems to be in real danger," Pietro muttered worriedly, noticing the same thing. Unlike minor misfortunes, this was potentially life-threatening, and as Peter's friend, Pietro was genuinely concerned.

"Can you help?" Tony Stark, who had taken a moment to listen, frowned and looked to Robert for answers.

"I need to investigate thoroughly," Robert replied, his tone serious. He approached Peter, releasing all his sensory abilities to scan Peter's condition.

"Hiss!" Peter suddenly gasped as Robert's probing triggered his spider-sense, signaling a massive threat from Robert himself. Instinctively, Peter leapt away from Robert, not wanting him to get any closer.

"Huh?!" The Avengers were taken aback by Peter's sudden reaction, watching as he jumped away from Robert with a look of dread.

However, they quickly formed a protective circle around Peter and Robert, ready to intervene. They instinctively guarded Peter more, knowing that if Robert were truly the problem, even all of them together wouldn't stand a chance against him.

"Uh, sorry, it was just a reflex. My spider-sense seemed to malfunction..." Peter explained awkwardly, but midway through, he realized something was wrong.

Peter's spider-sense had gone haywire before. When he first got his powers, meeting Robert and Kara had triggered intense reactions, making him avoid them. Over time, he learned to control his abilities, and Robert and Kara became familiar, no longer triggering his spider-sense.

However, Peter's recent leap away from Robert indicated that his spider-sense was no longer under his control.

"Am I really being controlled again?" Peter's face fell, his voice tinged with frustration and self-mockery. "I used to think I could find a way to avoid being controlled, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon."

"This time is different from the last," Robert reassured. "At least you're still conscious and in control of your body. This suggests that whatever is influencing you isn't as powerful as before."

"It's just hiding well. Don't worry; I'll find it soon. Stay calm. Last time, you were controlled by that spider creature because your powers came from it, leaving you defenseless. But this time, you're Spider-Man, New York's beloved hero. Surely, you have the will to fight back?"

"Right! I can't let myself be controlled so easily!" Peter's resolve was reignited by Robert's words. As Spider-Man, he couldn't afford to be so vulnerable.

Seeing Peter regain his fighting spirit, Robert nodded in approval and approached him again. This time, Peter's spider-sense still flared, but he used his willpower to suppress the reaction, staying still for Robert's investigation.

"Hmm?!" As Peter's determination grew, the abnormalities in his body became more apparent. Robert sensed a powerful life force awakening within Peter, the likely source of his influence.

With this newfound clarity, Robert swiftly locked onto the life force and unleashed his mental and soul powers, capturing it on the spot.

Robert wasn't sure what kind of entity this life force belonged to, but he knew it was a living being with a consciousness, unlikely to escape his dual-pronged spiritual assault.

"Buzz!" As Robert's power enveloped the life force, Peter's body began to tremble, and black, oily substances seeped from his pores. These tar-like materials were somewhere between solid and liquid, even more unsettling than the shadows consumed by the Shadow Soldiers earlier.

However, Robert recognized a resemblance to a similar life form he'd seen before, albeit with vastly different strength and aura. The black substance resembled the living form of Majin Buu, though not nearly as formidable or aesthetically comparable.

"Whoosh!" As the black substance fully exited Peter's body, it tried to leap at Robert, but it was held back by his mental and soul barriers.

This confirmed to Robert that the creature was primarily a physical entity that had hidden within Peter due to its pervasive abilities and mobility, evading even JARVIS's thorough scans.

"Slap!" The black symbiote collided with the invisible barrier but didn't become dazed like the demons or shadow generals earlier. Being malleable, the impact didn't faze it much.

"Please! Don't kill me! I mean no harm!" The black symbiote pleaded, sensing the danger. "I didn't harm Peter Parker. I was just symbiotically living within him. It's a trait of our species!"

Peter, still processing the sudden revelation, looked at the pleading symbiote with a mix of confusion and relief. It was a strange turn of events, but at least now they had something concrete to deal with.
