SUMMONER'S JOURNEY

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Settling In and First Mission

Richard had officially settled into Magnolia, but his house was still missing a lot of essentials.

For the next three days, he focused on making his house livable, getting used to life in Magnolia, and preparing for his first mission.

At first, he thought he could just buy everything in one trip.

He was wrong.

Magnolia's shopping district was massive, and he had to visit multiple shops just to find what he needed.

His first stop was a general store, a medium-sized shop with shelves stacked high with household goods. An elderly woman with sharp eyes and a keen business sense ran the store, and Richard could tell immediately that she wasn't someone to haggle with.

As he walked through the aisles, he picked up:

✔ Bedsheets, blankets, and pillows (because sleeping on a bare mattress wasn't fun).

✔ A set of towels (because hygiene mattered).

✔ A few decorative items (his house felt too empty).

The shop owner, Madam Lora, observed him curiously.

"You're new here, aren't you?" she asked, eyeing him over the rim of her glasses.

Richard nodded. "Yeah, just moved in recently."

She smirked. "I can always tell. Newcomers always buy the essentials in bulk."

Richard chuckled. "That obvious, huh?"

She nodded sagely. "You're from Fairy Tail, right?"

Richard raised an eyebrow. "How did you know?"

"Only Fairy Tail members move in and spend half their money on repairs or replacements after they break something," she said with a laugh.

Richard sighed. "That… sounds about right."

After purchasing his items and stuffing them into his spatial ring, he continued exploring the marketplace.

At one point, he accidentally walked into a luxury magic store and nearly passed out after seeing the prices.

With his first day of shopping done, Richard headed home to set up his room and prepare for tomorrow's errands.

---

The next day, Richard's focus was magic-powered utilities.

His first stop was Flare's Mystic Emporium, a small shop that specialized in magic-enhanced household items.

As he entered, a cheerful shopkeeper greeted him.

"Welcome to Flare's Mystic Emporium! Need anything enchanted today?"

Richard browsed through the shelves, fascinated by the range of magical home devices.

After some careful thought, he just bought A magic water heater (because cold baths were not an option)and A magic stove.

For now he doesn't want anything else.

He also came across a self-cleaning dish set, but after checking the price tag—100,000J—he decided that his hands still worked just fine.

After finishing his purchases, he returned home to install his new appliances, which took longer than expected since he had to read instruction scrolls for each one.

By the third day, Richard realized something important.

He couldn't afford to eat out every day.

Even though the guild's meals were cheap, it still added up quickly.

So, he went to South Magnolia Market to purchase , A cooking set (pots, pans, knives, and utensils) and some Basic ingredients (rice, flour, vegetables, meat, spices).

At the meat stall, an old butcher raised an eyebrow at him. "New customer?"

"Yeah, just moved in a few days ago," Richard replied.

The butcher nodded. "Well, if you're from Fairy Tail, you'll need a lot of protein to keep up with your training. Try this deal—fresh beast meat, lean cuts, and some enchanted spice packs for a discount."

Richard appreciated the generous offer and accepted.

After stuffing everything into his spatial ring, he let out a relieved sigh.

"Finally done. Now I just need to take a mission… otherwise, I won't be able to afford to live here."

--

That evening, Richard sat at the mission board, staring at the requests.

There were plenty of jobs available, but…

He had no idea which one to take.

As he debated, the guild was as chaotic as ever.

Someone threw a table.

Someone else started a drinking contest.

A bet was made about whether Elfman could lift a keg barrel with his teeth.

Richard sighed. "How does anyone focus here?"

Realizing he needed help, he approached Mirajane at the bar.

"Mira, I need help picking my first mission."

Mirajane smiled warmly. "Of course! Since it's your first time, I'd suggest teaming up with a senior member."

Richard nodded. "That makes sense… but who?"

Mirajane suddenly brightened.

"Oh! Gray just got back from a mission! He'd be perfect!"

Richard sighed internally.

"Gray, huh…"

He had already met Gray the day after he joined the guild, and at first, he thought a pervert had broken in.

Before Richard could respond, Mirajane called out.

"GRAY! COME HERE FOR A SECOND!"

Gray looked up from his drink and walked over.

"What is it?"

"Can you help Richard with his first mission?" Mirajane asked sweetly.

Gray glanced at Richard, then shrugged. "Ooh its you, Sure, why not?"

Richard sighed in relief. "Thanks. I appreciate it."

Mirajane handed them a mission request slip.

"This one should be perfect!"

First Mission: Monster Subjugation

Task:

Eliminate a Rampaging Boar that has been destroying Kiwi Village's orchards.

Commissioned By:

Kiwi Village, famous for its fruit farms.

Reward:

200,000 J

Richard read through the details. "A monster subjugation, huh?"

Gray nodded. "Rampaging Boars aren't too dangerous, but they have thick hide, so normal attacks don't work well. We'll need strong magic to take it down."

After discussing the mission details,

Gray stretched. "Alright, we'll meet at the Southern Gate tomorrow morning. I'll handle the carriage booking since you're new here."

Richard nodded. "Got it. I'll prepare tonight."

As he left the guild, Richard felt both excitement and nervousness.

"My first mission as a Fairy Tail wizard… Here we go."
