Chapter 115: Destroyer
Sif and the Warriors Three looked at each other, their expressions serious. "We get you back where you belong," Volstagg said confidently. "It's time, Thor."
Thor's eyes softened, but he still seemed conflicted. "But Loki... he said so many things. I can't just ignore it."
"I may have not kill him, but he fell into sleep right?" he said sighing.
Dave, who had been listening from the back of the room, stepped forward, his calm demeanor contrasting with the tension in the air. "Loki is a liar, Thor. You should know that better than anyone. His words carry no weight."
"What are you doing here?" Thor asked, narrowing his eyes.
"You didn't think we'd just let you roam free, did you?" Dave replied, his tone calm but assertive. Thor and the others looked at him, a mixture of curiosity and surprise on their faces.
Before the conversation could continue, Natasha's voice cut through their exchange. "Dave, something else has come up, and this time, it's hostile." She had just received intel moments ago about a large black robot attacking the SHIELD agents sent to confront it.
"I guess Loki noticed you all coming here," Dave said, glancing at Sif and the Warriors Three. "And now he plans to keep you all stuck here."
"A big black robot?" Sif asked, her expression shifting to concern. "That must be the Destroyer, one of Odin's creations. It's an artifact of immense power, capable of laying waste to entire realms."
Dave raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. "If one robot is enough to destroy realms, then those realms must be overrated," he said dryly.
Sif shook her head, clarifying, "It's not just any robot. The Destroyer is made of Uru metal—a magical alloy that can only be damaged by a combination of powerful magic and immense physical might. If either element falls short, there will be no damage to the metal."
Thor added with a hint of regret, "I could easily defeat it in my normal state, but now..." He sighed deeply before continuing, "Please, leave all of you. It's coming for me."
Sif and the Warriors Three exchanged glances before Volstagg stepped forward, his voice booming with determination. "Don't worry, Thor. We may not be as strong as you, but we are warriors of Asgard. We don't back down from a fight!"
The others nodded in agreement, their resolve evident.
Dave smirked and cracked his knuckles, a white translucent glow beginning to envelop his hands. "Let's see if this 'Destroyer' lives up to its reputation. Might be entertaining."
Natasha shook her head seeing this,
Thor, however, stepped in front of him and said . "No, it's coming for me, and I'll confront it," he declared. "I don't need your help," he said, his tone firm as he addressed Dave.
Dave shrugged, his smirk unwavering. "Alright, but if things go south, I'm stepping in," he replied casually. Thor gave a brief nod of acknowledgment before turning his focus back to the matter at hand.
The group exited the house, their eyes scanning the horizon. A deep, resonant thudding sound echoed closer and closer, each step of the massive figure shaking the ground slightly. Soon, the Destroyer appeared—a towering, menacing figure of black Uru metal, moving steadily toward them.
"Is that the Destroyer?" Natasha asked, her voice steady despite the sight.
Sif nodded gravely. "Yes. Mortals, you should leave now. If you stay, you will surely die," she warned.
Natasha didn't even glance at Sif, her gaze locked onto the advancing behemoth. "Would you believe me if I said I could turn into a much bigger robot than that?" Dave quipped, leaning slightly toward Natasha.
Natasha gave a curt nod. "Yes, I would," she said without hesitation.
Dave blinked, momentarily caught off guard. "No fun," he muttered, a faint chuckle escaping as he realized how quickly she'd taken him seriously.
Dave smirked slightly, his thoughts drifting as he observed the approaching Destroyer. Having perfected the Armor Armor Fruit after combining it with other Devil Fruits in the One Piece world, he now had unparalleled control over its abilities. He could create over 30 variations of his armor effortlessly.
"Though," he mumbled to himself, "I don't think I'll need that to fight this guy." His gaze narrowed as he recalled Sif's words about the Destroyer requiring both immense physical and magical might to be defeated.
"I wonder how it stacks up against my Molecule Molecule Fruit," he mused, his confidence unwavering as he continued to observe the behemoth.
Thor took a deep breath, his expression tense as he addressed the group. "We need to evacuate the town."
Natasha shook her head, her voice calm yet firm. "We already have."
"you guys can now stop acting and go" She said as the civilians running around in panic stopped and then just nodding at her begin to leave.
The streets, once filled with panicked civilians, were now eerily empty except for Thor, his Asgardian allies, Jane, Selvig, Darcy, Dave, and Natasha.
"We evacuated the moment we sensed these four arriving," Natasha added, motioning to Sif and the Warriors Three. "We figured you'd all start fighting sooner or later."
From above, Hawkeye descended from his perch, landing gracefully. "So, who's this guy now?" Thor asked, looking at Dave.
Dave shrugged casually. "Last night, when you were trying to lift the hammer, you were at his gunpoint," he said, earning a puzzled look from Thor.
Before the conversation could continue, Volstagg interrupted with a loud shout. "He's here!" The massive warrior charged at the Destroyer with his axe raised. However, the towering metal behemoth swatted him away effortlessly, sending him crashing into a pile of rubble.
"Volstagg!" Sif cried out, rushing with the other Warriors to pull him free from the debris.
Thor stepped forward, his voice heavy with determination. "No, you all need to go. This is my fight. He's here for me."
Jane looked on in distress, her worry palpable. "What is he doing?" she asked, her voice trembling. "He's powerless now. He can't fight that thing!"
Selvig placed a hand on her shoulder, his expression just as concerned but more restrained. "Thor knows what he's doing... or at least I hope he does," he said, glancing nervously at the massive robot.
