Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 164 - 164 Sky Star Slope

Chapter 164: Chapter 164 Sky Star Slope

Humans call this area Sky Star Slope because it is covered with steel plants resembling the shape of Sky Star Grass.

However, such plants usually grow on the sides of cliffs.

The terrain of the Sky Star Slope is very peculiar, with bottomless, fog-shrouded canyons on both sides. Only a slope about ten meters wide extends to the other side of the canyon at an angle of thirty or forty degrees, undeniably making the climb from below much harder than from above.

On the other side of the Sky Star Slope lies a horseshoe-shaped mountain, with steep terrain and vertical cliffs, as if cleaved with a knife.

In such a dead-end location, if war truly broke out, those trapped on top without food or drink would face only death.

But Bai Shenfei and her team didn’t need to hold out for too long; they just had to endure for the remaining two days, after which they could safely teleport back. Therefore, for them, this place was an excellent natural defense.

After everyone rushed up to Sky Star Slope, Bai Shenfei immediately directed each squad to prepare for rotation in combat. As long as they held this slope, they could rest easy.

The first wave of the assault was bound to be the fiercest. Bai Shenfei originally intended to have her own squad defend the first round, but Ouyang Yudu volunteered to lead his squad in holding Sky Star Slope.

Bai Shenfei accepted Ouyang Yudu’s request. He took his team to the best combat position, and under his command, every Mutator summoned a variety of pets, sealing off the approach to Sky Star Slope.

Lin Shen and Wei Wufu were responsible for setting up tents on Horseshoe Mountain behind, preparing a place for rest and treatment for the combatants and pets when they fell back.

Bai Shenfei had not assigned them to a combat group, and although Lin Shen thought Wei Wufu would be quite angry, to his surprise, Wei Wu simply set up the tents in silence, showing no sign of discontent.

“Wei, she didn’t let you join the battle. Are you really not angry?” Lin Shen nudged Wei Wufu with his elbow and quietly said.

“War is not, a one person’s task,” said Wei Wufu calmly, continuing his work without pause.

Lin Shen did not work with the same focus as Wei Wufu, his eyes frequently glancing in the direction of Sky Star Slope. He only saw that Ouyang Yudu’s squad’s pets were divided into groups, also ready to take turns defending.

The slope at Sky Star Slope was only so wide; however many pets there were, they couldn’t be spread out any further.

What surprised Lin Shen was that Ouyang Yudu was still standing in front of the pets, alone facing the Ultra-Burn Warriors charging up on big black bulls below.

“This Ouyang Yudu really loves to show off,” Lin Shen said with a smile.

“Charging into battle, momentum, suppression,” Wei Wufu added.

Lin Shen of course knew that Ouyang Yudu was aiming to give the Ultra-Burning Corps a severe blow, directly suppressing their momentum so that the subsequent defense would be much easier.

But the Ultra-Burning Corps’ first charge would definitely not consist of ordinary Ultra-Burn Warriors. Such an action was fraught with grave danger; Lin Shen would not have taken that risk himself.

Indeed, Lin Shen saw among the Ultra-Burn Warriors charging below, the two leading ones wore red Battle Clothes and rode big Red Bulls. It was unclear whether they were deputy corps leaders or if a corps leader had led the charge himself, although the likelihood of the former seemed higher.

Charging up Sky Star Slope, their speed was visibly slower compared to on flat terrain. Although Ouyang Yudu had archers capable of long-range attack, he did not give the order to shoot arrows. Instead, he just watched the Ultra-Burn Warriors rush toward him.

Leading the charge, the two red-clothed Ultra-Burn Warriors exchanged a glance and almost simultaneously pulled out their Pet Launchers. They furiously opened fire on Ouyang Yudu, their pets leaping forward with speed far exceeding their charge.

In an instant, more than a dozen Crystal Base pets charged at Ouyang Yudu and his group, with a faint smile appearing at the corner of Ouyang Yudu’s mouth.

The next second, everyone saw Ouyang Yudu spring into action, transitioning from absolute stillness to extreme motion in an instant, leaving a trail of afterimages. For a moment, Ouyang Yudu seemed to multiply into several people, meeting the onrush of the Crystal Base pets head-on.

Lin Shen had to admit that Ouyang Yudu was indeed formidable. With more than a dozen Crystal Base pets pouncing on him, he met their advance without even using his Base Mutation Carapace.

Before seeing Ouyang Yudu make his move, Lin Shen had always thought that the technique of using an opponent’s strength against them was merely a stroke of genius in combat and not a mainstay skill.

Because the process of using an opponent’s force against them was too complex, it was not possible to respond continuously and efficiently to high-speed attacks, making it practically useless.

But Ouyang Yudu shattered that notion for Lin Shen. Ouyang moved like a willow in the wind, his hands coiling and pulling. In the blink of an eye, he deflected each of the Crystal Base pets, sending them tumbling into the deep abyss on both sides.

“Wow, this guy really has something!” Lin Shen couldn’t help but exclaim.

He had seen clearly that Ouyang Yudu’s skill was indeed ingenious, his speed was astoundingly fast, and his mind equally sharp.

He had seized the moment right after the dozen or so Crystal Base pets had been launched by the Pet Launcher, while the force propelling them was still in effect, and they were helplessly charging forward. Ouyang simply deflected them down, giving them no chance to react.

This was a feat that could be achieved only with exceptionally strong comprehensive abilities, not just by being strong in one aspect.

Seeing Ouyang Yudu effortlessly toss more than a dozen Crystal Base pets into the deep abyss, the spirits of the Mutators soared.

Two red-clad Ultra-Burn Warriors below, upon witnessing this, leapt from Big Red Bull’s back. Wielding Red Crystal Battle Axes with unparalleled ferocity, they struck from midair at Ouyang Yudu, intending to capture the king first in the face of the enemy.

Lin Shen watched Ouyang Yudu with great interest, halting his own actions. He wanted to see how Ouyang would handle such a situation.

Standing at a vantage point and orchestrating the situation, Bai Shenfei thought to herself as she noticed Lin Shen’s attention on Ouyang Yudu, “Just watch closely and see what the difference is between ‘Talent Theory’ and ‘Evolution Theory’. Will you regret your original choice? Will you regret not having persisted a little longer?”

As the two red-clad Ultra-Burn Warriors, wielding their huge axes, came slashing through the air, the Crystal Base Carapace appeared on Ouyang Yudu’s body.

The crystal-clear armor, resembling white jade, enveloped his entire body. The mysterious patterns on the armor, like clouds and fog, made him look like a celestial general clad in Jade Armor and helmet.

Ouyang Yudu stood at the front of his formation, motionless, while the two Red Crystal Battle Axes sliced through the air, one to his left and one to his right, as if they intended to slash his body in a crisscross pattern.

Just as the axes were about to hit Ouyang Yudu, the raging battle axes suddenly came to a halt.

Ouyang Yudu had grabbed each axe by the blade, stopping their chopping momentum dead in its tracks.

Crack!

The battle axes, made of Crystal Base material, were crushed to bits by the grip of Ouyang Yudu’s fingers.

“Goodbye,” said Ouyang Yudu with a gentle farewell, as he swiftly passed between the two red-clad Ultra-Burn Warriors.

Blood spurted, as both red-clad Ultra-Burn Warriors had their armor and hearts pierced simultaneously, but an ordinary person couldn’t even see how Ouyang Yudu had made his move.
