Chapter 6: Scroll of sealing

Mizuki: "There's a scroll that records some of the most powerful ninjutsu in the village. If you can get your hands on it and learn the techniques, you'll pass the graduation exam easily."

Naruto: "Really? Where is it?"

Mizuki: "It's kept at the Third Hokage's house."

Naruto: "How am I supposed to get it? The Third Hokage is the strongest ninja in the village!"

Mizuki: "Well… you're always pulling pranks, aren't you? Think of this as just another one. Sneak in quietly at night, and if you get caught, just talk your way out of it. You've done that before, right?"

Naruto had pulled pranks before, but this was different. This wasn't just a childish stunt—it was serious. If the Third Hokage caught him, even if he didn't act immediately, he'd surely use the Telescope Technique to investigate. And if Naruto was found with a copied scroll from the Hokage's private collection, the consequences would be severe.

Naruto: "Mizuki-sensei, you're so strong. Couldn't you help me by distracting the Third Hokage? If you do that, it'll be easier for me to get the scroll."

Mizuki paused, caught off guard. Naruto was usually impulsive and reckless—why was he thinking so carefully now? Just last week, this kid had painted the Hokage Monument!

Naruto: "Mizuki-sensei? You'll help me, right? You want me to pass the exam, don't you?"

Mizuki: "Ah… of course, I want you to pass."

Mizuki cursed inwardly. Who cares if you pass? Once you steal the Forbidden Scroll, you won't be graduating—you'll be thrown in jail. No, you won't even make it that far. Once I get the scroll, I'll kill you and make it look like you did it yourself.

Mizuki: "Hmm… let me think… Oh, I know! I can ask the Third Hokage to take a group photo with the graduating students. While everyone's busy at the ninja school, you can sneak in and steal the scroll. How does that sound?"

Naruto: "But when will the photo be taken?"

Mizuki: "This afternoon. You'll need to be quick and precise. Grab the scroll and run. You're good at transformation, right? Use it to disguise yourself. It's daytime, so it'll be easier."

Naruto: "Okay."

Mizuki then explained more about the scroll.

Mizuki: "Remember, the scroll is called the Sealing Scroll, and it has green edges. It should be easy to spot."

Naruto: "Got it, Mizuki-sensei. I'll remember."

Mizuki: "Good. Wait for my signal."

As Mizuki left, Naruto thought to himself, This is going to be interesting.

By morning, the graduation exams had concluded.

At noon, Mizuki met Naruto at the agreed-upon location. Mizuki: "At one o'clock, the graduation photo will be taken. That's when you make your move."

Naruto: "Got it! Thank you, Mizuki-sensei. I wouldn't be able to graduate without your help."

Mizuki: "Do your best. Once you learn the techniques on that scroll, you'll definitely graduate."

Naruto: "Okay."

Point me? Don't underestimate me… Do you really think I can't learn the techniques on that scroll?

As Mizuki walked away, he finally understood the meaning behind Naruto's words. Naruto wasn't as naive as he seemed.

1:00 PM

The Third Hokage arrived at the ninja school as planned.

Iruka: "Everyone, gather around! The Third Hokage will take a photo with the graduating students."

The twenty-seven students who had passed the exam hurried over.

Iruka scanned the group, looking for Naruto. He was worried—Naruto was the only one who had failed the exam this year.

Third Hokage: "Iruka, come join us for the photo."

Iruka: "Yes, sir!"

As everyone gathered for the photo, Mizuki stood to the side. He was just a teaching assistant, not a full-fledged teacher. He had been demoted after killing a comrade to complete a mission. But he didn't regret it—as a ninja, shouldn't you do whatever it takes to achieve your goals?

Mizuki glanced toward the Third Hokage. By now, that idiot Naruto should be making his move. I hope he's smart enough to pull this off. Once I get the scroll, I'm leaving Konoha for good. Let these fools keep laughing—I hope they enjoy it while it lasts.

Third Hokage: "Mizuki, come join the photo."

Mizuki: "Me?"

Meanwhile, while everyone's attention was on the graduation photo, Naruto quietly made his way to the Third Hokage's house.

He transformed into Konohamaru, who was currently asleep at home.

Naruto sneaked into the house through a window. If Konohamaru is here, is Ebisu-sensei around too? Naruto felt a wave of nervousness.

He slipped into Konohamaru's room and carefully opened the door. Peeking out, he saw no one. Konohamaru was sound asleep.

Naruto stepped out and gently closed the door behind him. The study… where is it? According to Mizuki, it should be around here…

As he passed the bathroom, he heard sounds inside. It was Ebisu, complaining about something Konohamaru had given him. From the sound of it, Ebisu was suffering from diarrhea.

Naruto took a deep breath. If this works, I'll have to thank Konohamaru later.

Not knowing when Ebisu would come out, Naruto quickened his pace. He finally reached the Third Hokage's study.

The room was filled with scrolls of all kinds, neatly stacked on shelves. Green edges, Sealing Scroll… where are you?

Found it! Naruto couldn't believe how easily he'd located such an important scroll. He grabbed it and found a hidden corner in the study to begin copying its contents.

The first technique listed was the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu. Naruto skimmed through the scroll, his heart racing as he saw other techniques: the Eight Gates, Spirit Transformation, Leaf Style Swordsmanship, Exploding Tags, Reanimation Jutsu, Resurrection…

Each technique made Naruto's heart skip a beat. These were Konoha's most guarded secrets.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps. Ebisu was coming out of the bathroom! Naruto panicked. He was almost done copying the scroll, but now he had to hide—fast.

Just then, Kurama's voice echoed in his mind: "Kid, take the scroll and leave! I'll grant you any power you want!"
