Chapter 11: Ghost butterfly and Dongxuan sutra
I transferred all 14 of my mutant phantom ant devil souls to her, her reaction was really beautiful.
"Where did you get so many mutant armor devil souls of the same alien and isn't it the mutant version of your crystal armor? And these armors are also very beautiful just by their look." She looked at me with shocked eyes and replied to me, her voice filled with a mix of surprise and curiosity.
"Yes, they are," I said with a slight smile, recalling the intense battle I had with the ants. "I destroyed a nest of them, and there were many mutant phantom ants there. I also wanted to sell the mutant meat of them, but we have to go there as I have hidden it near the ant nest. The nest was huge, with thousands of ants, and it took me hours to clear it out."
"Ok, give me the location and I will send someone there, and after calculating the amount, I will pay you the best price," she said, her business-like tone returning.
After that, I gave her the location and after chatting for a while, I teleported back to the alliance and went straight to my house. The familiar surroundings and comfortable furniture were a welcome change from the bustling city. Mom and Han Yan both went out to the market for shopping, so I am alone at home right now. I took this opportunity to accomplish what I came here for and decided to take the thing that I came here for and go back to the sanctuary.
I made my way to my room, feeling a mix of nostalgia and determination. I approached my drawer, opening it with a sense of purpose. Inside lay a dusty old box, its corners worn and faded. As I carefully lifted the lid, a single object rested within—a nine-life cat pendant. This pendant, a family heirloom, had once belonged to my mother, and I had taken it from her years ago, feeling an inexplicable connection to it even then. Now, as I prepared for my journey, it seemed only fitting that I take it with me. The pendant felt cool against my skin.

Once I returned to the sanctuary, I stepped out from my temporary shelter and made my way towards the infamous Devil Desert. My objective was straightforward yet challenging: to acquire the Dongxuan Sutra, a legendary Sutra that was said to confer immense power to its possessor. In original story Han Sen had discovered this coveted sutra within the depths of the Ghost Butterfly Cave. I hoped this journey would provide dual benefits, as my plan was not only to obtain the sutra but also to harness the beast souls of the Ghost Butterflies that inhabited the cave.
The arid landscape stretched out before me as I navigated through the grueling heat of the desert. The sun beat down relentlessly, but my mind was set on the goal ahead. Upon arriving at the entrance of the underground cave, I could feel the atmosphere change around me. An eerie chill replaced the desert heat, and a sense of anticipation built within. It was time to summon my golden armor. The moment the armor enveloped me, I felt a surge of confidence.
Stepping into the cave, shadows danced around me, and I soon found myself surrounded by the ethereal glow of countless Ghost Butterflies. Their wings shimmered like delicate glass, yet I knew how deadly they could be. I braced myself as I advanced deeper into their territory. As the butterflies began to make contact with my golden armor, they burst into a display of brilliant light and energy—a brief, beautiful end to their chaotic existence. I could hear the familiar sound of the system's announcement echoing in the cave, counting each successful defeat.
As I ventured further into the depths of the cave, The air was thick with humidity, and each step echoed softly against the damp stone walls. The only sounds were the occasional dripping of water from stalactites above and the faint rustle of my own footsteps. I had already encountered various primitive and mutant class butterflies in my journey, but none posed a significant threat to me—almost as if I had developed an immunity to their attacks. Their unique abilities, while interesting, were insufficient to inflict any real damage.
I had encountered the Sacred Blood Ghost Butterflies, ethereal creatures that seemed to glow with an unsettling beauty, but even they could only manage minimal harm against my formidable defenses. After a series of encounters, I successfully defeated several of these Ghost Butterflies, collecting a total of four of their devil souls. Each soul pulsed with an eerie energy.
With my newfound trophies secured in my possession, I pressed onward, my resolve unwavering. The cave stretched before me like an endless labyrinth, twisting and winding, with shadows that danced along the walls in an almost hypnotic manner. As I moved deeper, the faint traces of bioluminescence began to illuminate my surroundings.
Then, amidst all this, I finally came across what I had been searching for—the skeleton. It loomed ahead, an imposing figure that emerged from the gloom. The remnants of its once-majestic structure were clad in tattered clothes, and its bones appeared strangely preserved, glistening faintly in the minimal light. The sight was both awe-inspiring and ominous, as if the very essence of the cave had pooled around this skeleton, embedding it within a shroud of forgotten history.
