{Chapter: 3 There is also an amazing database? !}
"Damn it, I really want to go home... If this is really Star Wars, I wouldn't even last a second against a terrifying Star Destroyer…"
Leo covered his forehead, his fingers pressing into his temples as a wave of unease settled over him. For a long moment, he remained silent, the initial thrill of discovering the legendary Kushan Mothership in reality rapidly fading into cold dread. What once seemed like a dream come true now felt more like a nightmare in the making.
Shaking himself from his thoughts, he exhaled sharply and forced himself to refocus.
"Alright, then," Leo muttered, steadying himself. "Qi Jian, my chief of staff—let's get down to business. Can you give me a count of our available defense forces?"
Qi Jian immediately straightened, stepping into his role with an air of confidence. "Currently, we have five Arrow-class reconnaissance aircraft and five Blade-class light fighters."
Leo kept his gaze fixed on him, his expression frozen in a polite smile. The room fell into an awkward silence. He waited. Then he kept waiting.
After an excruciating ten seconds, Leo's patience wore thin. His smile turned stiff as he gestured for Qi Jian to continue. "And?"
"...That's all we have," Qi Jian admitted hesitantly.
A beat of absolute silence followed.
Leo's eye twitched. Then, as realization hit him like a sledgehammer, he shot up from his seat as if someone had set fire to his chair.
"WHAT THE HELL?! THIS MOTHERSHIP CARRYING SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND PEOPLE IS PROTECTED BY FIVE SCOUT SHIPS AND FIVE FIGHTERS?!"
Qi Jian, caught off guard by the sudden outburst, instinctively flinched. He quickly lowered his head, scrambling for an explanation. "I-I'm sorry, Administrator! The navigation logs are completely wiped! We have no records of what happened during our voyage. But this is our current reality—these small spacecraft are the only protection we have at the moment."
Leo groaned and dragged a hand down his face. This was worse than he had expected.
"Selene," he said, slumping back into his chair, "pull up the specs for these so-called reconnaissance planes and fighters. I want to see just how 'capable' they are. Hopefully, they have at least the performance of an Infinite Destiny Gundam or something, right?"
A holographic projection flickered to life before him, displaying a small, triangular spaceship with a distinctly unimpressive design. Selene's voice chimed in.
[This is the Arrow-class reconnaissance aircraft. It measures 9.5 meters in length. It lacks hyperspace jump capabilities and cannot perform atmospheric combat. The maximum cruising speed is 1,000 meters per second, and it is equipped with two primary electromagnetic machine guns. Due to space constraints caused by the afterburner system, the two machine guns are mounted on the left side of the hull, and its ammunition supply is limited.]
Leo stared at the projection, his mouth slowly opening in disbelief.
Before he could respond, the image shifted to display a bulkier, more rectangular ship. The cockpit jutted slightly to the right, and the craft was fitted with two six-barrel electromagnetic machine guns mounted at its center.
[This is the Blade-class light fighter. It measures 7.4 meters in length. It also lacks hyperspace jump capability and is unable to engage in atmospheric combat. Its maximum cruising speed is 857 meters per second, and it is armed with two six-barrel electromagnetic machine guns.]
Leo stared blankly at the projection. His body swayed slightly before he dramatically collapsed forward, hitting the desk with a loud thud… ORZ
Qi Jian immediately panicked. "Administrator! Are you alright?!" He rushed forward but hesitated, unsure if he should extend a hand to help.
Leo groaned and forced himself back upright, rubbing his temples as if that would somehow make reality less painful.
"So… aside from these two absolute gems of technological ingenuity, we're basically defenseless, right?" His voice dripped with sarcasm.
Qi Jian, desperate to salvage the situation, puffed up his chest and said proudly, "It's okay, Administrator! Our database contains data on thousands of different spaceship designs! Have you forgotten? It was you who granted us the supreme honor of boarding this unparalleled mothership!"
Leo turned to Selene, trying to suppress the sinking feeling in his gut.
"Selene, confirm. What exactly is in our database?"
[The database contains an extensive collection of spacecraft schematics, including designs for massive motherships exceeding 74,000 meters in length. However, possessing these blueprints is only the first step. To construct any of these vessels, our scientific research department must analyze and adapt the data into practical production capabilities. This process will require a significant investment of time and resources.]
Leo's interest piqued at the mention of larger ships. "Display a list of available spacecraft schematics."
Immediately, a flood of blueprints scrolled across the holographic interface. Leo's eyes widened. There were not only spacecraft designs but also technical documents covering every aspect of civilization—livelihood, social infrastructure, cultural development, advanced weaponry, and more.
A creeping sense of curiosity overtook him. Wait a minute…
The game Eclipse Armada only had a limited number of ships, even if one included all titles in the series. No way it had this many designs. So where exactly did all these projects—numbering in the thousands—come from?
As he scanned through the list, some familiar names suddenly caught his eye.
Wait…
Raven-class battleship? Minotaur-class battlecruiser? Cole-class battlecruiser? Orion-class assault carrier? Infinity-class supercarrier?!
Leo's mouth fell open. His eyes darted from one name to another, his heart pounding faster with each new discovery.
"This… this isn't possible. These are ships from completely different franchises! Some of these are from Halo… others from Battlestar Galactica… wait, even Mass Effect ships?! What the hell is going on here?!"
He inhaled sharply, his hands trembling as he scrolled further.
"If the database contains all these ships… does that mean…?"
"What's going on? This gorgeous database... Does it include data from all space science fiction games, movies and TV shows I watched!/played?" Leo murmured.
Before he could finish his thought, Selene's voice chimed in again.
[To be more precise, it was a &&%$#%$#system error(^%$$ that the & 4"*#&-@©€÷§ had played with, and it has been repaired.]
Leo blinked. "...Huh?"
Selene smoothly continued as if nothing had happened.
[This data has always existed in the database. There is no additional information available.]
Leo's mind raced. He didn't like the sound of that glitch, but something else caught his attention.
"Wait a second. You mentioned a mothership over 74,000 meters long earlier. What ship is that?"
His fingers moved rapidly, scrolling through the list—until he found it.
A golden, sleek, and impossibly beautiful ship appeared before him.
Leo's heart stopped.
"The… Spear of Adun?! StarCraft's Protoss mothership?!" His voice shook with excitement.
[Correct. The ship is named Spear of Adun, with a total length of 74,550 meters.]
Leo's hands clenched into fists. "Can we build it? What would we need?"
Selene responded instantly.
[We have no chance of building the Spear of Adun right now. Even if we have enough workers and resources,
[At present, constructing the Spear of Adun is beyond our capabilities. Even if we had the necessary workforce and resources, the huge gap in production technology makes it impossible for us to build even a small part of the Spear of Adun. We need to wait until our research teams must first analyze and adapt the ship's data before any attempts at construction can begin.]
Leo's enthusiasm dimmed slightly. But even so, he couldn't suppress the grin spreading across his face.
Leo let out a bitter chuckle, already expecting this outcome. He sighed. "Yeah, I figured. The Protoss' entire technological system is completely different from ours. There's no way we could construct something like that, at least not with our current capabilities."
Qi Jian tilted his head slightly, a puzzled look crossing his face. "Administrator, what exactly are Star Spirits?"
"Ah, don't worry about it. Just some alien race," Leo dismissed the question with a wave of his hand. "Let's not waste time fantasizing about unrealistic projects. Filter out anything that's beyond our reach right now. I need to know what spaceships we can actually build with our current resources."
[Understood,] Selene responded. [At present, the mothership's production lines are only capable of manufacturing three small spacecraft: the Arrow reconnaissance aircraft, the Blade light fighter, and a basic transport ship designed for ferrying cargo between the mothership and a planetary surface. If we wish to construct anything larger, we will need a functioning space dock. However, there are some designs that are relatively close to our technological level. The scientific research department should be able to analyze them within a reasonable timeframe. Would you like me to compile a list?]
Leo shook his head. "No, not now. We don't have the resources or facilities to invest in major research efforts. Let's focus on survival first."
He turned to the civilian staff, his tone shifting to something more authoritative. "Have we completed the inventory check? What's our supply situation?"
A female clerk, wearing the standard uniform of the administration staff, stepped forward with a tablet in hand. "Yes, sir. We've completed the assessment. As the core computer indicated earlier, our supply reserves are dangerously low—far below the red line. We're especially short on food. The Ministry of Agriculture just reported that most of the crops in the hydroponic bays have withered due to prolonged system failures during our journey."
Leo frowned, rubbing his temple. "That means our best course of action is landing as soon as possible and securing resources on the planet."
"Exactly, sir," the clerk confirmed. "We need to begin planetary operations immediately."
Leo nodded, turning toward Qi Jian. "Alright, here's the plan: I want five more Arrow reconnaissance planes and twenty Blade fighters produced as soon as possible. Wake up twenty pilots from cryosleep. We need to at least ensure the mothership's basic security. After that, deploy transport ships to scout the surface of this so-called 'Dawn Star.' I want a thorough reconnaissance of the terrain, ecosystem, and potential hazards. Select a suitable landing site. Also, wake up fifty marines. They need to be on standby at all times."
"Understood!" Qi Jian snapped to attention, saluted crisply, and immediately left to carry out the orders.
Leo watched him leave, then took a deep breath. Something else was on his mind. He called out to Qi Jian just before the man disappeared through the bridge doors.
"This place… This is where it all begins for us," Leo murmured, his voice carrying a weight of finality. "This strange and unfamiliar universe… We might not know what awaits us, but from now on, we will name this planet 'Dawn Planet.' This will be our new home, no matter what challenges we face."
Qi Jian's eyes lit up, and he slammed his fist against his chest in a show of respect. "Yes, sir! Dawn Planet! Our new home!"
The rest of the bridge crew, having overheard the declaration, quickly rose from their seats. They saluted in unison, then erupted into applause. Excited chatter spread throughout the command center as crew members shook hands and exchanged hopeful words. It was the first true moment of unity and purpose since their awakening.
But amidst the celebration, Leo sat back down, his expression distant. While everyone else cheered, he felt none of their enthusiasm.
His fingers dug into the armrests of his chair, his mind wandering far beyond the walls of the bridge. A cold emptiness settled in his chest. For the first time since waking up, the reality of his situation truly sank in. He wasn't home anymore. He would probably never see Earth again. The warmth of his family, the comfort of his old life—it was all gone.
If he had a choice, he would rather still be in that warm and happy home...with the company of his family, warmth and harmony.
But, he was here, in this lifeless void, tasked with leading six hundred thousand people to survival. And it was just the beginning. His choices would determine their fate. Would they flourish or die out in the cold abyss of space? Would they be swallowed whole by some greater interstellar power? And what of the wars he knew were inevitable? Would they be drawn into the violent conflicts of this unknown universe, where casualties weren't measured in thousands, but in billions?
The weight of it was suffocating.
Leo stood up without a word, his body moving on autopilot as he followed the directions displayed by Selene's interface. Step after step, he made his way back to his private quarters—an extravagant, luxurious space designed for the Administrator's comfort. But none of it mattered. He barely glanced at the soft lighting, the lavish furniture, the intricate designs carved into the walls.
He walked straight to the bed, collapsed onto the plush velvet covers, and buried his face in the sheets.
For the first time since waking up, he let himself truly feel the exhaustion, the frustration, the fear.
He closed his eyes.
And finally, sleep took him.
