STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer

Chapter 184: A fierce fight inside the passage

Time passed,

Jeremy was moving carefully in the underground passage. He finally felt he was safe. The beast-repellent odor worked wonders.

Screech!

Just as he was halfway down the passage, he heard the scream again. The rat beast's scream was not decreasing but increasing.

He realized that the scream was getting closer.

Swoosh!

Jeremy held his katana tightly. He increased the illumination on the gadget. The bright light immediately covered the large path ahead.

Then he saw more than five Tier-2 Rat Beasts running toward him.

Seeing this, Jeremy's eyes flickered. He suspected these beasts were coming from other routes. Without fear, he began to confront the beasts.

Slash!

He slashed at the incoming beast with his katana. The blade went inside the skull, killing it instantly.

Pfff!

After killing it, Jeremy targeted the next incoming beasts.

Cut!

His blade went in a parabolic arc before slicing down the beast's body multiple times. In the blink of an eye, the rat beasts were all killed.

Their mutilated bodies dropped to the ground.

Jeremy didn't spare a glance before continuing to walk forward. He thought it was a coincidence that the rat beasts came to him despite having the odor of the beast repellent on his body.

Screech!

Not long after, another scream came. Jeremy paused his footsteps. He perked up his ears to listen to it one more time.

Screech!

He heard it. This time the sound was coming from behind. His expression changed drastically. He knew the caged beasts inside the warehouse.

"Don't tell me they were released," he thought.

He looked at the path ahead. He was already halfway down the passage. The next goal was the cross routes. Once he crossed that place, he would be safer.

Screech!

The rat beasts' noise sounded again. Jeremy knew it was impossible for the beasts to go back. There was only one way for them to leave, which was this underground passage.

Jeremy thought of an idea. He took the odor bottle out and sprayed it all over the passage. In the blink of an eye, he emptied the entire bottle, spraying the area around him.

He believed the beasts would hesitate to come from other sides. He just had to focus on one direction.

Then he turned around and started waiting for the beasts to come.

Screech!

It didn't take long before a number of Tier-2 Rat Beasts came into his sight. Jeremy tightened his grip on the handle.

Stab!

A rat beast leaped at him at high speed. He simply stabbed the beast in its head. The blade went inside the skull before ending its life.

Jeremy immediately withdrew the katana before swinging it at the beasts coming at him.

Puff!

The katana blade penetrated the beast's head before killing it. The blade in his hand danced before cutting the beast's body in two.

As time passed, the beasts' attacks seemed unstoppable. Jeremy raised his eyebrows.

Though it was not dangerous to him, he felt something was wrong. His heart urged him to leave this place right away.

Swoosh!

Jeremy began to move while attacking the beasts at the same time.

As time passed, the number of beasts attacking began to reduce. Jeremy thought the relentless assault was over.

Shortly afterward,

He reached the cross route, which led to different parts of the city. His eyes flashed with complicated emotions.

All of this was caused by humans, not beasts. He didn't know how the people would react if they heard the news.

People who could do something like this were not ordinary. He had experienced a similar situation before.

"Mighty Order," he thought.

He didn't know whether the same organization was responsible for this act. If it was another organization, he didn't know how to react.

People were being misled by the powerful organization in City A.

Screech!

Just as he was about to go back, he heard another sound again. His eyes flashed with anger.

"Not again," Jeremy muttered unwillingly.

He didn't know how many beasts he had killed under this illumination. He knew that if he hadn't killed those beasts, they would have caused havoc in the city.

Now, once again beasts were coming toward him. He decided to kill them as well.

Screech!

A huge rat beast appeared in his sight. The claws of the beast were stronger than those of the Tier-2 Rat Beasts. Not only that, the beast's body was huge and sturdier than that of the Tier-1 Rat Beasts.

"Tier-3," Jeremy's eyes turned solemnly.

He couldn't be more familiar with Tier-3 Rat Beasts; he had killed a Tier-3 Beast in his previous mission as well.

But here, there wasn't just one—there seemed to be more coming toward him as well. Jeremy's expression changed. He gripped the handle tightly before taking the initiative to attack.

Slice!

He evaded the sharp claws before slashing the sword downward. The katana blade went inside the beast's neck before severing it.

Pfff!

The blood sprayed on the ground. With that, the Tier-3 Rat Beast was killed in the end.

Jeremy targeted the neck because it was weak in defense compared to the rest of the body.

Otherwise, he would have to use the Starlight energy. The Starlight energy was his trump card, and he didn't want to waste it.

Screech!

One more Tier-3 Rat Beast appeared. Seeing this, Jeremy executed his attack. He applied the same tactic before severing the beast's neck.

Jeremy then collected his thoughts and looked at the passage. There were multiple screams before, but now there was no sound coming.

"What's going on?" Jeremy asked himself.

Earlier, he had felt something was wrong, but he didn't know how to pinpoint it.

Finally, he decided to leave. Not long after he walked a few meters, he sensed a feeling of crisis coming from behind.

Jeremy's intuition was always correct. If it was wrong, then there was something dangerous inside the passage.

Meanwhile,

The Tier-4 Rat Beast was having a feast. It had killed the Tier-3 Rat Beasts on its way. Only a few of them had slipped away.

After killing all these beasts, the Tier-4 Rat Beast was not calm. It was still enraged.
